Great picks. I have Au Coeur du Desert and it is wonderful. I've been meaning to try Medittorosa's line. My top ambers would definetly include Battaniye by Pekji. It's simultaneously ashy, syrupy and comforting. There's a wool accord that makes it one of the most cozy scents I've tried.

Hi Cathy! Have you tried Fort & Manle's 'Amber Absolutely'? Wow, what a dry down. I've smelled nothing quite like it, it's a juicy amber with a touch of sourness from 'the squeeze', if that's even possible. Incredibly moreish and perfect for a woman who likes unisex scents but needs something without astringency or strong spices. :)
Fragrance du Bois - Amber Intense! I am a woman, and on me it smells amazing, the best amber perfume I ever experienced. It is so refined and calming. Love, love. love it!
Well I am new to your chanel and dont know you well and your choice of ciel de gum over grand soir did surprise me. I own them both and no one i mean no one talks about ciel de gum. You sir have my attention and a new subscriber. If you want a fewer cheaper offerings check out costume national soul. That is a very bright amber with ambergris that is also a marine like amber. Also les jeux sont faits is a sleeper amber to me and a great fragrence with tobacco. If you want some real cheapies armafs niche oud and lattafas ameer al oud intense oud are real cheap arabic fragrence bangers. Cheers mate! -Ramsey

Agree! He did a terrific job here. So many RUclipsrs who concentrate on fragrance reviews appear to do absolutely no preparation before filming and have infuriatingly limited vocabularies, to add insult to injury. Why people with no flair for speaking and no gift for creatively communicating olfactory experiences persist in filming these very niche types of videos I will NEVER understand. Don't they have anybody in their lives whose constructive criticism they seek out and value?! It reads as delusion and arrogance and I feel a bit sorry for them as they never improve the quality of their content. Some channels are head and shoulders above the others. When you have the brilliant extraordinarily creative and laugh-out-loud funny Fragrantica reviewers to compete with, in a way, you gotta up your game, right? And so many of these people just don't. Very formulaic and dull to boot. Where's the inspiration?! Grumble grumble. ;)
Oh God, when you mentioned MFK I was praying NOT TO BE Grand Soir! :)) So good match with your tastes and you really know A LOT about perfumery! Way better channel than many many others out there. Keep up the good work!

Hey Dimitri, can you please review some of Arron Terrence Hughes perfumes. I especially am interested in Ambre Extreme, Onyx, Patchouli Noir, Dirty Slut, Deviant and Oxytocin. I already own Santal Extreme and it’s really very nice. A very nice Sandalwood scent but sadly it’s not extreme. It lasted maybe an hour on me. But it is a beautiful scent anyway. I hope you will be able to review at least some of the ATH perfumes I mentioned, I very much respect your opinions and honest reviews of fragrances. I didn’t ask any of the other reviewers to do a review of ATH perfumes because I don’t trust them to be truthful. Oh Andy Tauer is a creative genius. It's always exciting to find something new by him. His fragrances are impossible to duplicate. They may have second cousins twice removed, but NEVER a sister fragrance you could could substitute them with. I also love the psychedelic experience he provides, where his fragrances all immediately call to mind beautiful old antique and vintage classics but then just explode in the most incredibly unexpected, avant-garde way. So the fragrances are thrilling yet comfortable and incredibly elegant. What fun, it's what we all turn to the niche world for and never find enough of. The excitement is in the hunt. He's in a league of his own.

Have you tried Ô Hira by Stephan Humbert Lucas 777? I love his oriental fragrances, and thought you might like this special amber. It’s a cozy, spicy amber unlike any amber fragrance I’ve tried. Top notes: Amber - Leather - Woody notes - Styrax Middle notes: Salpetre - Amber - Cinnamon Base notes: Tonka bean - vanilla - Musk O Hira is expensive but worth the price.
I actually own Ambre Précieux, and enjoy wearing it a lot. It is the kind of fragrance that perform even better when it blends with body chemistry. The first time I sprayed it, it reminded me of Pour un homme de Caron mixed with Grand Soir from MFK. But on the skin it evolved in such a beautiful/warm/spicy way that I fell in love. It's also super long lasting.

How do they classify “Amber” fragrances that are not sweet? I’m not a big fan of Syrupy sweet Ambers, (Heavy Benzoin or Vanilla) which tend to lean towards Gourmand territory. Spicy Fragrances such as Tobacco Vanille, Black Phantom, Carlisle, or Oajan have become favorites during colder months.
