The A300-622R served with Thai Airways for 22 years in a lot of short to medium range regional service. Small wonder why it was retired and not sold to another airline.
I'm sooo glad you uploaded this video of HS-TAM in all its flying glory AND gave a few details of its subsequent sad demise (scrapped). Does anyone know why it was scrapped? Actually its not really scrapped as in _demolished/recycled_ type of scrapped. It's in bits and pieces of partly re-assembled fuselage and wings, sitting in a rural paddock a few kilometres outside of Chiang Mai. So far, no one really has any useful information about what/why/when this all came about. The most interesting theory is that someone planned to turn it into a coffee shop. *The Unseen Thailand Chiang Mai* You Tube Channel has recently uploaded some drone footage of it in the last day or so.
Great video, thanks for uploading this one and so many other! So I'm currently working on a video project and was wondering if you may grant me permission to use your videos that contain Kai Tak. If you do, that would help me so much. Please let me know what you think.
I love your vids Daniel, and we share our name - Have you by any chance flown the Varig MD11 or 747 (any variant) - I used to fly them alot as a kid back in the 90s out of CPH. You honestly deserve maaany more subs - I have alot of inflight footage that I plan to release next summer on a new yt channel I want to make with my wife as we travel alot, and if it gathers any interest, I will be sure to market this channel, I know alot of people would love this channel.
Nice Video! I was born after Kai Tak close so I never got the runway 13 approach. What do you think it'll be like if Kai Tak is still HK's main airport today?
It is 2024 and this video reminds me of the first time I visited Bangkok in 1993. That was the airport that was the color scheme. Nostalgic
Fascinating thanks. Kai tak was the most incredible airport. Also, i first flew Thai from LHR to Bangkok (Don Mueng) in 1992 and loved it then.
Starting around 32:24 shows what made Kai Tak so special. Thanks so much for sharing this video.
Miss those Donmuang airport days. Was packed with people and international airlines. Didn't know how they managed, but they did.
Still packed by LCCs.
