I just watched this video or listen to it as I was driving and I just want to thank you man you are an inspiration and I’m the one that’s 57. I’ve been doing this for about 24 years now man you’ve got a good future ahead of you and if you’ve already known what it’s like to work for US foods, I can tell you right now I worked for a company called MBM they got bought out by McLean but I did it for 15 years and it takes a toll on your body believe me it doesn’t matter how good of shape you’re in you’re gonna leave their hurt. just like dudes in the NFL I don’t care how bad they are by the time they retire or get cut they’ve got injuries that will live with them the rest of their lives. Anyhow, good on you man I’m gonna keep watching if I wasn’t so old now I might think about doing that owner operator thing when I was your age I was already married not that that should be using it as an excuse but it is a little harder.

Trucking works when you figure out what works for me. I started with my authority pulling an rgn and cattle pot back and forth. So I was able to pay my equipment off really quick. People who say trucking isn’t worth it are people that failed themselves or they’re talking about lease purchase. That shit is always a no go. I like the longer vids also.

Brother is right, those that say...oh i can't make it, post a You Tube video say i need help etc, but just went into a chrome shop 4 days beforehand and spent 2k on exhaust kit, chrome, etc. You have to be very frugal with your earnings, what the truck makes. Is it hard or tempting? Yes! I've been there, we all have. You have to save. Taxes, heavy weight road tax, insurance, IFTA, registration, permits, mechanical failures, etc, etc! Its a lot! It takes a certain person to be able to want to drive constantly! If you don't like to drive, this isn't for you! If you dont want to be away from family, this isn't for you! There is so much with this career, it'll make you feel nuts. Remember, its not a job it's a lifestyle! I really believe that! Be safe driver's!!!

Freight volumes are down in a big way that’s for sure, lotta freight getting double loaded and double stacked on trains, keep making connections and keep dropping those cards, you only need 1 or 2 dedicated shippers, one out and one back home, I went through the same thing calling a bunch of places and pulling up but I got lucky this year hitting up an old friend who’s family is in the business and asking if they needed a reefer and to my surprise he was like yeah talk to my dad and they put me on direct… no more load boards no haggling with brokers no factoring no stress just working and I thank god every day, when I was on the load boards I had to sit there and click refresh every few seconds but these days it’s really tough to get a proper rate cause there’s still too many trucks and too many guys running for cheap, guys that might be working for dollars but sending money back to another country and they’re still getting rich but for the guys born here and paying the cost of living in dollars it’s a slap in the face. You will figure it out keep doing your thing and Congratulations big time you are the real deal

I have been doing this for 20 + years. For direct customers, you need 4 or more trucks. All 4 trucks must be insured under the same policy. The customer won't copy of the Vin #. I had my one truck for 18 years to this day. 1 truck operates
