My seal was about 2 inches to short, so I put it in the sun for a few hours and then used a hair dryer to help stretch it into place. What a PITA!! But looked great when finished.
Can't wait to see the sliding window frame install video as it will help me greatly when I replace my rear sliding window frame once this winter is over
It's exactly the same install as this, 100%. We actually started out to install a slider in this video, but the owner of the truck said he would prefer if we put a standard glass in it. Thanks for watching!
@@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV I think you might find the two installations to be very different and I'm sure there are many others that would also like to see the sliding window metal frame install just as I do
@@jessiej3991 We've done both installs, they are the same, no doubt about it. The pinch seam around the metal frame gets treated just like as if it was the edge of a piece of glass. The ONLY difference is that in some spots the metal frame is slightly more difficult to work around with the tools than it is on a standard glass.
You all prolly dont care at all but does any of you know a tool to log back into an Instagram account?? I stupidly forgot my account password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me!
Great video, thank you for doing these videos David. You give THE BEST tips, tricks and advice!! My Dad has a 77 Chevy Blazer and is currently retired. He has a bit of trouble with doing things these days (arthritis & lack of patience) so I am trying to step in to lend a hand. He went on an LMC shopping spree so there are 3 huge boxes of random items that I want to put to use. I'm an rx tech so mechanics is still kind of foreign to me, but with your videos I feel more confident in helping do this project. Thanks again and if you can, pray for my Dad because if this goes well I might try to add some pink accents to his blazer😂😂 (I have a buddy that told me about this thing called "powder coating", and it sounds fun)
You should do outtakes at the end of the video showing what you really think of these types of jobs. Especially those little corner pieces....Hahahaha. Love the vids!
You make it look so easy, spent three days trying to install mine, managed to tear the seal! Have up, got a new deal and paid a professional to do it. It took him a long longer than he anticipated!!

@@kenworthcustomlogisticstru8096 Depending on the extent of the rust and damage, you could cut it out and do a proper repair, grind the rust away and epoxy it then shape the epoxy, or just clean it up and ignore the problem as long as it's not creating a gap that would let wind/water in.

A person could probably use a piece of that yellow rope out about 1/8 have it in the rubber and then pull it out as you set the window in and it would set the rubber on top of the window?
Yeah, that's a different type of rubber that method works on! These rubbers that require a locking bead don't install that way. We have another video that shows that method, but we noticed you already found it. Thanks for watching!
Thanks David! Do you know of a parts store that keeps the installation tools in stock? Going to be "attempting" this by myself (Lord help me please) mon/tue.
You can order them on Amazon and have them in a couple days if you plan ahead. Otherwise you can try your local parts store but it's likely they won't have all you need.
We don;t sell Ford parts, and therefore have no experience dealing with any vendors. So because we can't reliably recommend anyone, we suggest you just Google it. Thank for watching!
I have your sliding rear window, and your standard seal, to install on my 84 C10 with stock sliding window. Can this be installed using the rope in method. Or does it have to be done like in this video. Thanks!
I used the roping method on my side window in a suburban. Those of that same bead lock style. I fought the window for 3 hours trying to do it this way. I roped in with a friend in a matter of minutes.
Will the seal on your website work with stock sliding glass? I have a seal from precision weatherstripping and they say their seal will not work with stock sliding glass.
We don't see why it wouldn't? Both the Factory Slider and the regular glass mount the same way. Our seals work with sliders and solid glass too. Is there a specific PRP Part # you could share and we'll check into it further?
@@camkitchiner We carry that same seal and have used it on factory sliders successfully in the past. We can't see any reason it wouldn't work for you. It's possible they say that because the factory slider frame is slightly thinner than an actual piece of solid glass which may cause a looser fit? We're not sure. FWIW, we also recently did a factory slider install using the WCR 1135 which says it won't work either, but we had no problems.

Could I reuse the bead lock?
You can if it's still pliable. Most of the time they harden and you'll need to replace it when you replace the seal.
Makes you wonder how they did it at the factory. Looks like a time consuming process.
Once you do enough of them it gets easier and FASTER.
Good way to lose weight
Haha!
