GREAT INTERVIEW: So i started playing guitar for Levert 1985ish, met Johnny after a show we did in DC, I remember him driving that Cresida (silver i think), he complimented my playing, didn't know he played guitar at that time. years later, 11-10-06 Gerald passed & Johnny did a show filling for G's spot opening up for the Ojays, Like in the interview looking out for folks in need, he added some of Gerald's band/singers to that & future show's over the next couple of years. he's been a blessing to many. I currently still do 3/4 fill in shows a year with him (some with Ralph on the show was well & he performs the hell out of 'boys to men' still). Great dude, Great job gentlemen.
Two of my favorite things about this podcast is Tank being fully committed to Stevie being able to see and whenever Tyrese randomly catches a stray outta nowhere! I be dying! 😂
@@BloodbrotherAsh yes I had to keep doing a double take J. Valentine and his brother looks so much alike but his life story needs to be made into a movie especially when talking about their childhood life and his father..🤣🙌🏾❤️
Yes!!! The balance of Ralph and Johnny on Can you stand the Rain was so perfect and will go down in history and was a genius move, love NE- Fan for life!!!! 🥰😍🤩
Hearing how Johnny joined the group without conflict was refreshing. He played his position and it never took anything away from his light. Reminds me of how Tank moves. He’ll do whatever and all it does is make his light shine brighter.
I was an assistant at Johnny’s old distributor, and when I tell you he was my favorite artist to visit us! So personable and hilarious all the time to everyone, not just the execs. And although we didn’t distro NE, the rest of the guys would always join him coming to the office just in support of him. I love their brotherhood
You can that this is one of the BEST interviews Johnny Gill has had in a LONG time . He is truly himself. His laughter, body language and energy is on 💯 for real for real!
You can tell Johnny was an old pimp..all them old cats clap their knees together when they laugh. 😂 😂😂😂😂 This was awesome! So good to know a different side of him and learn things we never knew. He’s definitely part of all of our teen years into adulthood. The music is timeless!
J Valentine wearing that shirt and he asks questions that delve into the guests’ history. Johnny Gill speaking the truth about respect, life, and death. Tank has a vivid memory of music moments. It’s the laughter for me😂😂😂! Those Brothers are wrapped and sealed in that R&B Life!
That's the key thing: respecting each other and allowing each other to be heard, not dismissive. Great nuggets! Who knew Johnny was a mediator? That Rev card turned out to be useful 😆❤️
Boys 2 Men will always be my favorite song! I always thought as a kid that the song was called growing pains and was for all of us but no, it for boys…to men 🤣 While I want us ladies to have an anthem, this song is still my favorite coming of age song ☺️ I be just singing my little girlish heart out 😆 Whenever I’m feeling down like adulthood is the ghetto (cause it is😆) I play that song (which means I play it regularly 😆) I LOVE that song! Johnny and Ralph are a special combination. Johnny looks amazing and like everyone said man, it warms my heart to see grown men laughing and smiling like this. R&B money is bringing back that sense of timeless when it comes music and I am sooo here for it! Love this podcast!
I felt when Johnny talked about his mother I just lost my mother in August this year to cancer, she fought for four long years, her body gave up before she did, but it was hard watching her decline, especially when I had to leave her to get back to my family which she wanted because I lived hundreds of miles away and I have two brothers and a sister with her, but it's one of the hardest lost I've ever experienced 😢 R.I.P to his mother.
Condolences 🙏. The 17th this month will be 8 years since my Mother transitioned. Johnny honored his Mother well through the pain you never get over. Just a little easier with a Lot of time.
When I lost my mom it felt as if a literal hole had been ripped through my heart ❤️. I left for work our last conversation she reassured me she was okay. I arrived home that morning about 3:00 a.m. from work and she wad gone. My solace came in my knowledge that she had a relationship with God. My mother was fortunate throughout her battle with cancer (lung) to look at her you would have never known she had cancer. Prior to that diagnosis she lost part of a foot to melanoma. Not once did she ever complain, cry or throw up her hands in despair. In my moments of weakness with life I’m reminded of her strength. ❤❤❤❤❤ she is with me .
This was an excellent episode!! I'm a faithful watcher and I thoroughly enjoyed this one. I got to see the real Johnny Gill without paying the $200 for the meet and greet after the concert. Thank you for fulfilling a dream of mine.
