That little disadvantage of not able to manage the task at an individual level using the Gantt Chart is to introduce the pre-mortem project scan. After creation of Gantt chart, a project manager should communicate with employees/stakeholders (individuals who are involve at every project stage). A pre-mortem analysis should carried out to get feedback and commentary from all involved.

Hi Amin. Let me help clear up the confusion. A project plan is a document the lays out all the task by all the stakeholders that have to be done to ensure the project reaches its deliverable. It’s usually created in a way that is convenient for the team members to focus on their specific items. The plan is an interactive document where team members go to update progress and communicate with the PM. A Gantt chart is a planning tool that helps with seeing how all the task relate. It compliments the plan and helps with decision making. Its main focus is time where a project plan focus is time,detail task Identification, communication and accountability/responsibility. Cheers!
My ex-boss was a fan of gantt charts, and even made us use TeamGantt tool. We ended up using both Jira and TeamGantt 😒 because it didn't work for Agile projects at all.
I am writing our Gantt chart for project proposal. Should I include everything in my Gantt chart or should I write the Gantt chart for project proposal alone
Hi Rea. I would need more information to really answer this for you, however, your project proposal should have as much information in it so you can sell it and proceed. Hope this helps. Cheers!
Gantt charts are cumbersome and do not account for unforseen events in a long project with many moving parts. No risk management can accurately account for the unknown barriers that will occur. Gantt charts create a false sense of security and many times unrealistic goals locking you and your team into these milestones setting the entire project up for failure. The only thing they are good for is collecting tasks at the beginning of a project. They need to be more flexible and evolve over the course of the project. Unfortunately too many people, typically high level managers, lock onto a projected completion date and blow up the group when that date is missed due to the unforseen. I have removed Gantt charts completely from any project management as they are now proven to be obsolete and an obstacle in the overall success of a project.
