I like the idea of this fly, but when I tie some, I will leave a larger gap between the rump feathers to get a more streamlined profile and to avoid filling in the hook gap with too much material. The movement of the hackle should be great. Thanks for the demo.
I would just take the whole pheasant cape and tie it on the hook. That way it's quicker done.
A nice pattern and well presented. The guide fishing above me on the Saugeen River, Ontario in 2017 was using a similar pattern with great success. Thanks from down-under in NZ. I will make a few up for an American friend to fish the Tongariro River in NZ.
