This made me cry because I got stuck outside of China, after Spring Festival. I miss my students very much! I'll come back soon as it's safe to return and I hope I can be a blessing to the Chinese people, just like Mrs. Berthelot. She's an inspiration and a role model! Thanks for sharing her story

These teachers are so dedicated and genuine that one feels so inspired. The Chinese students are very respectful towards their teachers and so eager to learn.

Chinese are culturally in debt to their teachers. They view their teachers with respect way way above the western students and are grateful for life for the things they learn from their teachers.

What she see and actually think is that these are the geniuses that American youths, with their blind disobedience to authority and anti-intellectual nature, will compete against in the next generation.

This is entire my own opinion, but I feel education in the US focuses on creativity, originality, individuality and experimenting new concepts while education in China focuses on problem solving, efficiency, innovation and team work. Combining both would produce a lot of incredible graduates into the society.

Sad to see China allowing English education of it's people. What it does is make people arrogant unlike Chinese education which promotes humility and respect which English education does not.

    • @thesincitymama

I always tell my students, they will use English as a tool to build a stronger China within the global economy. When they ask for pronunciation help, I often tell them, "You don't need to sound like me! Your oral English can already be understood. You can be proud to speak English with a Chinese accent!" They don't need to learn Western culture. I'm only teaching them to efficiently interact with the lesser nations, in order to become more effective world leaders. Other nations aren't bothering to teach their children Chinese. They're too ignorant to see the value of learning Mandarin. So when China becomes the #1 world leader, the other nations will be far behind the massively dominant highly educated Chinese population

This half baked guy is a good example of what I mean by the inferiority of the Anglo culture. Chinese/ Confucian education is over 2,500 years old compared to English. A very good example is road rage. It only occurs in English colonies in Malaysia, Singapore Australia etc. You don't see this in Thailand and Indonesia. English education kind of creates a superiority complex in people.

Drivel again from another CCP stooge who has probably never met an Anglo face to face. You're a racist no doubt.

English is just a language, like a tool for communication. Humility is a choice we make. The Chinese were arrogant in the past also. You once thought you were the center of the universe. But the 100 years of humiliation taught you well. Do you still want to go through the 100 years of humiliation?
