Rob, in times gone by I’ve bought and driven cars in far worse condition and been very thankful for them. It would have been invaluable to somebody down on their luck. My dad always told me a second class drive is still better than a first class walk 😀👍
Sad to see it scrapped when it was a sound runner.. Your standards are sometimes too high Rob, not every owner worries about a few scrapes here and there if the price is right. There's probably many people who viewed this video today from the 52K that would have bought it from you at no loss. So be it. Good content none the less.

This, ladies and gentleman has been a Salvage Rebuilds HMRC production. Not all deals end up with mega profits. Sometimes you have to take one step backwards to get two step forwards. Thanks for showing what it’s really like and the real pitfalls that can happen in this line of work.
You have to look at the big picture and that's what you're doing, its how successful business trade for years, glad you post this stuff to show its not all cash profit 😀
Rob after thoroughly watching this video today for the second time I wish to express in my humble opinion, that with a good clean inside and outside you could have sold it as it is and made a couple of hundred quid profit since it runs and drives.Any way no use crying over spilled milk. However you have a good bond with this gentle man called Mark from the scrap yard and made him earn a certain amount of money in selling him this car for breaking it up for spares.
Part of being a motortrader Rob, we all get caught once in a while. Dealing your way out of trouble is the art of the job. Knowing when to hold and when to fold!
For those who have followed you and Chris for sometime, we know this was simply a gamble with a very small sum of money. We know you would never do this sort of thing with any large amount of cash. There is nothing to be down-hearted about. In fact let it be a lesson to everyone. Onward and upward my friends 😄😄😄
Focus in the scrap yard is Aquarius Blue, yours Vision Blue. It's also a pre facelift at the scrap yard. Different creases in the door too. Edit: you made the right choice in scrapping that car, hopefully your next seizure vehicle is a better one, if there will be a next one.
How that car has been treated is uncalled for. It’s a shame to scrap it, these focuses are great cars, it deserved to be sold cheap to someone who will put in the work and put back on the road, didn’t need a huge lot to do.
I've never met anyone yet, private buyer or professional who hasn't bought a pig, it's life and I don't expect I ever will meet someone who hasn't. You both did the right thing by letting Kent Auto Salvage take it.
Not understanding why you thought the car was so bad????? It ran good. Minor scratches on doors. Inside definitely could be cleaned. It just didnt look bad!!!!!
I reckon you could have cleaned it and had a small profit out of it. At £595 it would have made a cheap runabout for someone to get them out of trouble.
Times have changed..As a Young car owner in the 80's...Car scrap yards were full of accident damage or Rotten cars...Today you'll see stacks of straight 10 year old cars with unviable repair expense costs ...It's a throw away society now..and business is business..Its as if there has been a 360 in the decades...40 years ago you'd have good motors in Rotten cars...Today you have Rotten engines and electronics in solid cars..

Omg the audio is absolutely spot on, well done Rob. The vids are perfect for me now, right balance between quality and content without the faffy overproduction you see on TV and other channels. Top job 👍👍
For a dvla car seizure thats pretty clean, I buy many off them and thats above average. Especially at that price as the scrap men are bidding 340 min for cars now.
99.9% of cars uplifted & sold by DVLA are because of NO tax...test...insurance...&..are too expensive to repair & put back on road...these cars are only worth 2 balloons 🎈 & a bag of marbles...lesson learnt lads , we,ve all blew ££ in car trade...looking forward to fridays video..
Definitely the right thing to do! As you say, you're also helping out with giving them a car to recycle, the old phrase.. "You scratch my back and I'll scratch yours" comes to mind! Keep up the good work on these vids.👍
Such a shame a good running car had to be scrapped. I would’ve happily paid a grand for that in that condition and used it as a runaround. The dents and scrapes wouldn’t have bothered me.
Rob, it’s not just the colour, the pre-facelift doors are a slightly different shape, you can see the creases under the handles on your one, not the same on the one at the yard.
That blue doors you was comparing at the scrap yard was a door to the pre facelift focus. So it would have been wrong regardless. But never the less. Great content!
That would have been a great runabout for someone on a tight budget, I think it’s a British thing, people in Europe or further afield don’t have the same attitude towards the cosmetics that we have. I totally understand why they want to keep a good relationship with the breakers yard though.
Rob that was never a loss..... been watching your channel from the start and the number of times you said Mark let us have these bits free of charge im pretty sure your still well in profit 👌 also nice to return a favour to someone who looks after you 👏👏

How have you managed to lose money on a £300 car than runs fine and someone would pay £700 for 😅 all you had to do was advertise it honesty for £750 and someone would have taken it off your hands.. more money than sense.. just taken a cheap car away from someone who may have been struggling.. so stupid

I'd buy half a dozen at the dvla seizure auction, meet the key guy down there, he'd do the keys, half of them had been abandoned due to serious mechanical issues, stopped going eventually.

You nailed it Rob with saying you can't win them all and don't let it put you off looking for others especially like the van,you play the long game and as you say Mark always looks after you🙂👍
Usually i would agree with what you guys do but in this case i have to say i think i would have just cleaned it up as best as possible and sold it on, someone would have got some use out of it and improved it over time, shame really
Got to be in it to win it guys!, you don't lose out often, but its good for folks to see that even skilled guys like you can be caught out occasionally.
It was a scabby car but if the chassis is good then I wouldn't scrap it. Put it through an auction because someone who is desperate for a cheap runabout would bid on it.
Ah no! That didn't deserved to get scrapped. That was a working on the road car! You could've at least got £1k for that knowing the price used cars, I would've loved that myself as its a lovely colour and only cosmetic easy to put right and paint too. It wouldn't even have put the slightest dent in your reputation to have sold that on. But anyway next time guys , keep up the good work.
This car was fine, absolutely no need to sell it to salvage… really strange! It ran fine, good tyres, good clutch, engine purred lovely… basically scrapped it for a few dents and scratches
hard to get cheap diesels right now.someone could of had a cheap runner whos not got a lot of money and the cars still motd to feb and shame to of scrapped it.i would of run it myself.

That’s a shame Rob. I’d have paid you what you were owed for it and driven it away. Chuck a cheap secondhand interior in from the scrapyard and a couple of doors, job done.
Totally agree
Got to be in it to win it guys!, you don't lose out often, but its good for folks to see that even skilled guys like you can be caught out occasionally.
It was a scabby car but if the chassis is good then I wouldn't scrap it. Put it through an auction because someone who is desperate for a cheap runabout would bid on it.
There’s a lot to be said for being honest and straight, you can’t win them all, thanks for showing it ❤
When I was desperate for transport I would have been happy to buy that from you for the price you paid.
Both doors are blue, be a good run around for some poor blighter. 😁
A decent bonnet would have tipped the scales, I think.
Its so good for you to be totally honest and show us the bad side as well, thanks.
Rob I’ve just been reading a lot of the other comments. If this is your only loss for 2022 then believe me you’ve had a “Right Tickle” son !!! Good Luck 😉
