You're quite the inspiration - my layout is my winter hobby here in the USA as we are usually snowed in. As an expat working in OO all my rolling stock has to come from back home but it's worth it. Keep it up, learning a ton from you - looking forward to your coach weathering video.
I have to say thanks I've been struggling on a tunnel portal making them and you have explained it simple thanks for giving me I dears keep up the work
Love the updates! Thanks for all the info, as a new comer to the hobby you've answered a lot of my wonderings. Cheers, can't wait to see the end product.
Loved the video and I am really looking forward to seen how you do your scenery can't wait for the next video hopefully it won't be long. Just finished my helix and I would like to thank you as your video on building a helix was a great inspiration and guide. Anthony
Looking good as ever! I can't wait to see how you build your motorway section in the new cutting. I am currently putting a motorway section over the top of my railway and I am in desperate need of inspiration.
lookin exellent, like the job you done on the tunnels, i used the metcalfe ones and they were vertually the same as what you made, iv got the tree kit as well and you have made me want to go and make some,( its funny how that works lol ) so thanks very much
cool stuff.the layout is looking better every time i see it.you have done a good job with the tunnels.and i also use the wooldand scenics trees as they look the most realistic by far. looks like the both of us are going to be very busy this summer.
@pyronathanpyro The slight texture of the sandpaper, makes the wall look a little bit more realistic. Nothing wrong with a cereal box, I've done that many times.
@anthony566 It wouldn't be very easy to do it with the layout up there. The problem is that I have no heating, so even with insulation the room couldn't warm up.
Another helpful video, thanks! I like your idea about the tunnel entrance. I am currently putting base boards in my loft, so hope to have the structure ready in the next couple of weeks. Then I will be getting started! One question for you, what track do you use? I am thinking of using PECO Code 100. What do you use? Keep the great videos coming mate!
Scale model trees should be somewhere between 25-30cm. Much, much bigger than most people think. Most trees out and about are 50-75ft, if you want to make really good models I suggest you buy Modelling Trees: Part one: Broadleaf Trees by Gordon Gravett. Regards, Nick
Great update progess there again bud, such a simple thing the tunnel that lot dont do and makes a big difference. Same for them hand made tree`s same as Evert (thebigE61) does and look far better then the smaller ready made tree`s. look forward to more EJ updates. cheers ken.
I want to make a tunnel on my layout, and this is the only thing I can find with clear instructions. However, the area where it will go is curved. Do you reccomend using the same method, and make it look curved with scenery, or should I use a differant mthod/materials? Please help, Matthewmodeller229
@hornbytrains125 You could by an old, second hand one with a dud motor. Just remove the motor and it should be OK. I did that to one of my Hornby 0-4-0s for double heading
Is it possible to buy locos that do not have moters and run free. For example, class 20s run in pairs so could I buy one that runs free to work with one that has a moter?
So Simple, saves a few quid, and yet very effective.Just goes to show if you use your head anything is possible.Nice layout, thanks for sharing.

@bloodmarine77 Thanks, I was very impressed by the trees. I'm hoping to get a lot done over the next few months in terms of scenery.

looks like the both of us are going to be very busy this summer.
@SuperWin87 You will have to put a proper floor up there. Unless you fancy falling through the ceiling!
@jasonandjoesrailway Except the HST my longest passenger train is 6 coaches. These fit in the station quite well.
@pyronathanpyro The slight texture of the sandpaper, makes the wall look a little bit more realistic. Nothing wrong with a cereal box, I've done that many times.
Great video and thanks for the how to build the tunnels.
@anthony566 It wouldn't be very easy to do it with the layout up there. The problem is that I have no heating, so even with insulation the room couldn't warm up.
@bartoncessna1 I would say that the layout fills about 38 square feet of space.
@Sopwith16 Thanks, a lot of time was spent getting hold of all the coaches for it.
i just love your vids mate i wish i was like you ive been collecting for 17 years never got that much keep up the excellent work
@wattass7 Good luck with the trees. They're good fun to make.
@jaannetts16 Thanks, the woodland scenics stuff is very good.
@Brinkly1000 Thanks, the largest trees I have at the moment are 18cm, might need to get some bigger ones then.
5***S the layout is a really good size and the trees look amazzing.
Excellent update. Really enjoyed it. Do you wish u had made your platforms longer now you got full rakes of trains.

@P90DLS Thanks, the helix is good fun.
@DaveClass47 I use Peco code 100 too. It's top quality stuff that lasts forever, you can't go wrong.
@jacobporrett I use a lenz dcc system
@MACRweb I do some re-paints for a friend who models N gauge.
@BlackViperSRT10 Standard Hornby ones.
Nice :) like the update but why sandpaper in the tunnels i just got black paper or cerial box card and painted it black :) cheers
@bazkath I use a Panasonic HDC-SD60
nice work looks great!
not sure yet
can you do a video showing all of your locomotives and rolling stock?
@123ps3boy Yes, I have plans to do that.
Great video like the tunnels and the trees. How dp you control youe trains?
@anthony566 A max of 6 is possible, but I tend to run 4 or 5.
Layout looking great as always, I use that way of making trees too. What camera and Video editor do you use?
looking forward to the weathering video
@EverardJunction How many trains can you have running at once with the lenz?
@EWSclass66 70mm should be ok, I think mine are 70 or 80mm.
What would you be using to make the cables for the fake point motors ? String or something ? Thanks in advance !
Very carefully with a screwdriver
So jealous of that HST!!!

@EverardJunction Very Nice and same here, I am a Sony Vegas user too :) Hope my layout will look as good as this one day :)
BEST MODEL RAILWAY EVER!
Is that an X-box on the floor when showing us the trees at your desk?
@hornbytrains125 You could by an old, second hand one with a dud motor. Just remove the motor and it should be OK. I did that to one of my Hornby 0-4-0s for double heading
I would like to see a steam engine go around the layout
Is it possible to buy locos that do not have moters and run free. For example, class 20s run in pairs so could I buy one that runs free to work with one that has a moter?
Really good update, are you thinking of insulating your loft ?

Thanks a lot,
Mike
@mjrennie No problem mate. Just send me a PM over RUclips and I'll get back to you.
What camcorder do you use for your videos? They're excellent quality.

Good avice on Tunnels :-D
How come the rear lights on your hst unit are white and not red ?
Wow
I just use a knife to cut it off the roll.
Great stuff, looking forward to the next instalment.
