  • I received my MLX-3012 the other day, so I put together a video of what I got and a little explanation of why it's such a cool item to add to my 2018 Forty-Eight. I've always loved Dakota Digital products, so when I saw they had one for my bike, I had to have it.

In regards to miles until empty, did you install a separate sensor for that? I know my Iron 883 doesn’t come OE with a gas gauge.

The 2018 Forty-Eight has a fuel light when it gets low, so I think this works off of that, and you can program it based on that setting. I have installed it but haven't messed around with the miles to empty feature yet since the fuel light works like the original. I just know at that point I have about a half-gallon or a little more, so I just fill up.
I'm hoping to finish the install video soon, then I'll post it.

I have a 2015 FXSB Harley Breakout. I mostly wanted this gauge for the sift rpm settings. when I hit the rpm limit that I set, the rpm display
on the outside rim flashes but not in the message center as shown on their teaser video. I called support and they told me it might not be available on the MLX3012. That was the only reason I bought it. I could not find a shift light that I liked, so i thought I would upgrade the spedo. You would think they could tell you if their product could doit or not. All other warnings will flash in the message center.
Have you tried this setting and if so, does it flash in the message center?
    Thanks, Rocky

Sorry, didn't see your comment until just now. I'll see what I can come up with. One thing I thought wouldn't work was the low fuel light, but it seems to be working just fine. I haven't set up the "miles to empty" because I really don't need it. I don't do long trips over 100 miles on this bike anyway, and always fill up when I head out. I'll check out the shift light this weekend and see if it works.

My wife has a 2019 883 and I was wanting to get her one of these. My question is if the head temp function worked for your bike?

It works on mine (Anniversary model) and as you cycle through the functions it shows up, or you can set it to display the temp on the screen all the time. I'm finishing up my install video, will post it soon. Gotta get some day and night driving shots.

@@mascotgraphics thank you for the quick response, I emailed Dakota Digital and they couldn't give me a definite answer. With what you said, it should work with hers. Thank you

@@justinburke7797 I think many of the features are in the computer already, but depending on the gauge you have you may not be able to access those features. I don't think Cyl Head Temp is on my OE gauge, but the DD can read head temp.
