  • Shaving today with a vintage GEBR.WEYERSBERG SOLINGEN 6000 ELECTRIC CORNETA.
Beard prep is vital to getting the best shave out of your vintage razor. The softer the beard, the easier to cut. I always start with the traditional Barbers method of softening the beard with a hot flannel held on to your face for 20 seconds or so and repeat 3 times until your beard is soft. I then apply Olive Oil or Baby Oil and massage into the skin, leave for a couple of minutes to soak in to the skin then apply a good quality shave soap (Proraso for example). Do this and you are off to a flying start for a successful, comfortable shave.
Recommended is the Sandalwood shave soap from Taylors of Bond street London.

The razor i am using is this high quality vintage straight razor from GEBR.WEYERSBERG SOLINGEN 6000 ELECTRIC CORNETA.
Hand made during an era (around 1890) when excellence was standard, this razor stands out from the rest of the crowd with it's beautiful Gold wash and vintage Patina.
The razor responded very quickly to honing, an indication of very light use and was a joy to restore this razor to a shave ready condition and put it to the test by personally shave testing.
Any questions, please feel free to ask.

Probably the best intro to straight razors I've seen, nice work!

Well i hope you are inspired to try the traditional way of shaving. It's not as bad as people make out, just the name "cut throat razor" puts the fear into some guys. All razors will nick at some time or other, you just have to understand to stretch the skin with your free hand and keep the skin flat...very simple really. Thanks for your comments and let me know how you get on with your shave routine with straights. 😎
