Dude, the mix in this song is stellar. Everything hits so damn hard. That guitar tone is ridiculous. Out of the whole song the part at 2:35 is just perfect, the way everything accentuates and plays off the other. I just saw Haken live with Devin Townsend and they blew me away. (Embarrassed to say I hadn’t heard of them before.) Ever since then I’ve been listening through their catalogue and have been beyond impressed!

Gotta admit, the guitars, drums and everything is pretty chocolate cakey. Bass drum is perfect, not a cockroach-to-windscreen-"bass" drum but a proper one, with punch and air. Snare cuts through just the right amount most of the time. Still, I'm missing actual ringing toms in modern metal music, but I guess they take it out because it makes the mix muddy or something? But seriously, the toms' ring doesn't cut through at all, as if it was just 100% taken out deliberately. I mean, if the toms are played 3 % of the time, why can't they just ring like they should, I don't get it
@@nenissaK Sorta answered your own question. Sure maybe he only plays the toms 3% of time overall, but its not like he hits one tom every thirty seconds or something, he hits a bunch of them all in a short period of time like in a fill or something like 2:15. All that ringiness would just get in the way and clutter things up real quick

I attend the church of Haken each morning. Hello my fellow parishioners
Henshall's solo album was great and I liked Ross' work with Novena, but Haken is back.
[I used google translator, hope it worked!]

I only speak English, but I agree!
Saw you guys on the last tour with Devin. Love from Poland! You're unbelievably awesome

At 1:23 I knew this would be a great album. Synth sounds reminiscent of a trance track plus an absolutely filthy bass tone. Fantastic!
Best thing on the internet today!

Best drum performance I have ever heard! Bravo Raymond.
2:50 Ooof now THAT'S a riff
This has been in regular rotation in my metal mixes now for 3 years and it just keeps getting better. But I can't find another song you do that comes close to this one.
After hearing that intro, I knew it was only a matter of time before there were blast beats.
