The Deep Forest Green 335 has a custom Native American style print pattern on the sides of the body. Gibson doesn't show a fantastic photo of it, but I'm surprised Trogly overlooked it. He usually eats up that kind of thing. Personally, I love it! If I didn't already have two semi-hollows, I'd be all over it.
That last guitar was sort of cool with the faux bronze control panel. and that it's a thin line acoustic. but I'm more into the dreadnought body shape guitars. but the LP just before that one, was definitely the one to pick. out of all the guitars listed in this episode. and the price was definitely reasonable.
A lot of european folk and folk-rock bands use bouzoukis in their setups. It has a really nice chimey sound when playing melodic lines, so it is not surprising to see an electric finally converted into one.
@@GarlicAngelBand I play in a Celtic/Americana band in AZ and we have a multi-instrumentalist that has an Irish bouzouki in his arsenal of strings. We are both luthiers as well and are intrigued enough that we might find an beat up Epiphone SG and do the mods and see how it sounds.
@@GarlicAngelBand I wish I had a bigger budget to experiment with different pickup configurations. The Gibson mod had a pair of Firebird pickups, but my friend and I were pondering how it would sound with P 90s, EMGs or even a Strat style set up.
Wow, im greek but i was born in america im going to greece this summer when i get out of school its also going to be my first time, I was thinking of getting one in greece, so it was cool seeing gibson made an electric bouzouki.
As a Greek Music enthusiasts, you can easily play this instrument. It is tuned like a guitar without the two bottom strings and all of the strings are in whole step down.
Trogly you are getting the price from the EU shop without the VAT even when it says it does have it included. Reverb automatically takes the VAT out if you are not supposed to be paying it with your account.
I know it’s different but I just tried an 8 string baritone acoustic (Taylor) and it was the most glorious sounding thing I’ve ever heard. I was buying my only acoustic, if I was shopping for another 100% would have got it, but didn’t want that to be my only one. Highly recommend trying one
The SG bouzouki was pretty cool! Liked the purple 61 SG as well along with the emerald green 50s Les Paul. Bullion Green/Gold 335 with the back of the neck in gold was very cool as was the "Pot O Green" Firebird Custom. Lots of cool stuff this week, fun episode! 👍
The first time I saw a Bouzouki was in a local music store. The owners of the store didn't know what it was, but they had it for sale for $1600. I took a glance at it and told them what it was. I had never seen one before then, but somehow knew what it was.
There was a lot here tonight to like. I think the sparkle SG and Cobalt blue Les Paul are probably my favorites. The Americana series solid acoustic at the end is very cool, too.
Gibson finally came out with a parlor size acoustic electric, these small blues based guitars have become popular again, the Americana looks like one sweet guitar to own.
Danelectro did an electro-bouzouki (the Bellzouki) around the same time as their sitars. Not sure how popular those were, but they were more of a traditional look with the lipstick pickups in the top.
I did a bouzouki mod on an epiphone les paul it's so fun and gets me out or ruts when I find myself playing the same things on guitar over and over again
After watching your tear downs it seems that the majority of Gibson’s pickups have their main wiring enclosed in a woven steel mesh. So when the time came to strip down & clean my ebony 2019 SG Standard last week I was shocked to find a cheap looking plastic wire connecting the pup’s to the pot’s.
Hey Trogly! Question for you: I am in love with the Bouzouki SG, but trying to check in with Gibson for some info, but they’re not able to find anything :( do you have any suggestions for getting better pics of the SG? Do you happen to have some laying around from editing or like- any suggestion on where you were able to find it? I’m basically grasping at straws at this point 🤣 Hope your day is going well!
I love that honey burst les Paul with all the rings. Id buy that guitar if I hadn't bought the greenie les Paul new not trashed from musicians friend. Demo shop has great guitars in Europe area at great prices. Demo shop usa not so much, they would rather repaint and raise the prices or turn Tom Murphy loose trashing guitars and doubling the prices. Fact not speculation. You show the proof. Thanks for the video I love watching them all.
I sent this to a former colleague of mine who's got Greek heritage from his father's side. He's got a bouzouki that he was going to wire for sound. He'd like this.
@@balloonman8796 i played one they made in 1918 and it was a honey of an instrument. Warm golden tones. It was hard to put down and i somewhat regret not buying it though i had no practical use for one. That’s how you know it’s good
@@jeffreytgilbert I would love to play one, mandolin family instruments are so lovely sounding. They really have that 12 string like quality to them, I'm a bassist and keyboardist but if I ever picked up a third instrument that'd probably be the one. I'm glad you got to have that experience, maybe one day they'll start making them again or maybe Martin or Taylor will give it a shot...
Fender CEO interview did the rounds a few days ago. They did the maths on exorbitant NAMM fees and just don't see any cost benefit to attending. COVID taught them how to use online technology to spend far more time with dealers than the 30 minutes they get at NAMM, and at far lower cost. They'd rather use the NAMM money to drive increased sales via dealers websites and physical footfall into dealers stores.
Matter of definition whether it's a bouzouki or an octave mandolin or a doubled-up tenor guitar. I suppose since they use "bouzouki" in the name, we have to respect their decision. But I'd use it as a tenour guitar.
I'd really like to see more matched backs like that (even though the top was blir on this one). Like what would the Lzp with the blue top and red back have looked like if the back was dyed blue as well. I remember the green LP with the back dyed green from a couple of weeks ago. That was sweet.
Man this episode was a depth charge !!! KUR-BLOOM !! Yes! Love that they're getting creative converting instruments! Would love to see them do a Mando-Cello, or 9 string guitar, etc.
As a Greek, I am happy to see a Gibson bouzouki, it is a popular instrument in Greek music
That classic honey burst is my cup of teabags

If you're born in the USA and haven't set foot in Greece before, doesn't that make you American?
Evening fellow guitar enthusiasts!!!
I've been looking at Bouzoukis all evening. This is Mad!
Bouzoukis are popular in Irish Traditional music. I know. I live here.
I think the non burgundy color is a tribute to Ron Burgundy!
Gotta be. My first thought as well.

5:38 this is funny because it shows evidence of a pick guard in the finish but lacks the screw holes.
Green firebird worked so well. Loved that.
That acoustic Firebird was stunning!
Guessing "non burgundy" is a reference to "Ron Burgundy" from Anchorman lol
That control plate is stunning!!

Very popular instrument here into Newfoundland as well. It's made it's way into traditional and Irish music.
Gibson finally came out with a parlor size acoustic electric, these small blues based guitars have become popular again, the Americana looks like one sweet guitar to own.
bruh i was just wanting a ukalele and seeing that 8 string thing made like that seems like a perfect type thing for that vibe
Bouzouki aren't tuned like ukuleles, they're tuned like mandolins
I think you're wrong, there, Trog. That SG headstock is longer than a standard one, the tuners are the normal distance apart(not crammed together).
You sure? The mini Grovers might be making it look longer than it actually is.
@@Grayjacket11 the stem size and bushing size are the same on both standard and minis.
Love that faded sg and fire bird acoustic!
Highly adopted into Irish music as well because it is essentially an "octave mandolin."

love the colour reference to the great Ron Burgundy
The pink standard SG is arriving home this morning 😊
Congrats!
Great Cesar's ghost! I need that SG bouzouki!

It looks to me that the acoustic Firebird has a crack or scratch in the headstock, which has left a black mark in the binding???
Yes!!!
When does the mod shop update??

I always enjoy the Mod store, but those prices are way to much!
But does it djent?
That first sg reminded me of a mandocello with the double strings. That’s a cool one.
I wish they would do some acoustic mandocellos again, such cool instruments. They probably haven't been around in 50+ years
Jeffrey Gilbert sure was cool!

Makes sense. Guess it’s permanent. Thanks
A bouzouki with a guitar-width neck would be a bit annoying, but it's certainly creative.

I love it when they do weird stuff. Refinishes are cool and all, but if you can't go truly wacky sometimes, what's the point. Cool "bouzouki".

Gibson release 8 string bouzouki SG. Phil X enters the chat.
Bouzouki is used a lot in Irish trad
I really love a green guitar!
Haha it's an honor to see a Gibson bouzouki
I'm going to guess it's supposed to be some kind of play off of Ron Burgundy.
Not Bad!👍
When I saw 8 string, i thought Gibson went Djent...A man can only hope.
I was introduced to the bouzouki by Monty Python and the Cheese Shop sketch
They just need to give that guitar to Phil X. God I would love to see him play that.
7:04 WHEN YOU MENTION ABOUT "DEMO"
ARE THEY CHEAPER QUALETY & PRICES???? THAN NORMAL????

The bouzouki is very cool, but it is actually not strung up as a Greek bouzouki but as an Irish bouzouki.
Im not into Firebirds. I'prefer Camaros 😂😂 👍👋💯. Still don't know how most working folks can afford these prices these days 🤢🤢 just getting worse 😭😢
