    To be fair I wouldn’t even consider Zombie vs Volk a mismatch as much as it’s just Volk being on a whole different level than most or all of that division. Zombie earned the shot and he’s been a top contender for a long time, and he can still contend well with probably everyone else in the division besides Volk. Volky just made it look like a mismatch, that’s how good he is

      Real questionnable af mismatches that I hate is when a fighter says he it will be his last fight and they give him an unknown serial killer like they did with Frankie Edgar. I mean make sure a legend's last fight is at least competitive.

      @@lodxmas I mean I wouldn’t consider Chris Gutierrez unknown at all, he’s had some great performances in the UFC already, but I see what you’re saying. Yeah I didn’t like that match up for Frankie’s last fight, I was pretty confident he’d probably get beat up and possibly KO’d especially considering how fragile his chin has been lately. Definitely a shitty way to see him go out. They gave Nate Diaz a good match up via Tony Ferguson for his last fight, but a lot of others they feed to murderers like they did with Frankie. But hey, he was a ranked contender in the division. If we’re being fair here, he needs to be able to competitively attempt to defend that spot against any unranked fighter. So fair play by all accounts. Just shitty to watch his soul be stolen like that on his last go. Still a legend though!

      He was actually sick at the time, recovering from food poisoning apparently. He didn't talk about it at the time because he didn't want to make excuses. I honestly don't think that was really such a bad mis-match based on the history of each fighter. Cerrone was also a notoriously slow starter though, and that's definitely not good against McGregor.

      Cerrone always choked for the big fights, dunno if it was just mental or bad matchups but every time he was in a fight that was gonna get him to that Elite title level he folded. Sad because the dude is a beast.

Cerrone was a journeyman on his way out, having been TKOed in his last two fights, was almost 37 at the time, and had been through near 80 pro MMA/Kickboxing/boxing matches in his career at that point. The UFC, knowing cerrone was a fan favourite, fed him to Conor for his big return, knowing it would be a relatively easy win over a big name for Conor.

    The Chael vs Jones fight is very intriguing if you consider that if Chael could survive for 20 seconds more he would probably win via Doctor Stoppage and become LHW Champion since Jones broke is toe in a very nasty way.

    People act like Conor vs Cowboy was such a mismatch, if you rewatch the fight cowboy literally just got blitzed so fast, from the beginning he was rocked, McGregor broke his face with his damn shoulder. Cowboy had a few wins the year before, he beat Mike Perry and I believe Alexander Hernandez in 2019

    Conor was gifted a very safe W with Cerrone because Cowboy is very slow starter and he always had big issues with pressure fighters, so Conor was basically his nightmare embodied. The UFC and Conor tried to sell to us that he and Cowboy had a "history" together and this needed to be settled.
    I mean Conor had history with everybody on that press conference but you didn't see him square off against RDA; lol. He could have fought Gaethje but he dodged a bullet with that one. Smart move as a comeback to fight somebody who was on a huge decline.
