I’ve watched at least half a dozen videos on making tiered skirts (I’m a beginner) and this is the clearest one-honestly the only one I can follow all the way through. Andrea was a very good teacher. I hope her family visit these videos from time to time and remember how Andrea’s public appreciated her. 😔🙏🏼

Hare Krishna. Thank you for the beautiful demonstration. The tip on sewing the hem BEFORE adding it as a tier is so practical. Thank you for showing the way to make the measurements. Increasing by a half of the previous tier is logical and easy to remember. I am a plus size woman so I will be adding some narrow tiers at the top. The fabric is gorgeous. I am sure the little button was delighted with her skirt.
These are my favorite! I'm a high school teacher and these are like sweatpants that are work appropriate. No concerns about bending over desks or how you sit! So awesome!

Lovely. My Nan used to make me skirts like this...we called them gypsy skirts and the top and bottom tier were the same material with a different colour or pattern for the middle tier. Nan used to also sew lace round the bottom of mine....watching this brought back lovely memories of my dear Nan.
Far FAR easier for me to understand than any pattern I have ever purchased. Wish you were around so I could make this for my girls and myself and show you my fine work!

They sell T shirts in all nice bright colors (can't remember the price but they usually have coupons) They might would give a discount considering the number you purchase. Wow, I watched your video this morning (Sewing with a Pattern, I think) and it inspired me to sew something for my daughters. I chose a skirt in a sewing book I already had because I didn't want to have to go out and buy a pattern. It turns out the pattern I picked out this morning is exactly the skirt you just made in this video!!! I feel much more confident trying to make it now that I was able to watch you do it. Thanks! ☺
So clever! It's one of those garments that looks like it must be complicated, but it's actually (what my mom calls) "stupid easy". I already own a pattern for tiered skirts, but this video is definitely going to be bookmarked for potential future use.

Thank you for sharing & teaching us. I know I don't do some things out of worry of failing. Your hair looks good up. In one of your videos a few months ago you had your hair French braided & it looked so beautiful! I wear my hair up a lot in the summer. Thanks for sharing your family with us!

I have a tip that might make your gathering go a little faster. I actually have a hard time doing gathering using the method that you use. So somewhere along the way I discovered that if you use a large zig-zag stitch over dental floss. You can pull the gathers with the dental floss. Once the skit is all sewn you can slide the dental floss out. be sure to wrap the end that you are not pulling around a pin and pin it down so you don't just end up pulling it out without making the gathers.
You can add pockets absolutely easy to anything with sidesams. If you want pockets in a peasant skirt I'd suggest making the top tier from two equally long pieces of fabric, so you have symetric sideseams there and you can add pockets there. You just leave a gap where the pocket goes, sew on each pocket piece and than flip it over to sew the two pockets together. (This was just a quick explanation, I'm pretty sure there are video tutorials on youtube though!) You can also add pockets to excisting skirts with this method, you just need to seamrip an opening first.

@@keltyocity1029 It was about 3ish years. She passed from breast cancer that spread (if I remember correctly). It all happened so suddenly.
Wish I had left more comments when Andrea was here to read them. She was a good teacher and a friend to many that she'd never met.

We used to have a Ben Frankling, but it went out of business a couple of years ago. I've noticed Hobby Lobby has bright T-shirts, too.

Get a ruffler. They do a great job. Its very easy and always perfectly even.🤗
