Yes, it has to do with physics and static strength of materials. Torque (the sideways pressure at the end of the toe, and the "moment of inertia" (from the point of pressure, to the base of the toe bone) was too much for the bone to handle. If you grab a pencil lightly with a vise (for a probably poor example) with the pencil sticking up 2 inches from the top of the vise jaw, and apply force to the upper end of the pencil, the moment of inertia will be just above the vise jaw, and the pencil will break there.

1ceYourPimpHand Even though the fight was one sided, I think this was not a mismatch. Carla was the champion and had a decent record, and you know sometimes wrestlers are a nightmare for strikers. For me, seeing the total domination imposed by Joanna was a nice surprise.
What I want to say, is that a mismatch can be seen once the fight is scheduled, in the Case of Carla and Joanna, the "mismatch" was noticed after the fight.
We look at it as a mismatch now, but before they fought there was still a ton of people backing Esparza to win
