  • Video 14. How to successfully shave with a straight razor.
These videos of mine are aimed at guys who are new to traditional shaving methods and who have been contemplating a straight razor for the first time.
Firstly the words "Cut throat" razor is enough to put any guys off using one, so i prefer to describe them as a "straight razor" or open razor.
Once you have started to understand the simple principles for you to adhere to, shaving with a straight will become less of a challenge.
Secondly, these days some professional Barbers are offering the "shave experience" of having the professional treatment and my advice is to go down to your local Barbers and see for yourself how it is done. This way you will begin to understand what to expect from your shave and the difference it makes to your shaving.
Thirdly, enjoy the video and some of my tips on how to successfully shave with a straight razor without any negatives.
The razor i am using in this video is a vintage French L Avallonais.
The shaving soap is a creamy Mitchells Wool Fat soap, widely available at a reasonable price on Ebay.
The shaving brush is a pure Badger hair from KENT brushes, size H8. Albeit expensive, but you only buy them once if you look after them.
Any questions/comments feel free to ask and enjoy your shaving in the traditional manner.

Ohhhh cheers P.L. I have actually started recently using extra Virgin Olive Oil all over after a hot and cold shower. Really wakes up and moisturises the skin and not just on the face.
