I’m seriously considering upgrading from the Canon C300 mark ii to the G2 and you’re one of the reasons. Gonna wait Spring out to see if they’re gonna release something but if not then this baby is gonna be mine! Thanks for the awesome content. And feel better dude
Great video Tyler! There was a few clips in here that made me literally say “wow” out loud. Can’t beat Blackmagic colors! Thanks for sharing your take on a great camera. And feel better bro!! 🙏
Don't want to sound like a broken record, but your reviews are always entertaining and the footage is always amazing, I have my notification on. If I lived nearby, I would just lend my R5 to you to see what could really come out of it lol
Hey great practical review 👍. The main thing with rolling shutter for me is that fast readout is you get much better warp stabilisation with fast readout. (But I'm a post stabilisation junkie). I'm wondering if these will start being affordable used. And bad luck with the covid, hope you feel better :)
I haven’t used post stabilization much but glad to hear it works good with the ursa. I imagine when the g3 comes out the g2 will be more affordable in the used market.
This is what I like about Blackmagic, ability to record to many different storage mediums. That and obviously BRAW. That said , iv been eyeing Canon side of things (C300 MKIII mmm).
@Tyler Edwards could you please elaborate on this , why did you chose the 4.6k G2 over the C300MKiii, ? Kind of in that space right now , I had preordered the 6K pro and than canceled it for different reasons, I want a body that has everything built in that I can just run and gun with for documentary work. Everyone is telling me to get the canon for the af and the lighter weight , but I feel like b-raw is worth not having AF .... can you please help me out . Need some advice here.
@@TylerEdwards Haha...thanks, man. I've been following you since your time with the Sony a6300 and I'm that guy who is still waiting for you to play that banjo you had on the background of previous videos. Anyways....this cam is sweet to the eye, but still I'm dreaming of the BMPCC6K. One day I will hold it in my hands. I have strong faith :)
@@TylerEdwards ideally that’s what I want to do. I’ve also been looking at the z8 to have a somewhat more “versatile” camera that can get me close now with the new luts. Any thoughts on that?
Hey Tyler, can this camera be paired with something besides the pocket 4k or 6k? I'm looking for a camera to live on a gimbal that does higher frame rates (like 120) at 4k. Would this be easy to match with an A7Siii?
Hi Tyler! Do you have any experience on how the G2 compares to the G1 imagewise? Ive got a 4K and 6K and wanna switch from the 4K to a G1, as the G2 is out of my budget yet, but I want all the benefits of things like internal nds, xlr Inputs etc. What’s your opinion on that?
No personal experience comparing side by side, but from what I understand, the G1 is still a very good camera. Garth has a great video about it though: ruclips.net/video/V1uMeJh-GJY/видео.html
Preamps are not as good as the C200 and it is much heavier but other than that I think the ursa has a better image and dynamic range. Oh, and obviously no autofocus which is a bummer for interviews sometimes haha.
It does not work. It is always grayed out. I think that was back in CDNG days where it would record every other frame in high framerate to each card to keep up with the data rates.
Bear with me on this one folks. I sound and look terrible (covid got me) but REALLY wanted to make this video lol
Really huffin n puffin on this one. I’m glad you’re okay tho. Rest brother
stay safe bud!
stay healthy. Praying for you
Get better Tyler.

I have 2 units of G2. Currently working on for my first feature film with the G2!
Nice!

Thanks brother!! Blackmagic colors are really good!! Thanks for dropping in. Appreciate you man!

Haha thanks so much! I may rent an R5 to see what the fuss is all about one of these days. Thanks for the support, I really appreciate it!
Black Magic menu system is phenomenal
It really is!
Nice video. I’m a newer Blackmagic owner (bmpcc4k) and really enjoy it. Definitely see upgrading to the Ursa Mini at some point.
The pocket cameras are incredible little tools. When you upgrade to the ursa, you’ll feel right at home too.
Nice video Tyler! Love the G2. Looking forward to a smaller version of this camera soon. Something between the p6k and ug2. That’d be sweet.
Thanks man! Ya, that would be so awesome! Maybe 2021 will be good to us :)
@@TylerEdwards maybe 2023😃

Almost got the C300iii. It looks like an amazing tool!

Overlanding footage looks great!
i love tyler, he said you lo ok cool with a Big Camera lol
Dope video man! I kinda want an Ursa Mini right now 🤣 Beautiful footage!
Haha it’s a sweet camera. Trade ya for your Leica set 🤣🤪
Man that sucks that the media slots are kinda exposed when the monitor is flipped open. Just kinda…hangin out there.
Red raw is also compressed....
Hey, friend.
Mario Castillion here (follower on Instagram).
Great video, but I pray you get well soon, brother.
🙏🏾
Mario, thanks for commenting and connecting! I’ve seen you around before it’s cool to put a face to the name so to speak.

Would you say this is a good move to pair with a Komodo today or still think the FF is the move? Thanks!
I’d just get another komodo if you’re looking for a bcam.

Are there any cameras with the same camera quality at a cheaper price
Are you selling an easyrig?
Lemme know if you’re selling yours
You should try Juan malera s arri power grades. Much better than buttery luts. I use ump g2 as well
Never heard of it. Does it support gen5 color?
Bro where did you get your hat?
Some random shop in Colorado but they closed :(

I'm not sure on the A7Siii. I am sure it could be matched no problem, but I haven't shot with them together, so I can't say for sure.

Thoughts on how the Ursa G2 is a better choice over the pocket 6k Pro?
I don't think it is either a better or worse choice than the 6K Pro. It all depends on the needs of the filmmaker.
More dynamic range....
how would you compare it to the c200?
Preamps are not as good as the C200 and it is much heavier but other than that I think the ursa has a better image and dynamic range. Oh, and obviously no autofocus which is a bummer for interviews sometimes haha.
10:10 Menu seems to suggest that you can dual record as shared by ruclips.net/video/CQ9A1dDUgAg/видео.html. Is this not the case?
It does not work. It is always grayed out. I think that was back in CDNG days where it would record every other frame in high framerate to each card to keep up with the data rates.
lol "buttery luts the best luts" joking right
At the time, they were. I don’t know what LUTs are out there now. This video is 3 yrs old now lol
