Beginner fly tying: Peacock Woolly Bugger

  • In this video we sit down and tie a peacock woolly bugger. This fly is one of the most successful flies in my arsenal. Fish it dead drift, Swing it, or strip it it doesn't matter. This fly catches fish! If you want to see it in action take a look at my last video where I catch fish on a small stream with this fly. Tie 10 of them, they wont disappoint. hope you enjoy the video.
    Materials list
    Hook- mustad 9671 sz4-sz12
    Bead- 5/32 gold tungsten
    Weight- .015 lead free wire
    Tail- Black marabou plume
    Rib- Small chartreuse ultra wire
    Hackle-Black strung rooster saddle (whiting farms bugger pack)
    Body- Peacock hurl

    Very nice! I like that you wrap the lead forward without having concern of knocking down hackle. Looks great! If I might ask...what brand of vice are you using in this video?

    How do you get the bead into the hook. I tried and it wouldn’t make the turn

      Get a larger gauge bead, as long as the bead doesn’t slip over or cover the eye to much then it’s good to go
