    I've been thinking a C-style blade would de-lid the CPU safely. The top and left of the C butt up against the IHS, acting as a guide to stop the tool cutting too low or too deep, and the bottom of the C is the cutting blade. It would have to be custom made starting with a palette knife and bending/cutting it down to size.

    I've been watching a lot of these PS3 teardown/repair videos. And one thing I've noticed on these backward compatible models with the card readers is that some of the readers are mounted to the top cover and others are mounted in front of the PSU. Can anyone enlighten me into why that is? I've done some research and can't find any info. I have the CECHA01 model, so the only explanation I can think of is its region based, since I have the first gen NA model, and the CECHC03 in this video is the UK model. But I could have sworn I've seen the CECHA01 model with the reader mounted on top. 🤷‍♂️

    • @tony359
      @tony359  Год назад +1

      Yes, I think I noticed that too but did not pay too much attention. Are you sure that the same exact revision of PS3 can have different mountings? Thanks for watching!

    • @ninjasasquatch4840
      @ninjasasquatch4840 Год назад +1

      I'm not sure. I watched another video after my comment, and in the video, the guy doesn't show the model number, but he does say it's one of the CECHA models, and the reader is top mounted. So I'm lost. Not even sure why I care so much. LOL Thanks for sharing your experience. I enjoyed all 3 videos. T

    What is it about the PS3 that confounds so many people? Or rather what part of it doesn't? To this day people still struggle to understand its processing power, repair, and even emulation long after consoles before and after it were completely torn apart and understood.

      @@tony359 Just thinking about how popular the PS3 is to this day. Not 5 minutes before watching your repair I was on an image board and people were discussing the details of the PPE. Thank you! What version of PS3 is that? Did you check Syscon? I think it can be accessed if you ‘jailbreak’ it, so no soldering required 🙂
      I’m just wondering if the PSU is having an issue. If 12V fails, then it’s YLOD as Syscon uses 5V to work.

    • @tony359
      @tony359  Год назад

      Hi - that would hopefully just need the drive serviced (cleaned). Failing that, those can be replaced but the drive needs to be "married" to the board so it's not plug and play. I do not know where you could get that fixed, see if you can find some repair place where you live.

    Ciao, volevo farti una domanda.. Ho un ps3 fat cechc04. Il problema e che la ps3 si spegne da sola quando utilizzo solo alcuni giochi come: "La Noire , Infamous 2 ecc.." i quali hanno una grafica migliore.
    All'accensione invece della console, bisogna fare diversi tentativi perché si spegne dopo pochi secondi dall'accesnsione eseguita. Ho cambiato la pasta termica, ho sostituito l'alimentatore e anche l'hdd, ma non è cambiato niente. Sai dirmi da cosa dipende questo problema?

    • @tony359

      Ciao - un altro utente ha un problema simile e Syscon dice che è il chip hdmi 🤷‍♂️. Ti consiglio di controllare il log di Syscon, puoi anche farlo senza saldare niente. Solo in questo modo puoi avere un’idea ma sembrerebbe essere l’RSX purtroppo. Potrebbero essere anche i Tokin ma recenti sviluppi sembrano averli scagionati dalla maggior parte dei guasti.
