What initially started as just an art project ended up becoming so much more. In February of 2008, RUclips user Nana825763 (also called "PiroPito") uploaded a video titled "Username666," showcasing an alleged page filled with malware and computer viruses that caused digital and even paranormal distress to any user that visited it.
Despite PiroPito himself claiming that the video was just a work of art, many online users are still convinced that Username666 was a real page that infiltrated RUclips, including their own testimonials and even screenshots of their experiences with it.
Regardless of the truth behind these claims, the legend continues to leave an imprint on internet culture, becoming one of the many examples that would help shape the way we fact-check and perceive information online today.

They also made that really unsettling video called ‘my house walk-through’ that a lot of people were talking about for a while. I think some big RUclipsrs like Markiplier reacted to it. Nana/PiroPito certainly has a talent for the unsettling and surreal!
Honestly when I realized username666 and the house walk through were made by the same channel it was a big “Oh yeah I remember that!!” moment.
I was wondering why something just felt so familiar. Something about the grimy vibes of both videos. Obviously I couldn’t pin it down until i saw this comment :)

Out of all their videos, outside of another RUclips and username666, another that I remember is pokopkopikotan (I think that’s what it’s called) that stuff was disturbing
My favorite 2008 pastime was searching "scary video" on youtube and going down a related video screamer rabbit hole for a couple of hours. If it had 3 stars or less it was probably a screamer.
Also there were a ton of Beatles related docs on here back then that I cant seem to find anywhere.

It's weird to think we've hit a point in time where we need an explanation and it's not just common knowledge that it was Nana who made the very fake urban legend.
Excited for this episode. Username666 really was the start of all these modern internet horror/creepy videos that we take for granted today.

Hey, Squid, really good video! Referring to the part about RUclips pre-restricting offensive usernames: I think RUclips actually did restrict "666." It seems likely for RUclips to pre-restrict all of the offensive words that are only one word, and "666" would've been considered as one word. I don't think the old RUclips would have wanted to be super limiting as to pre-restrict all possible offensive word combinations. Then, for an easy default, they used the "account suspended" message for all the pre-restricted words. Also, maybe back then, you couldn't have a username that was three characters?
A viewer descretion for " 2008 yt culture " is a must . I think any videos based on yt during this era should go through cencorship and eventually get graded .
It's largely irrelevant to this video in particular, but I love that PiroPito has all this really great horror stuff and then...... an incredibly wholesome series of him playing Minecraft blind lmao.

If I recall correctly, he also had a long innocent series documenting his ant farm. Innocent except for one episode which had a jumpscare in it.

Ah, urban legends and creepypastas are so fun! Surprisingly, I've never heard of Username666. I haven't looked at a lot from the early days of the internet, but perhaps I ought to because there's some really interesting stories. Even though/if they're fake, there's just something special about hearing them and pretending, just for a moment, that they're real, especially if it's an unsolved mystery sort of thing. One of my favorite urban legends is about the arcade game Polybius, which apparently gave weird symptoms to anyone who played it. I'm sure everyone's heard of it by now, though.
I wish I lived in the timeline of time traveling NationSquid. Would love to see the restraining order arc!

Mid 2000s RUclips permanently instilled a spider-sense for jump scares into my brain.
RUclips would always display "This account is suspended" when visiting an invalid channel link.

Hi! That video ended up getting a false copyright strike back in 2019 (someone didn't like the review I left about their story despite it being positive) and I just made a lot of bad and frankly embarrassing decisions trying to get it back up. Nobody won in that situation haha. It's really too bad since that was my first ever video on this channel, but that's in the past and I am much happier with my content now!

This whole thing reminds me of this story back around the late 2000s where this bungalo out at santa monica that just vanished over night. I remember seeing it on the news several times over a week or so, talking about its strange disappearance, until this construction company came out and was like 'yeah we bought the land and knocked the building down.' Apparently they were building a 8 story condo.
Though the story i guess doesnt end there, as it was only just recently that i heard about how that very same condo hasnt been able to keep anyone in the building ever since its construction. It just kind of stays there, and people that move in, either commit suicide later, or just up and leave, or sometimes they outright go missing. Pretty fucked up shit ya know?
