OMG 😱😱😱 reminds me somehow of the Bates Motel 😱😱😱 I don't even dare to remind you what is that one horrendous feature that is missing - this is pure horror 😱😱😱 please, stay safe 🙏❤❤❤ 🙏
I wonder why hotel keeps those paintings, not the safest hotel to stay at. Thanks for showing us the art. It has its place maybe in museum that will open after Russia is defeated
This is one of the most magical and serendipitous streams I have ever seen, the characters have become immortal for me. Really, if you watch it several times to catch all nuances in the spontaneous heroic content, they will keep gaining dimension in Soul and Spirit. These humble men have accidentally created an historic masterpiece for all Time. I love these men X10 today.
In berlin, there is the "Ostel" a GDR focussed hotel revisiting eastern german charme. I probably would not even drink a coffee there. They call it "experience museum" wonder if they removed the microphones from the rooms.
When I stayed at Hotel Ukraine in Kyiv, I thought it felt very Soviet, too. Not in a propagandistic way, there weren't many vestiges of the USSR left, but just in the feel of the design and the way it operated. My (least) favorite aspect was the way the elevators were...uhh...programmed? It took *forever* to get up and down to different floors because, well, they kept going up and down with little regard for actually reaching a destination. They would always be stopping on floors, and the doors would open to an empty foyer because whoever pressed the button got tired of waiting and just took the stairs instead. I kept picturing the engineer in my head, with a stern looking commissar glaring over his should as he worked, repeating the refrain, "If the proletariat can't get to their floor in a timely manner, then no one does!" Otherwise, it is a lovely hotel. The views over Maidan are fantastic, and the maitre d'hotel in the dining room exhibited a level of service as if I were foreign nobility visiting during the imperial era.
When I started watching this, I actually thought it was an art gallery. As an art gallery, the paintings are well illustrated, interesting, and thought-provoking, though very dark. Apart from 2 or 3, they showed thick clouds and some almost black skies. Very telling of oppression. Although most probably historically correct, a hotel is no place to display them, no matter your political persuasion. The owners of this hotel and others that look to the past need to understand, while you look to the past, you can have no future. Slava Ukraine. Heroyam Slava. 🇦🇺❤️🇺🇦
In minneapolis we have had the museum of Russian art for at least 20 years. Their website says they stand with Ukraine. I have always wanted to see it but never got around to it. Now I don't want to see it.
I am surprised it is still there. I understand your feelings. While we are not fighting with weapons, here in the US we are in a battle for our democracy and the ruskies are doing all they can to see we lose it. 💙💙💙💙💛💛💛💛
Creepy. Hope you slept well I'd have nightmares. I only went to Russia once many years ago - it was suffocating, toxic. I know that feeling of evil you mean.
I'm very much pro Ukraine. But please no cancel culture. Look at it as history, even if it is bad history. After your victory you will have something you know you don't want to have again. I'm German and we sure have a black past. We have memorials to remind us.
Zhenya was absolutely disgusted by all those paintings glorifying the soviet world... And your trepidation and disgust was very palpable through the video as well, Rick... The crazy part is the fact 5hat all those paintings were soviet ORIGINALS! Like WTF?!? 😳😣🤢🤮😵💫
Rick ! This mentality is terrifying !
I am traumatized and I wasn't even there. Hotel Cringe! Yikes!
This is going to be interesting! Thanks for showing those of us who cannot go to Ukraine! 👍🏼
The best thing about that hotel was the huge Ukrainian flag.

Rick, that was so surreal 🫣😬 It was like being transported back in time...

Very well said @ricktheukrainian. A VERY DARK FUTURE awaits us ALL if we don't stop them NOW.
This is crazy. Rick and Greg, thanks for showing the details of this hotel. Old beliefs die hard.
Love the paintings. Beauty is where you find it even if it's horrible people.Thank you, Rick Slava Ukraini 💙💛🇺🇦🔱
They really loved to glorify their atrocities. Madness with a smile.
Rick, thanks for sharing. I have to wonder what kind of dreams you experienced that night in that Soviet nightmare.
"Look what I discovered!" Funniest thing I've heard all week.
Beautiful paintings, kind of disturbing history though. Interesting! Thanks for sharing.
Was this one picture (with the bread train) joking on the Holomodor? 🤔

The look on Zhenya's face !

That’s the best room tour 😂😢
Thank god some naughty boys showed us this depressing hotel ;)
Lots of paintings to make you think Russia is good. WW2 started in 1939 when the great friends attacked Poland.
Don't smoke - as in every blown off raffinerie..🤔🤣

Too bad nobody has some crafting adhesive googly eyes 👀
That's a good idea for the future!
Not everything in Soviet Union was bad...Stalin build the Autobahn...🤔🤣
Dark Vader Soviet lol 😂
Also, am I the only one that thought the baby in the painting close to the fire extinguisher looks like putin.
