    • @mrkiplingman

      Yes it does there only one reason you would want a 65nm rsx is if you care about using the other os feature as when using the 40nm rsx you can only downgrade so far with the firmware which won't allow you to use the feature.

    Would it be worth doing this on a TOOL? Would it even still be compatible with the DEX firmwares?
    And do you know any file recovery tool for the PS3's file system? Since i got my devkit i haven't installed anything so i wouldn't overwrite any blocks, because it was factory resetted before i got it. It was used like a regular PS3 by the previous owner, which had a developer brother who gifted him the console. The console ever saw one single game, which was PES, never installed on the HDD, only disc, so the only file ever written on the PS3 after the initial reset was the savefile for PES.
    I'd really be interested in recovering every possible file from that PS3.

    • @ConsoleKingRepair
      @ConsoleKingRepair  7 месяцев назад +1

      @@myrmeko it’s a good question, we can, and have done Frankie’s on dev units. As for the recovery process of files used with the ps3, that’s more tricky. I’m not the person to ask, but as far as I know, it could be recovered on pc perhaps? I would honestly set it to the side and wait for some kind of file copy firmware to release. Even though that’s far fetched from my current understanding.

    • @lookitskazzy
      @lookitskazzy 6 месяцев назад +1

      The flaw is on the RSX itself. Heat has nothing to do with it really, it’s due to a manufacturing flaw that causes the die to delaminate over repeated thermal cycling. The 65/40nm RSXes don’t have this issue.
      Moving the PSU would have absolutely no impact on longevity of the 90nm RSXes.

It would save you time and hassle and make alignment consistent.

      The CELL itself is actually very reliable, only in rare cases you would need to replace it. This and its VERY labor intensive. I should do a video replacing CELL, and show the arduous process.

    my ps3 is running loud, it's a mid 2008 date code and i'm not sure if it's 90 or 65nm
    it's fully sealed and has the original thermal paste, it was running really loud in hot weather but runs normal when it's not as hot outside, and i also noticed that the air coming out of it isn't very warm at all
    does the thermal paste need replaced or is this normal for a fat ps3? i don't want to open it but i also don't want it to fail on me

      We can do that for you, if you’ve tried resetting video, and tried safe mode and it still isn’t displaying, I would say it’s most likely the RSX. Be sure to check the AV port as well, sometimes HDMI display breaks for multiple reasons.

      everything...
      you're making an electronics video bro, you should be as explicit about the process as possible.
      what is the frankie?
      the memory chips you replace?
      the cpu?
      the resistors you replaced?
      all you're doing is sawing more doubt on the processes than a solution.
      from our point of view you did voodoo magic in 3 steps and turn the ps3 back on again.
      if this prosses was still relevant i would have google what a frankie was instead of rewatching your vid, but again, if a i see ps3 is just leave it in the good will bin where i usually find them, don't really care.
      but some of us watch electronicporn for the heck of it.
      good video tho, the quality is great, if you make them better you'll gain more viewership

    • @Johnny_LuvBuckets

      Just because it's not relevant to you doesn't mean it is for everyone. There's 8 billion more people on the planet besides you. You could enjoy the entire PlayStation library with just a PS5 and a launch model ps3.

    I got a question about 4 years ago I bought a “Brand new 60gb” ps3, and I’m worried about this specific reason. Do you think it would be a good idea to change the rsx from 90 to 40 right away to prevent this! I don’t want my ps3 to go bad, I’m a person that really really really takes good care of my stuff.

    • @ConsoleKingRepair
