  • Ive called and talked to many brokers but they all tell me the same thing your authority is to new or you need at least six months to a year to run are freight. They make it really hard for the new guy to survive.

    Tip 1, don’t focus on rate per mile, yes it’s important, but the more important part should be how much can you gross per day. If a load pays 2k to go 500 miles, but takes 3 or 4 days to complete, that’s a loss

  • @justinjackson84
    @justinjackson84 10 месяцев назад +17

    The sweet spot is 350-500 mile runs everyday. Usually you can get $3-5/mile pulling a reefer on those trips so figure $1100-2000 a day depending on how lucky you can get. Always have the broker pays those lumper fees! They can always send you a digital check.

    • @InterstateMadeMe
      @InterstateMadeMe  10 месяцев назад +7

      Yes I’m figuring it out and that’s where I like to be on everything and they paid for the lumper

    Brother you got a nice setup. I’m sure you did your homework before coming out here. It’s tough as a new owner operater, with the bad rates, and overly priced insurance, but you sound like you know what you are doing! Good luck and I hope you get subscribers.
    Over the years I have watched you tubers promote this trucking industry as it was a cash cow but as soon as the market tank, they tanked.
    Some of them are still trying to put out content but most of them are not on RUclips anymore.
    I’ve been trucking for about 20 years with my own authority, it can be brutal, but if your overall lifestyle does not exceed your trucking income, then you can make it.
    Good luck my bro. You are in my book with “Trucking with Tay”. It’s always good to see brothers promoting positivity, instead of promoting the nonsense that brings down our people!

    • @InterstateMadeMe
      @InterstateMadeMe  10 месяцев назад

      I appreciate you brotha I just wanna inspire ppl and show ppl the real side of trucking. All my content is real and I’m not telling lies for views I really wanna help ppl and show them the real industry starting out as a new owner op with a new authority

    • @tyb2702
      @tyb2702 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@InterstateMadeMe yes it’s good content. Just build relationships with brokers and don’t expose your rates too much.
      You got justruckin who came on you tube humble and he was going out of business when the market tanked during the pandemic.
      Then he started bragging about the amount of money he was making from brokers and he was showing recorded phone calls.
      Guys like Justin made this industry worse because he exploited the business only to end up not really being a “true truck driver”. Everything he did was just to build a channel.
      Guys like you, “Sammy/Make Cents”; LibraDude; HalfKrazy; Hotshotbenni; FloridaTruckRiderz; the list goes on. They have great trucking content.
      Surprisingly, all that was just mentioned haul either flatbed or reefer. I’m hauling dryvan and it’s just a pitfall of losers who come out here, the cheapest way, and when the market gets sour, they either go back to being a company driver or back to whatever career field they originally came from.
      Over the past three years, people have been able to get into house flipping, trucking, air bnb, and other forms of making money. But if you don’t have a passion in any area, you will eventually fail in all of them.
      Next year rates should bounce back and by then all the losers will have left the trucking industry. Keep up your good work. You will survive. You drove for 8 years prior. You are not an overnight youtube made truck driver.
      You are a good brother, who seem like they put all they ducks in a row, and made the smooth transition from company to owner operator. 🦾🙏🏾👍🏿
      Congratulations!!!!!

    Just subscribed to you !!! We think you can do it !!!! Yup best freight lanes really are Indiana/Chicago to Texas to Atlanta that is the triangle but if you get into polishing don’t waste your money and time on the creams or liquids it’s not worth your time with them wiping on and wiping off crap it’s not worth it at all but we stand on all the way on the Cutting and Coloring that’s the way to go !!!!!
    Cutting & Coloring
    Use Compounds and Wheels
    Brown compound with a orange wheel
    Green compound with the yellow wheel
    Blue compound with the white wheel
    All Zephyr Compound and wheels buy 9inch wheels and no more than 3500 rpm for a buffer 3000 rpm is perfect Hope this helps you on your journey young man stay Prayed Up !!!!
    Ohhh and to clean up the residue use Zephyr 40 it’s not a head turner it’s TRUE SHOW TRUCK AT ALL TRUCK SHOW POLISHING !!!!
    SUPER EASY TO DO ONCE YOU FIGURE IT OUT ITS GOING TO CHANGE THE GAME !!!!
    Just watch a couple videos on Cutting & Coloring and you will be in there too !!!!!!!!!!!! It’s not hard at all but get a respirator but I promise you that you will show up and show out because you are on the right track

But it is not efficient as you already know I'm sure. Multi stop short drops is going to be your best bet! To see a profit and manage fuel for that thirsty hood! Only reason I bring it up is because I had 2 of them bout put me out of business lol.. I wish you the best of luck we out of Cleveland 🤙🏼🤙🏼

    Think like a business owner, not a trucker. Do your books daily. Know what your mpg is and how can you raise it. How to reduce expenses, write down all your miles to record them unless your eld will do it. White sheet your route to see where to fuel. Remove the IFTA to see who is cheaper on fuel and get a discount card! Think how to do it for less.

    Update. Another idea, 4 inch strap, ball valve. front axle trailer (assuming leveling valve is on rear axle) when empty, run tires up on block dump suspension, run strap under axles missing S cam and wires over slide frame and hook to its self. should raise empty mpg about 1.5, oh and please no rolling coal that is just fuel out the stack. Empty boost should be no more than 15 psi, loaded different story. Yes loaded to 65 at 75K was 2 miles. but that was me. BTW, White sheet ifta? I averaged $35-50 a year in road tax because I paid attention to each state. compare Ohio to Pa. remove the fuel tax and see who is cheaper. Next Get on paper 100 Gal. from Pa. IFTA rate and Ohio and see how far that will go down the road. Harrisburg, Pa. 200 Gallons will get you down 81 to 40, to 75 to Ft.Myers area. 6.8 mph.

    What I do to stay cool at night/when I’m about to stop. I got a $30 fan I plug into my inverter but I already have the curtain pulled with the air on max. Just a suggestion until you get a APU. I’ve also saw older trucks with the A/C unit that you have to crack your window to let the hot air/water drip. Now last thing these know it all’s in the comments gotta stop. Majority are scared to even bet on yourself and take a chance.

      If you don’t understand lanes and freight than maybe but if the dispatcher has connections and contacts and maybe direct freight it could be great but if they just running you off the board figure things out and dispatch yourself
