You don't really show or say how to use them you're just showing the different types of mixing valve. Thanks a lot

Mixing valves are used against scalding.
Wikipedia: "A thermostatic mixing valve (TMV) is a valve that blends hot water with cold water to ensure constant, safe shower and bath outlet temperatures, preventing scalding." Let's say you have a mixing valve rated at 50°C. When you turn on the hot water it will blend hot and cold water in just the right amount to get 50°C even though your hot water line is at 80°C for example.
There are other uses for a TMV as well: if you use mixed fuel boiler and a buffer tank it is recommended to install this as well. Here is the reason why: When the boiler reaches the temperature set on the termostat, the pump kicks in, then cold water flows into the system, temps go down again and the pump stops which is not ideal. However this valve can be used in such a way that it prevents cold water to enter the system, thus preventing pump shutoff. It can be connected to the cold water pipe of the boiler before the pump.

Quick question. Does it prevent HOT side to COLD side flow and vice versa from COLD side to HOT side flow. And happens if COLD side is cut-off? Would hot water go to COLD side? Similarly, what happens if HOT side is cut-off, would hot water will go to COLD side?

I have the valve with the knob showing Honeywell AM-1 Series ASSE 1017 with temperature 70-120F and the bottom of the valve showing MIX 1034. What is the part number for this valve?

@@mkgungor You might want to buy the repair kit AM-1-020RP before open the mixing valve in case any part of the lower assembly is damaged when you open it. I bought it before I open the valve but cleaning worked so I keep it for spare.

@@diemnguyen5107 Thank you again, yesterday I went to Lowe's and get a different brand with the same dimension, was twice expensive than the repair kid, but all the flashers etc were dried, baked, discolored, and broke when I try to dissemble... But now I have a brand new - nicely working valve... I searched for the problem in the wrong place at first, changed everything in my heater thermostats, and heating elements, and I noticed this valve when I try to touch the hot water pipe it was really hot. but the outgoing water after the valve is just warm... Now changing it without a plumber was a success. Thanks...

Hi, I don't need and don't want a mixing valve since I don't have a tank but a water on demand unit. I hate my mixing valve that keeps on failing and delays the output of hot water, making me waste all kinds of water.
My question is, does anyone sell a connection with the same ergonomic of a mixing valve, but without the mixing valve so that I can just take my valve out and replace it with the connection without having to fiddle with soldering? Is there an adapter of some sort to bypass and take out the mixing valve? Thanks.

Why would you have a mixing valve with tankless system? You had a tank before? Ok... plenty of ways to remove depending upon how your valve is tied in. Suggest you go to Facebook: Everyday Home Repairs Community It's a place DIYs and pros discuss projects and problems. Your problem would be address better there if you had pics. Good luck
