Yes your not the only one to state the size and comparison to other 1/18 th scale ...The hole industry states what they wish ...Look at so of the FMS stuff ...I still like it .....
I think the trx4m is actually gonna be a great option for outdoor crawling too. You can find a 3x3 foot area that has 15 different lines this thing could crush, definitely more capable than the 24s generally speaking
I think the sise is perfect for a mini class small tire 1.9 rig, a style which i haven't seen much of recently so i think this is a great platform to kick that off again. Cant wait to get mine.
You mentioned how it will replace the temper and im glad you said that because that's exactly what i was thinking, my temper still works awsome and i think is a great mini platform but this is way way better🔥
I agree with you. And I am seeing people comparing them on the Facebook groups as well. Saying they are returning the trx-4m for the Capra. But what people don't understand is they are supposed to be compared. Of course the Capra is more capable...it twice the bloody size. Lol. The shifty part is Traxxas shorted so many hobby shops and the customers that pre-ordered them will now have to wait weeks. And then some shops got more than they have sold. So i get why they are frustrated...I know I still have to wait a week or so.
Yay another video seriously appreciate all you do for the community haven't bought a new Rc in years with all this new stuff you need getting makes me want a new one lol
I was thinking 12th scale to I know some people say scale is just a number but for me it's how I judge what size a vehicle is when purchasing on line where you can't see the true size I looked into this one I loved the tempers I told the hobby store the same thing I like it but but I don't 250$ like it lol
Axial, while I have a few of their rc's and love them, have typically gotten their scales wrong for a long time even more than most. I think the Capra is awesone but definitely closer to 1/12 scale.
Exactly!! Its a really cool rig but surprised it didn't have dig! As much as I don't like the size mislabeling I will still probably pick one up. Thanks for the overview man!
I really agree with your take on not knowing when I use it. I have a 1/10 Capra, a couple good 1/10 trucks and some built 1/24s. I think it looks cool, but I just don’t see the market for it.
i was at my LHS yesterday with my 4ws capra. they have a GIANT 1/10 crawler course or really many courses, both inside and outside. 90 percent of stuff was pretty easy with the other 10 percent being imposible. these "1/18" scale capra would be perfect there with some mods like tires, weights, brushless system, high clearance links and maybe rear steer since i think that would be easier than dig.
Stoked to hear your thoughts on the trx4m! The capra looks cool- i feel like a bunch of marketing dorks just said "dude, 18th is the market to be in, label everything 18th!" It would be interesting to see this capra compared size wise with the losi nightcrawler. (I know you dont have it anymore, but still)
Appreciate you sharing Matt, it looks cool , Not as cool as my max smasher I do have them both now. I absolutely love my monster trucks,Will catch on the next one
I was thinking about buying both but now that I see the massive difference I'll just buy two axials. Thanks for making this video! I just can't see using that small Traxxas where i crawl. I'm sure it would be great inside...but I feel like the Cap could do okay inside as well as on big features. If only the TRX came as pickup or real bronco, then I might bite. That's okay Traxxas has gotten plenty of my dollars.
Right! How can you compare the Capra to the TRX4M or to the SCX24? I stated this previously. I love all my SCX24s, TRX4M, and I love the new Capra. This RC hobby is booming and I love it!
@@dirtrider88 I have been in the hobby since 1979. I have owned nearly every brand and witnessed the evolution from stadium racing to crawling. I had the original Tamiya Sandscorcher for reference. LOL
Honestly, I didn't think I'd really have any interest in 1/24, but they're great for indoors. This is a bit big for living room crawling, I'd pass on it for 1/10. Nice looking though.
To find the right size, when talking scale. We need to compare the item/vehicle in question to a 1:1? Not to other vehicles that could also be out of scale to their 1:1s? The new axial could be to big for 1:18th, but I’m not sure how big the 1:1 of that type of vehicle is? Pretty sure that Bronco is smaller than 1:18th of a 1:1, but I can’t measure it to say for sure?
I've often wondered how Axial comes up with the size of their "scale" vehicles. Found that out early on ordering scale garage accessories that were too small for anyone to take seriously next to an Scx24. Oh and there's like 3 things in the whole world that are 1/20 scale which is the closest to those lol.
I find 1/18 works well next to most 1.0 tires and works ok with the scx24 wheelbase but yeah body will always look small next to 4-inch figures and their scale world
I think it's based off of race buggy scale, but I am not sure, but that's what I heard from someone. I just ordered two because my son and I wanted a change from all our scalers. trucks. Simple fun. Anyway it's are Christmas presents. So I mite have to open my crawler and then rap it back up for Christmas, lol.
I’d be curious if you could hack the cage to fit on fcx axles. Also those portal axles on it could fit under smaller 1/10 truck with fenders I’m sure But yeah fair point on hobby shop seller, probably what it is especially before Xmas
Matt, kinda getting itch for something bigger than a 24- this or a 1/10 4WS Capra. Should i spend the money on the 1/10? Either way both seemed to be outdoor only, I'm afraid if I get this with wheels, tires and a few mods wont make me as happy as the big dog... even though its half the price. Love the vids
idk, the 1/10 capra is crazy capable with a few mods. makes a LOT of stuff boring depending on the terrain you can find. this seems like it would fill in the gap really nicely while still giving plenty of challenges
A little off subject but did you do any more testing with the 64mm injora hyrax tires got mine a couple days ago only ran em on my rock pile but very impressed so far love to have a 24 capra to put them on to make a matching baby capra
it's not just your opinion, it's also technically Axial's opinion that this is 1/14th, 'cause that's pretty much what it comes out compared to the 1/10th Capra with some quick, basic math ;) but i think Axial just can't into math. i don't think any of their scale calculations are anywhere even close to real (my favorite example will always be the Ryft. someone please find me a rock bouncer well over 5m long :D) anyway, i kinda like it but considering the price i'll let others tinker with it to see if i like it lowered and maybe stretched a bit ('cause it's waaay too tall) before dumping money (it's a pricey hobby here in europe :)). from what i've seen, i like it more than the traxxases. waaay more capable outdoors (duh, lol), and i'd rather keep it smaller than 1/18th for indoors (plus... yaaawn yet another bronco and defender. how interesting!)

Yeah I actually like the size of the truck. My issue is more with the dummies saying it’s better than the Trx4m or a 1/24 etc. There’s no comparison with this thing.
At the end of the day sounds like it isn’t that good of a buy at $250… curious to hear after you spend time driving it… better tires and lower looks like it would be fun
It's a slap at traxxas its ok snowflakes..put the capra tires on the trx4m and look at them again a scale 1 to 1 mall crawler versus a rock bouncer peoples no looking at this right..well that's my 6 cents lll

they probably also compare the crawling capability of a 4ws capra to traxxas sledge
