  • This is a 15 mm army built to represent the armies of Poland during the renaissance era. This army was painted and built with Miniature figures trying to re-create the look feel and spirit of the Polish army during the renaissance. The figures are from Legio Heroica and Essex.

      Well, thank you very much. My painting style has evolved and it’s getting much better. But you can see different areas of painting in that army. I started it 25 years ago and I can actually see the difference in the units but I like keeping them that way because it tells a story and has history. No pun intended. I look back and remember exactly when and where I was when I was painting it. But thank you for honoring me this day.

    Amazing! I am also building a 15mm Polish renaissance army, I have shown some of the figures on my channel. Your army is fantastic, the color and variety is great.

      Thank you for your reply. I’ll have to go back to your channel and see some of the figures that you painted. That might have escaped my eyes. Thank you for reminding me. I’m glad that you like them my… my Poles I mean. I think the winged hussars turned out wonderful.

    Very nice sir
    I bought a job lot some years ago of 15mm minifigs figures - unknown after identifying them I found most were Polish Renaissance figures-your army is very inspiring to get these lads painted up.
    Btw you could also split up your army ie Cossacks and muscovites etc and have some very interesting games. I always try to either do two armies to oppose each other or an army like imperial Roman’s and Japanese samurai I can split to have say a civil war scenario.
    Thank you very much for posting this video.

      Hi Sydney, greetings to a fellow gamer Downunder. I’m in Atlanta Georgia which you are going into your summer and I am moving slowly into our winter. You are absolutely right the army of the poles could easily be split into two parts the Muscovite, some hingarians units that I have and with Cossacks. I always mix and match. Often times I get figures from people that are in bad shape. I love restoring figures and adding a little paint here and there. Give it a good wash, highlights and good basing and pow. Often times that’s all that’s needed. Flags as well. Now if you need some good polish flags I can send you some.

      You are very welcome. I actually love this army they’re extremely colorful. I keep wanting to add to it. I don’t know why I just want to paint more and more winging to science because there’s so much fun to look at, but you can’t possibly put them on the gaming table

      Was just looking again at what you wrote. I would try 10mm. There are lots of these out there today. I bought a kislev army. Was meant to be in 10mm but the winged hussars were wonderful. Pendragon etc have nice sculpts. The playing field is much smaller. Might be an option.

    Its kind of desesperating how hard is to find information about the polish army of 1500s in comparison to the one of 1600s
    Great army, you had inspired me to try to create 2 armies for hail caesar one romand and one carthaginian in 15mm

    • @thekrausecollection15mmmin53
      @thekrausecollection15mmmin53  9 месяцев назад +1

      Do you know you’re right it is not easy but the polls of the medieval era up to 1500s are very similar to the Polish army you would find at the battle of Grunwald. Most cavalry and lots of Lithuanians. I’m also experimenting with the rules two the strongest. I might like to see how that plays out, but the basing is still the same no matter how you base your army you should be able to try out different rules for your enjoyment but I’m glad you like this Army.

      @@thekrausecollection15mmmin53 The painting depicting the Battle of Orsha (1514) shows the Polish Renaissance army on the right. It differed little from other Renaissance armies except for the use of early hussars - which were then the light cavalry of Serbian mercenaries. The introduction of the Hungarian infantry dates back to the times of King S. Batory (from 1576).

      Oh that’s great. I’m just doing another battle report using Hannibal from Little wars TV. I was always interested to try it and it’s turning out to be a very fun game. Indeed I’m surprised but you’re right it’s hard to find information in regards to the army of the polls for the 1500s, you can find a lot about them after the siege of Vienna. It’s almost like that’s when people noticed their ferocity. And of course, then with the wars of religion, they really came into the limelight. So if you going to build Romans and Carthaginians, what manufacturer are you going to use?
