Add a glass of Merlot on your balcony in a hammock. That's how I used to listen to her. Check out my Canadian soulful sister Diana Krall. You'll fall in love with her sound as well. These women were, and are still, two of my all time favorite artists. Canadian Grandma. Lori. C.
Ravi also was good friends with Beatle George Harrison, teaching him to play the sitar and later convincing him to organize the first major rock charity event, the Concert For Bangla-Desh in 1971
She is one of the best. Agree! Very special. She is my go to chill music always. Still going strong too! Her channel is awesome. I suggest Turn Me On next! Thanks for all you do 💓
Please check out Duffy. She is similar to Amy Winehouse and Norah Jones. Her most famous song is Mercy, a fast fun song, but the entire Rockferry album is amazing. Songs like Warwick Avenue, Stepping Stone, and my personal fav is Syrup & Honey 🍯 💕
After a total nightmare day at work one of Nora’s albums playing in the background as you drive home just puts things back into balance and is a definite smile repairing voice.
Jay & Amber you’ll love Rickie Lee Jones’ “Danny’s All Star Joint”!!! Cool bass intro for Jay, cool vocals/lyrics, and swingin’ horn jam the last minute for Amber!!!! Then her “Chuck E’s In Love”
From the very beginning Norah Jones has been my Smokey Sunrise. I can't express how much this woman has affected my ears. She is sunshine on a cloudy day and smooth on a rough day. Canadian Grandma Lori. C.
Norah Jones was in a band called Puss 'n Boots with Catherine Popper & Sasha Dobson. They released a country-rock album which featured a cover of Neil Young's "Down By The River".
Siouxsie and the Banshee for Female Friday! They did a cover of the Beatles song Dear Prudence. Queen of post-pynk/ goth (a genre which you've not done). Fashion forward diva! Peek-a-boo Fear Kiss Them for Me Spellbound Cities in Dust The Passenger (iggy pop cover)
One day you guys will hit some of the most soulful female artist ever like Phyllis Hyman(Living All Alone), Jennifer Holiday (And I'm Telling You), Betty Wright (No Pain No Gain), Sylvia (Pillow Talk), Lisa Fisher (How Can I Ease the Pain), Angela Winbush (Angel) Stephanie Mills (I Feel Good All Over)
Norah Jones often provides the soundtrack of my lazy Sunday mornings when I sit by the window drinking coffee & my laid-back summer evenings on my front porch, drinking sangria. I don't think she's ever sang a song I didn't absolutely LOVE!
Norah is such a vibe , I have a bunch of her music on my backyard play list. Kicking back with my stogie and a glass of port and her music is just a great match
She is quite masterful at Standards. "The Nearness of you" is one of my favourites. And her vocal performance in "Turn me on" is incredible, if you haven't already, check out the "Allaire" version you can find on the anniversary box set edition. In some ways it may even be better.
Great choice: Other suggestions - Vanessa Williams "running back to you" "love is" "right stuff" Dionne Farris "I know" Lisa Lisa "wonder if i take you home" "all cried out" Klymax "men all pause" "meeting in ladies room" Deon Estus "Heaven Help Me" The Good girls "your sweetness" And Karyn White
You know she's still around, still making great music, still one of the best voices around, and still pretty dang beautiful. Try out a more twisted side of Norah Jones with "Miriam", or a bit of a different sound with "Chasing Pirates". Honestly, you just can't go wrong. Love that you two appreciated her music so much. I agree. Also, watch the metal band Pantera performing "Domination" live from Moscow. A person can appreciate all kinds of music. I promise. You are doing great on your journey thus far. Keep having fun.
You get a sense of Bonnie Raitt in her voice/style here. Interesting because they did a blues rendition of Tennessee Waltz together years back. Outstanding...so smooth and edgy.
I see you guys love female rockers for female Friday. One you have got to hear is Doro - Band is Warlock. An 80s rock band in the style of rockers like Lits Ford, Loraine Lewis (Femme Fatale), and Vixen. Incredible voice. She also has music out as a solo artist. The song to start with is (All we Are)
Norah Jones is definitely a favorite of mine. I like listening to her in the autumn - put on a playlist of her, Rachel Yamagata, Michelle Featherstone, Brandi Carlile, and several others, and sit back with some red wine and lit candles. There are so many Norah Jones songs to check out, but two that come to mind is Rosie's Lullaby, and her cover of Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow. A few songs by other artists you should check out with the same kinda vibe are Erin McCarley - Pitter-Pat, Dum Dum Girls - Coming Down, Lissie - Everywhere I Go, Missy Higgins - Where I Stood. I could list so many others
True story: I was on a trip through Colorado in 2003, and stopped by Red Rocks Amphitheater one morning. Norah Jones was playing Red Rocks that night, and I saw the her bus parked in the back stage area. I was in the gift shop nearby, getting coffee, and this young woman walks in and stands in line. It's Norah. I tell the cashier that I'm buying her order. A couple minutes later, I walk to the back deck of the shop and she's there. We both look out at the landscape behind. I say "Beautiful morning", she thanks me for the tea she ordered, we exchange a few words about the tour, say goodbye, and go on our separate ways. And that's the time I had coffee with Norah Jones.
Another very powerful Norah Jones song is "American Anthem", the Main Theme to filmmaker Ken Burns miniseries "The War". It's a tribute to "The Greatest Generation".
Norah Jones started playing bars in New York with a great band and got "discovered." Super-stardom; she plays with the greats. The band in this video is that 1st New York bar band and they still record with her. Super talented AND super nice!
Norah Jones has a couple dark themed songs, still sung in her sweet sultry voice but a little dark none the less. They seem to go together, "Happy Pills" and "Miriam". should listen to both in that order. Dark but brilliant.
Her music is so timeless to me. One of my favorite artists from my 20s. And she’s just stunning. She doesn’t age, still looks the same now as she did back then
You guys should check out, Norah Jones and her sister anousha shankar,,,two songs,,the sun won't set And traces of you,,,the combination of Norah's sweet voice and the exquisite playing of the sitar by anousha ,with Indian percussion,,will take you away to a place you have never been,,but I guarantee you will both love these 2 sisters ❤❤❤❤ damo from Melbourne Australia
She has a great duet with the Foo Fighters called "Virginia Moon", which is more of a bossanova than anything the Foo Fighters have even put out. And also a duet with Dolly Parton called "Creepin In".
Did you know that Norah Jones starred in a movie called “My Blueberry Nights”? Her costars were Natalie Portman, Jude Law, and Rachel Weiss…, but Norah was actually the leading lady… It’s a really cute, sweet movie.
Not too familiar with Her. But you're Right J! Very Wonderful Voice! :) Great Choice 'Phenomenal' Amber! :) PS- J- Don't want to be a 'Downer', but one of my cousins 'smoked' cigars much of his life, and now has Stage 4 Lung Cancer. I don't think he inhaled much, but just the smell was apparently too much over his life. He's around 66 or so. Want to see You & Amber here, at least until I Pass On! :)
Alright kiddos... I definitely need to comment, I've been a pretty hard core Norah fan since before her 1st Grammy Award. I think I loved everything about her style from the very first bar of "Don't Know Why", and I saw her live in Calgary Alberta in Canada on the very first tour. But one thing I will say, this is still definitely my very favorite Norah Jones song ("After The Fall" especially the live album version is my 2nd). Cheers, and a very Happy Halloween to the both of you!
My favorite bands include Kings of Leon, The Cars, Tool, Nine Inch Nails, Rush, Alice In Chains, etc. I love rap including Aesop Rock, Eminem, Ren, etc… I dig Zeppelin, Bob Dylan, Ray LaMontagne, Amos Lee…. Basically I have a very wide range in musical tastes. At the end of the day, however, my “desert island” choice is Norah. Hands down. Her catalog actually bridges genres from country to jazz to rock and others, but that voice….. My favorite songs of hers include “One Flight Down”, “Turn Me On”, “Shoot the Moon”, and “Toes”. Ultimately, you can just put her entire catalog on random and just relax your soul.
“In The Morning” is a lyrical and musical masterpiece. One of her very best vocal performances. Have the lyrics at hand to fully appreciate it. “Rosie’s Lullaby” is a study in how to play with time and intensity to create emotion.
New artists for Female Friday: 1. "Ange!" by Angela Winbush (pronounced Ahn-juh-luh) 2. "Baby Come to Me" by Regina Belle 3. "Secret Rendezvous" by Karyn White 4. "Congratulations" by Vesta Williams 5. "No More Lies" by Michel'le (pronounced Mee-shell-lay) 6. "I Feel Good All Over" by Stephanie Mills
I can come home from a hard, hot and stressful day, peel off my uniform and armor, hit a cool shower with a cold beer and Norah's music, and feel eveerything melting away.
Nora is so soulful and jazzy! She has such a golden voice! Yay Jay!❤❤
-#cheers-- !-
Norah’s voice is just like a cool summer breeze on a hot day ❤
kinder and gentler.
Add a glass of Merlot on your balcony in a hammock. That's how I used to listen to her. Check out my Canadian soulful sister Diana Krall. You'll fall in love with her sound as well. These women were, and are still, two of my all time favorite artists. Canadian Grandma. Lori. C.
Did you know Norah is the daughter of classical Indian music maestro Ravi Shankar? Musical genius in that fam.
Her half-sister from the same father is an accomplished musician, composer and producer...
@MacDaddyRico and they have recorded albums together,,worth checking out the 2 sisters are amazing
Ravi also was good friends with Beatle George Harrison, teaching him to play the sitar and later convincing him to organize the first major rock charity event, the Concert For Bangla-Desh in 1971
Her half sister is Anushka Shankar, an accomplished sitar player.
and i have the same birthday as ravi shankar
One of those artists who could sing the phone book and it would be epic.
I love Norah singing this song. It’s so soulful.
Her voice is as smooth and soft as melted Velveeta, with just a hint of smoky flavor added to it. incredibly habit forming, and comforting!
-xD !-
What a fabulous description!!! Who could argue with that 🥰 Norah has such a fabulous voice and such a brilliant bluesy song - beautiful lyrics too.
-#cheers-- !-

From the very beginning Norah Jones has been my Smokey Sunrise. I can't express how much this woman has affected my ears. She is sunshine on a cloudy day and smooth on a rough day. Canadian Grandma Lori. C.
A generation was conceived to Norah.
Oooh, that one is very bluesy, isn’t it. Great song! Thanks guys!
You should try the Cowboy Junkies and their song Misguided Angel. The female lead singer has a very similar soulful sound to Norah. I love them both.
Norah Jones was in a band called Puss 'n Boots with Catherine Popper & Sasha Dobson. They released a country-rock album which featured a cover of Neil Young's "Down By The River".

The instruments are just as laid back and bluesy as her voice.
Smooth, sultry, slow and soft vocals❤
Would love y'all to react to I've Got To See You Again!! So mysterious and soulful!! Love Nora Jones ❤
It’s like a smoky voice…. Original ❤❤
Wow, what an amazing voice. Suits the music style
More James Taylor please, love Norah too.

Norah is such a vibe , I have a bunch of her music on my backyard play list. Kicking back with my stogie and a glass of port and her music is just a great match
Man, Norah’s like a shot of smoky, well aged whisky.
Her late father Ravi Shankar was a famous musician from India. He was a great Sitar player! You should check out that insturment!
Next, listen to her "The Nearness of You" and "Turn Me On", both are AMAZING!!!!!
She is quite masterful at Standards. "The Nearness of you" is one of my favourites. And her vocal performance in "Turn me on" is incredible, if you haven't already, check out the "Allaire" version you can find on the anniversary box set edition. In some ways it may even be better.

Ed their version of Tennessee Walz!
My first time hearing her. Love the voice. The song? So so.
Guys check out Stand Tall (1976) by Burton Cummings. The singer from The Guess Who really belts this one out.
The song to start with is (All we Are)
I can honestly say that I love every single song she has ever made. She's just that good in my opinion.
Her music is what I put on for a weekend morning and have nothing to rush me just sip some
Coffee and relax…
Norah Jones is definitely a favorite of mine. I like listening to her in the autumn - put on a playlist of her, Rachel Yamagata, Michelle Featherstone, Brandi Carlile, and several others, and sit back with some red wine and lit candles.

Can't go wrong with Nora, her sister, or her father. They're all great talents in their own rights.
Probably check out "Those Sweet Words" next, one of her biggest hits. I love Norah's voice, so unique!
Just amazing and soulful
Love it

Whenever Jay says he doesn't like slow songs, I chuckle because he loves Norah Jones, who sings all slow songs.
Dog and the Butterfly!!! Do it it will make you smile.
"Humble Me" has got to be one of the most beautiful songs ever. Absolutely love Norah Jones.
Another very powerful Norah Jones song is "American Anthem", the Main Theme to filmmaker Ken Burns miniseries
"The War". It's a tribute to "The Greatest Generation".
Norah Jones started playing bars in New York with a great band and got "discovered." Super-stardom; she plays with the greats. The band in this video is that 1st New York bar band and they still record with her. Super talented AND super nice!
Norah Jones/Tony Bennet duet: Speak Low
Love you guys and Norah too! Made me smile!
Norah Jones has a couple dark themed songs, still sung in her sweet sultry voice but a little dark none the less. They seem to go together, "Happy Pills" and "Miriam". should listen to both in that order. Dark but brilliant.

As most men my age are, I'm a Norah Jones fan. But, I haven't heard this song before. Thank you for introducing it to me as well! 🎹🎶🎙🤍😌
oh yeah, big time good!!
Nora is a breath of fresh air, just amazing. You now should check out Macy Gray, she has a voice that would remind you of Nora.
You guys should check out, Norah Jones and her sister anousha shankar,,,two songs,,the sun won't set

"Nightingale" might be my favorite Nora Jones song, besides "Don't Know Why".
I Love Norah Jones~you Norah Jones got some Bonnie Raitt in her tone and delivery!!! Love her!
Alright kiddos... I definitely need to comment, I've been a pretty hard core Norah fan since before her 1st Grammy Award. Cheers, and a very Happy Halloween to the both of you!
FYI-Norah has a duet with Willie Nelson. Actually, she has a lot of duets. It would be a cool rabbit hole.
Such a cool and smooth voice, great late night music-Colin Ward.
She could sing a restaurant menu and it would be lovely
This is probably my favourite song of Norah's - more bluesy than usual for her, which I really love...
Another singer to checkout is Madeleine Peyroux The Way You Look Tonite….Walking after Midnight…
Bonnie Raitt, Jack Johnson, John Mayer and Nora Jones....relaxing porch sipping music❤❤❤❤
My favorite bands include Kings of Leon, The Cars, Tool, Nine Inch Nails, Rush, Alice In Chains, etc. I love rap including Aesop Rock, Eminem, Ren, etc… I dig Zeppelin, Bob Dylan, Ray LaMontagne, Amos Lee…. I agree J, Norah is in a league by herself.
If yo'u love Norah's voice, which I do, you have to love Angelina Jordan's voice. She has a new song" Love Don't Let Me Go".
Another bluesy/jazz artist is Fiona Apple. Think you would enjoy Shadowboxer, but she has a lot of great music.
Nora Jones is the bomb
“In The Morning” is a lyrical and musical masterpiece. One of her very best vocal performances. Have the lyrics at hand to fully appreciate it.
“Rosie’s Lullaby” is a study in how to play with time and intensity to create emotion.
Norah is a babe with a great voice, there is a great voice & guitarist not far from you in Texas. Jackie Venson is an amazing lady with blues & soul.
New artists for Female Friday:

Female Friday suggestion - "Royals" by Lorde. Some of her other songs are - "Tennis Court, Yellow Flicker Beat, Green Light, Team".
Wings Live and Let Die theme for a Bond movie
She sings The Tennessee Waltz better than I've ever heard it covered by anyone.
Sinkin Soon should be next for sure but there are many great songs from Norah. Sinkin Soon has the best talking trumpet, a must hear for sure.
One of these Female Fridays you need to do Gogi Grant's THE WAYWARD WIND a #1 hit in 1956.
Daughter of George Harrison’s sitar guru Ravi Shankar.
Look for her recordings with her sister Anoushka Shankar…Traces of You is the album, if memory serves….
I can come home from a hard, hot and stressful day, peel off my uniform and armor, hit a cool shower with a cold beer and Norah's music, and feel eveerything melting away.
