My Scene is my favorite doll line ❤️ I began collecting them (mostly Madison/Westley and some Nolee) a few years ago. It's challenging, but rewarding 😊Few people release content on them...so it's nice to see a thorough caretaking video of these beauties. Thanks for sharing:)
It's definitely challenging- especially on a budget! They're beautiful. I don't see myself collecting all of them but this line was one of the ones I most wanted so I was very excited to get the whole line for a nice price!
@@xCanadensis Yeah, 20 years is vintage, the original my scene dolls came out in 2001, making the line vintage. Tho it hurts my soul as I'm 16 and grew up with a bunch of them 💀
Hi I'm Kai and I have been a subscriber to your channel for a while my advice is to take aluminum foil just a small piece folded around the ends of the hair and then roll them with straws then Royal wash and let it sit and dry it brings almost beautiful curls into doll's hair make sure when you roll them and add the Saran wrap that it is still wet and watch how beautiful it would be and shiny
to curl the hair I would wrap the hair around perm rollers or straws(if straws secure with bobby pins) and then dip the hair in boiling water and leave it for 20 seconds - a minute or 2, then dip it into ice water immediately(the ice water can also help straighten mangled ends because it sets the style)
Love this video! When my scene Barbies came out I like how different they were. I like how they word Trek competition two brats and that there shoes didn't remove their feet when you took them off LOL. At the time I wasn't actively collecting fashion dolls, but I did purchase the original first release dolls and the original first released fashion packs and still have them all inbox. I'm not sure why I never unbox them, I think that was back when I like to keep newer purchases inbox. Until I finally realized that I can't afford to live somewhere and be a box collector LOL
My mom told me that she didn't like Bratz but thought My Scene were beautiful. I always thought that was interesting. I love them both though :) That's awesome that you still have them all these years later! I have the financial means to start collecting more dolls in box but it just doesn't make me as happy (though with Rainbow High I've been slowly collecting dolls in box and enjoying that...)
ugh I had barbie with the chain belly band and the pleather cream pants. i also had a red head one and the madison that came with a scooter. I'm pretty sure her legs were jointed as well. i miss them so much 😭 hopefully my sister has them because I had given most of my dolls to her. i noticed in a bin there were a few bratz that she had as well
Honestly, you can just wash their hair with shampoo and conditioner to keep the factory curl and basically get the same smooth result as a boil perm, just with the subtle factory wave/curl. Also MS is saran for the most part, their hair can take pretty serious heat. Of course test it, but you should have no issue with curlers and boiling water. The turtleneck came out amazing!!! Great job, can't wait to see more!
@@xCanadensis Nobody can, but you'll retain that factory wave at least with a wash and conditioner and no boiling water. No fabric softener, no leave in conditioner :)
Could you do a restoration video for your ponies? I would love to see that 💞 Thank you for your consistent uploads, your videos are the only things getting me through lockdown 😂😚
Unrelated but would you ever get the My Scene Goes to Hollywood Lindsay Lohan doll? I don’t like her (Lindsay Lohan) but I kinda want the doll, though it’s hard to find here in the UK lol
Sun damage is mostly permanent unless it’s on plastic, then you can fix it with UV+ hydrogen peroxide! Faded I’m not sure… I imagine re-dyeing but that’s not ideal
Yeah that moldy shirt EXPLODED with color-- I had to change all of the water and rinse the others off so that's why the clip was cut from the video :P. I left all but that one soaking for 10 minutes in warm water and them rubbed soap in before rinsing. I liked the result!
@@xCanadensis thank you so much girl, I’ll have to get one! By the way there’s a flashback fever fianna that just posted on Mercari she has her outfit and the top with both sleeves. $45 free shipping. Someone just put an offer but it hasn’t been accepted so she’s still available:)
I have Barbie as well and sewed her a white turtle neck too i- Also Barbie has saran hair, I feel like Madison has too🤔 And I would always try to get My Scene dolls as complete as possible since their pieces are really hard to find 💞
Oh really? It had some slight heat damage from my blow drying so I got scared and hid :( They were both complete- the shirt had a “small hole” according to the seller. Also that’s so random! I had some other options but went with white because none were subdued colors like her original :(
@@xCanadensis yes, i SWEAR she has saran, if Madison's hair feels the same it's also saran lmao And I meant if you plan to get more my scenes in the future since I live in in Germany where my scenes are quite common but have been looking for sum pieces for like 3 years-
It feels like whatever most Barbie's have! My bad haha. I'm TERRIBLE with hair types. I thought it was weird when someone told me to be careful with the kanekalon since uh... it didn't feel like kanekalon :P Thank you! I'll look into Barbie tutorials since they've mostly got saran! Maybe the commenter was referring to my Juicy Bling doll? :) She DEFINITELY has kanekalon.
When I used to experiment with making doll clothes when I was younger I'd buy baby socks :) Fabric at the big box fabric stores doesn't always feel like "real" garment fabric. I need to find better sources haha
I'm pretty sure they have Saran hair actually. Most of them have this type of hair. I know the one with the Roller R/C do have kanekalon tho and some others. :)
You're right :) I don't know ANYTHING about Saran but because it got some heat damage from my blow dryer I got scared and hid haha! My Juicy Bling doll has Kanekalon for sure!
2:40 Completely agree, but My Scene seems to be super expensive?? I recently wanted to get a few of the toys I had as a kid, and they are like $40 without any accessories
I've been finding them in box for $50-$60 each. They seem to be MORE expensive out of box which is uh... funny... You just have to keep looking :) I bought from this seller instead of someone who had the full set boxed for $140 so I'm peeved about the undisclosed damage. It wasn't just a "small hole in the chest"- the entire back was torn and there were multiple holes in the front that got worse. I'm just going to give the seller the benefit of the doubt and hope I get a new shirt for miss Barbie eventually.
@@xCanadensis Yeah, I found that funny aswel, typically new is more expensive. Im sure I'll get ahold of Swapping Styles Barbie eventually as she's the one I played with the most as a kid. I would be pretty upset about the undisclosed damages too, I personally collect CDs and if I bought a CD that was more scratched then stated or just unplayable with a ridiculous price, I'd be seriously annoyed. I hope you get that shirt BTW, if the virus that shall not be named wasn't rampant, I'd suggest looking at thrift stores, since they tend to have doll clothes buried in the bins. 9 year old me used to dig through to the bottom to get all the shirts I could.
Can somebody confirm that all dolls from this line have kanekalon hair? I only have Chelsea from this line, and couldn't find any info about Chillin' Out specifically.
I think the shirt must’ve been destroyed by either dry rot or mold, I haven’t dealt with moths before so I wouldn’t know what anything about damage they can do but that’s sad that it was so destroyed 🥺
I actually had no idea mold could eat clothes but that makes more sense. I'm glad I didn't try to save the shirt because I don't want that spreading :(

The fact that you called them vintage in the title makes me feel old even tho I'm 17💀
Well they came out three years after I was born so I’m worse...
But 20 years ago is agreed to be vintage to my understanding

I have a tip if your doing doll laundry and leaving them to soak. Use a color catcher it will prevent the dye from bleeding.
