- Welcome to the San Diego Rail Cam @ Santa Fe Depot. This is the last and furthest south stop on the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner. The camera is located above track four between Ash St on the North and Broadway on the South. 32.71747, -117.17023. The camera is fixed, pointing north towards Ash St. The viewing area is tight and provides privacy to the adjacent high rise apartments. We are not broadcasting sound. Downtown San Diego is in a quiet zone so you normally would not hear train horns. More information about the camera and what you are seeing can be seen in this video:
• San Diego Railcam...
There are six tracks visible in the frame. The street at the top of the frame is Beech and the Little Italy Trolley Station. Ash street is the closest crossing you can see to the camera.
The MTS light rail Trolleys run on two tracks on the far right with the overhead wires. These are the Blue and Green lines.
The AMTRAK SURFLINER and the regional COASTER trains use tracks one (on the right) through four (on the left directly below the camera). Amtrak and COASTER rarely use track four. Track four is normally used for passenger loading when the other tracks are busy and when special trains run, such as for Padre games.
Track four goes through the platforms to the rail yards about one mile south of here, and beyond. Track four is used by BNSF freight trains, primarily at night. There are usually four freight trains passing thought here at night.
