Hey wanted to thank you man! I've been going through your whole catalog of Tello vids over the past couple of days and have since bought this repeater and the power bank you recommended in the description to go with my Tello that I'm still waiting for in the mail! I'm so excited to fly and thank you so much helping me with that.
I know this little drone can’t do all of the stuff that the much more expensive drones do, but the camera is good enough to see if my gutters need cleaning instead of getting out the ladder. And the hold position is good enough to hover just under a wasp nest and get some laughs.
I bought this drone just the other day because my 84 year old dad wants to climb a ladder to inspect his roof. Won't let us do it because "it's too dangerous" 😂
Nice work my friend👍 Just got a Tello.. Did exactly the same setup with my parrot bebop 2 to get the range. Thanks for sharing nice intuitive presentation I’d love to know what your findings flying through the repeater👍👍👍
Try the AC750 by TP-Link...its similar to this one on the video but a slightly bigger box. Ive tested the N300, the AC750, and the Xiaomi Mi Wifi+. The AC750 is best of the three for range and dropped frames and bitrate. Reason being? The TP Link AC750 is DUAL Band. This means while you cant change the Tello's signal to 5G. You can take the Tello's 2.4GHZ signal into the AC750 and boost and output the signal to 5G to your phone. The repeater/router is going to be closer to your phone than the Tello so 5G is a stronger signal up close. My footage is smoother with this setup. The AC750 is not much more than the N300 on Amazon and setup is very similar to this video except when you select the router in your phones wifi settings to connect, select the 5G wifi signal over the standard 2.4ghz. This application is better in a WiFI RICH environment. In a more rural setting, the two repeaters might have little difference although 5G has faster speeds from the repeater to your phone.
If you use a Wifi extender, it reduces the Tellos dropped frames. And also sometimes you can take the Tello up to 25m and it somehow is able to hold position with enough light and light to no wind. The MiTu couldn't do that. Also, more battery life on the Tello. It is the BEST non-gps drone in my opinion even today. Maybe the HoverAir is better but for the price of a more expensive GPS drone like the DJI Mini 2SE, that HoverAir drone is overpriced unless you produce a lot of videos. The Tello is like a "Budget" HoverAir especially if you employ the TelloMe and TelloFPV apps.
@@GadgetInspector thx for rapid response.. I believe i can obtain this on amazon.. So i think ill go with you and get the TP-Link... Many thx man.. Sub.
@@GadgetInspector hey my dude.. Further our conversation.. I see i can now get the mi and the tp-link extenders.. So my final question which one will give best signal strength and range.. Many thx for yr input bro😉👍
GREAT VIDEO! You've been very helpful, and have finally convinced me to buy a tello haha. Only thing is, I can't find the TP-Link repeater. Will any repeater work? as long as its USB powered?
You can try newegg: www.newegg.com/tp-link-tl-wr802n-ieee-802-11b-g-n/p/N82E16833704245?item=N82E16833704245&source=region&nm_mc=knc-googleadwords-pc&cm_mmc=knc-googleadwords-pc-_-pla-_-network+-+wireless+routers-_-N82E16833704245&gclid=CjwKCAjwoNuGBhA8EiwAFxomA_gtQ3cFlDaeupU5wEGS5HPa2p-IBfM9fLrWz04C8AQib1MyOUIeTBoCgnEQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds or even eBay. I'm sure there are other repeaters out there, but since I haven't tested them and not too familiar I wouldn't want to recommend. Hopefully they restock on Amazon soon.
Have a T1s arriving today. Do you have any pointers on set up with the Tello? And will the extender with the T1s cause a problem if using OTG connection?
How is it with altitude? The horizontal range is great but I also thinking about the altitude. I saw another youtuber get close to100ft with a Meross extender and a app.
all right. ill come back after the holiday and if it worked ill give that thumbs up and everything. i wonder if you can set up through your computer instead of your phone. and if you do set up through your phone and it goes wrong im guessing the light will flash red and not green? you said to put the extender between you and the drone which makes sense. how far would be a good distance? 50 yards maybe?
Hey Gadget Inspector, thanks for the video! I followed your instructions but for some reason I'm not able to connect to the video feed of my tello Please advise :) Thanks!
Mine still has the original motors. Can't say that I fly it everyday, but I only had brushed motors burn out on me one time and that was because I kept doing back to back flights. Usually if I wait 5 minutes or so between flights and let the motors cool down I get pretty good life out of them. Replacements are cheap but you gotta solder. Glad I haven't had to do that.
I've heard from several RUclipsrs who had to exchange them, but I don't know how much flight time they had there. I fly 6 to 12 battery charges every day and I'm a bit afraid that they'll dead after a lot of months. But its okay, they cost nearly nothing and easy to replace.
I think it's mainly for horizontal range, but I imagine if you could somehow position the repeater between you and the tello vertically...it might work? 🤷🏾♂️
Hi. My name is Vincent from Spain. I have an Idea37 with a 5Ghz wifi. Do you know a wifi repeater like you are showing for my drone? I would like if you could help me. Sorry for my english and a very Big hug from Spain.
This one is still the best out there IMO. Here's the range test I did: ruclips.net/video/dF6vLUNAnUo/видео.html. How far would you actually fly a Tello? You can barely see it after 75 feet or so. I'd be afraid to lose it flying super far and it's so light that you wouldn't want to fly it too high as the wind could impede you getting it back. I say grab a GPS drone if you want super long distance. The repeater is intended to give you a better video feed while flying further than the stock config allows.
@@GadgetInspector tnx for the reply , i did notice the vid cuts out if you go a bit further , i only asked due to fact i couldn't find this one , so i was guessing its same as xiaomi mi 2 , but 30 minutes deep into scrolling i found one ! @@GadgetInspector so I'm often getting a wifi interference alert on the tello fpv app... Definitely not high enough I can't see it. I think around 30m...any advice?
Not sure how well this will work for altitude because you have to make sure the repeater is always in between you and the Tello. No clue how you'd manage that one. This is mainly to extend distance.
I tried this one and other 2 different tp link routers. Don't work. Find the signal so slow that the drone overheats or the battery goes empty. Garbage all. I bought the xiaomi that works good and another no name chinese with 2 antennas, that's also okay. Forget these crap routers

One thing I have always wondered about the tello is, how long do those tiny brushed motors last, and how easy are they to replace.

No need.

Not sure, but in theory, it should be able to link with any drone that emits a 2.4ghz signal.
