Charleston was really beautiful - hope you enjoyed it. Most people are delusional and self-sabotaging, so when you present the value that you have to offer them, you have to do so in an intelligent way. That means "meeting them where they are at. Let me know how you've handled this, and what you learned. -Tyler

I was by myself for a really long time - i lived in copenhagen and was really depressed then i came across your stuff and i wanted better days for myself. i started reading, going for long ass walks, taking vitamins(ultramind solution by mark hyman) then i came across from one of your talks that concluded with something along the lines of "you may not be the most high-status person, you may not be the center of the party, but you just want the vibe to be good. In any social situation, you ask yourself how would I want others to feel around me. What energy can I put out to heighten the vibe." It forever changed how I viewed social interaction, it ended this pity party in me to stop feeling sorry for myself, just looking for people to be nice to me because im "being me." The other day I was walking through shopping mall and I saw a girl turning the heads of every guy and guy friend groups. Right before I walked up to her, I looked up at all the bright christmas lights that the mall had put up, I looked at the smiling children. I took a few deep breaths and was just grateful for the moment I was in. I felt this warm buzzing circulating through my body like when you listen to a really uplifting song. Within thirty seconds of me introducing myself to her (I tongue in cheek asked her if she agreed that Toronto is a socially closed off city that is hard to meet new people) she turned to me and asked if I wanted to find somewhere to sit down and talk. We ended up having a 4 hour conversation that felt like this weird beautiful energy vacuum that lasted maybe 10 minutes to me. It was just so easy, it was like the less I "did" the more she wanted to dive into me. It was like just two humanoid dorks enjoying each others company. At the end she asked for my instagram and number. I came across you since 2012. Seven years later, my past three amazing girlfriends and friends have been a result of walking up to them blank slate in public settings. You taught me the ultimate core power one can discover of drawing state from within yourself in synergistic combination with having understanding of other peoples' reality. I write this post to express my gratitude that you exist and to also say that I feel you are on an entirely new level right now. Nothing but love, internetvitamins.

I can’t believe you made this video for free. If people were smart, they would take notes on this and play it through a couple times. I’ve seen almost all your videos, and to me, this is the peak of all your free works. I’ve gotten more out of this than a lot of the books I’ve read.
I self sabatoge by listening to disempowering emo rap music. And also I have often gave people everything during social interactions and chased validation to hard. I like to give people a lot of information rather than make it a fun game. I give opinions and knowledge when it is unsolicited.

It's my biggest sticking point as well bro. It means you're a good person who likes to offer value. Dad lol! Thanks for breaking this down into segments! I finally get it! I used to be like huh? What's the next step? But when you do it like this in these segments I see that I already have most of this shit. I just had to compartmentalize everything and have a structure for it. My brain needs structure or it just shuts down. I love how you have spread these topics out over several videos. They get more and more epic every time! These self help vids are wayyyy better than the pick up vids. Those were fuckin EPIC as well and I'm so glad I caught the last era of true hard core pimpin but THIS SHIT is a gift from God! İt is like more about WAKING UP, I guess. Also want to add that for me it is like a "gaming" a person in good way, taking them by the hand and helping to see the beauty of yourself and the world around them. THANKS A LOT,OWEN. This one is very useful for me. It’s been a disappointing pattern for me that people seem to assume that I’m someone not worth paying attention to, listening to, or investing any energy into interacting with. In fact I have a lot of education, I’ve done all kinds of things, I’ve been to many places, and I can speak meaningfully about quite a few subjects. People seem to assume I’m just a simple, ignorant, boring guy who has no value to them. I try to talk to people about things that are relevant or interesting, and they just don’t care.
It’s been getting worse. It feels as if I’m turning into a ghost, just becoming irrelevant to all humans other than myself.
It seems regrettable that people assume this way about people whom they don’t know, instead of either assuming better of people or just being interested and respectful.
The lesson that my experiences seem to be giving me is: leave people alone, they don’t care.
I’ll be thinking about what I can do to express myself better to others, to overcome this misperception.

    • @SoshulCom
      @SoshulCom Год назад

I’ve identified this problem as a pattern recognition issue.
Lots of people’s social issues boil down to confusion of what to say, how to say it because there’s so much advice out there but no context.
If we start at the very base and learn the fundamentals , we may have a chance.
Recognize the patterns for yourself and become a social master.
      Hope it helps

Cognitive biases (e.g. the halo effect) are impending one's logical reasoning, leading one's decision process through a foggy path of confusion. Whoever holds the lead can guide one to a better or worse place, depending on the leader's predisposition.
I applaud exploiting cognitive biases as a means to reach Truth (since our community is far from it), but let's not forget it's an exploit of our inate mechanical faults.

29:25 The "immediately obvious" abs/good looks remark is spot-on. Because the original research on the Halo Effect actually focused on the influence of good looks on your perception of other non-visible qualities (kindness, humor, honesty etc...). Really cool vid. Reminded me of how important it is to stay on top of your game and it made me view my recent painful breakup through a different lens (aka I clearly lost my halo effect towards the end of the relationship = she couldn't see my other positive qualities anymore). Thanks a lot man

Alright Owen... you finally sold me on the social media aspect here. I always tended to pull away every time you mention curating a social media profile. I’ve basically been boycotting social media as much as possible. Haven’t made a post on anything in over 5 years. Didn’t plan on changing that.
But I guess when I view it through the lens of meeting people where they’re at in their life, in their journeys, that makes sense. I don’t have to be a big fan of social media to use it to my advantage. Most people are on there and like using it and it’s basically free marketing for myself. This was really the only topic in your vids that I’ve been struggling with. I had a big mental BLOCK right there. But this helped me have a breakthrough! Thanks again for everything you do, Owen! Thank you Owen! Out of all the videos on the subjuct of the importance of value you put out lately, this one really hit the spot for me!
My greatest holdback that I have no wish of letting go of is the moral prespective on things and the true(to my heart's desire) wish to act authenticly.
in the past few years you helped me alot with integrating healthy behaviours into my life, and as time goes by your materials does that more and more effectively! You are a true insperation.
On a personal note, I was exposed to the pick up industry long time ago(today I'm 35) and it created a huge conflict and disconnection from my fellow human beings. It also gave me amazing tools and options. Most of all it put me on a path of self development, and for that I'm super grateful.
Nevertheless, the conflicts created by using techniques and the judgement of other people as "responding to technique" and not to "truth", created huge resistance within me that I completely stopped with consuming PU material, and slowly started getting into classic self help.
In classic self help I also felt something was missing, a thing that I found in RSD in the past few years and especially the last two.
Thank you, you truly created something magnificent.

Thank you man! And remember, it's always a balance between "authenticity VS relatability" -- you've got to be authentic, but still relate to the person's state of consciousness (which TBH may be limited and respond more to being stimulus-seeking and validation-seeking). Be authentic and yourself, but be aware that you have to RELATE. -Tyler

    • @צחידהן-ק6ו

      @@OwenCookSelfHelp It's a huge challange for me.
Used to be one because I felt Relating to someone's state of consciousness was a form of judging them.
Today I'm aware you can just be present to the reality of sensing others, "feeling" Somone without moral judgement.
The hard part for me is to let go of that judgement and the contempt for certain qualitys, and this video also gave me some nice insight into dealing with that.

Tyler, i feel like the only problem with these inspirational videos, is that you present us a problem and how its devastating our social life but offer no solution in the videos. Like how exactly do we become present? How do we self amuse when we go out and how do we get out of our heads. So many problems you show us but I don’t know how to change

  • @increase8849

Tyler, something I've noticed about RSD is that it is often assumed that the viewer is low value. I know that these videos are very thought out but I cant help but think that this might not be the best model. By no means am I perfect, but I have spent loads of time working on myself and while I wasn't before, now I am present, I am calibrated and self aware. It feels a bit alienating and degrading when it is assumed that we're low value. Obviously we love your content. I really appreciate it. See you soon.

This was great, Owen, thank you for providing this premium content. There's a video online somewhere that talks about "venue theory", where a world class violinist, who normally performs at Carnegie Hall, was playing in Grand Central Station for free. Of course, no one stopped to listen to the amazing music she was playing because she was just a violinist playing for free in Grand Central Station. I love how you teach us to apply these concepts to our own lives, our relationships, and our social interactions with others. Bravo! :)

I understand this video as losing the ego and becoming enlightened but still chosing on terms of others. Thats brilliant man its actually exactly where iam at. After duality theres still choice and taking action. And this is an example of how to act. Bring fun to people and meet them where they are at. One thing though. Have you also made a video about the other side of this coin? Because when you meet people where they are at ( lower your vibration to meet them on their level) you basically have nothing to give them anymore. We are supposed to be as high as possible and be ourselves period. Thats the most valuable thing radiating out high vibrations. The right people will come ro resonate with it. I get your point. Just consider this. And also look. You wouldnt make a video about pua anymore becausenit doesnt resonate with your being anymore right. But many people might be there. But your true self doesnt care. So we will naturally gravitate to putting out our highest vibration. Actually farting in peoples faces might be working quite good narcississts are fuckin popular these days so... Maybe theres still mind which is in fear of being alone. We are headed into a beautiful future tyler. These topics are amazing. Thank you you are brilliant. Big things to come in 2020

I’ve been watching Owen for probably >10 years now and he’s right on the money with every word he speaks. If I had the big money I would be his client in a second but since I’m so screwed up it would take him years of hands on training to reprogram me and that’s with me never doing any drugs or drinking. He would differently be entitled to the noble peace prize if he could. I wonder sometimes If Owen was still sitting on a crate box teaching pick up today how hard would it be for Tony Robbins to fix him. He probably couldn’t because he would be too far gone down the rabbit hole or just maybe it was one small thing holding him back but he was completely unaware of it. I think for Owen it was something in his past that gave him the mental strength to accomplish what he has done with his life today and still drives him along his path along with ADHD maybe some Asperger's or a little Savant he’s no mere mortal. i can promise you this much, you can watch his videos as long as you want and your life is never going to change on any level until you get the experience and live that type of life style he’s living or you envision and unless you can see some success some type of results to push you forward to the next level or you’re not going anywhere you will be stuck in a loop all your programmed bad habits.

My 2 cents (just because I can haha) - for anyone who doesn't think that his content is insightful, deep, and true for the most part are ignorant or just plain oblivious. I want to highlight: "for the most part" because some of RSD's stuff is on the thin line between nonsense and advice. I'm sure other intelligent viewers would agree with this, but would also agree that in a more general sense his concepts are quite brilliant.
I can honestly say I've never really come across self-help content the way he conveys it.
I'm not a fan of the philosophies towards women, but you can't win over everyone so I have respect.
    Keep it up man.

Another example for the Halo Effect in Music is Frank Ocean. When you think about it "White Ferrari" or "Seigfried" are quite slow moving songs. Without any context you might actually think they are quite boring. But through the social proof (e.g Frank's Status as a litteral god among his fans and blonde being revered as one of the best albums of the decade), the exclusivity of him dropping only 2 Full Albums throughout his carrer, waiting 4 years inbetween and giving no interviews at all and his personal branding as this vulnarable but strong guy that a lot of people relate to you are able to see his songs as the masterpieces the are🙏
