I have watched several videos on making the tiered skirts and almost didn't watch yours because it;s "all the same"....glad I didn't dis-guard yours. Your method of pinning and measuring the quadrants and then gathering the ruffles is the BEST in my opinion. Well done! Thanks so much for the tutorial.
They say better late than never, It has taken me these 3 years to find a video I can truly follow to understand how to ruffle others feather with these beautiful. Thank you for sharing your talent.
I've FINALLY found a video worth watching! I've been looking for days, trying to find a suitable beginner tiered skirt tutorial. This is THE most thorough and easy to understand video on RUclips! Thank you so much!! I'm off to Spotlight to buy my material! :)
This is by far the BEST tutorial on how to make a tiered skirt that I've found. I really appreciate the measurements diagram in the beginning. I've saved this for the future. Still need to gather my supplies!
I love your tutorial ❤ I've made native skirts almost same as you do yours. I use quilting thread for the basting, they are a lot stronger and won't break. Thank you for your easy to understand tutorial.
I love being old enough and wise enough not to give two hoots about what people think. I do think that this winter there will be either leggings or leg warmers under that skirt for winter.
@@MrsGsSewingSpace I wear leggings under my skirts! I’m 6’0 tall and unfortunately if I don’t make my own dresses or skirts I don’t have a choice. I’ve never cared about what others thought so it was easy to do 🤣🤣🤣. Thanks again for this awesome tutorial!💞
I think I finally found the Most clearly explained tutorial on tiered skirt.....thank you..I will try to make another one...First one made was OK but mistakes happened along the way..😊
@@MrsGsSewingSpace I finally have the time to make this skirt. I measured the first tier, but if I sit down I don't think it's enough room. I'm going to add some extra inches to be safe.
Great video. Try stitching through the elastic, vertically, along the seam or seams of the waistband to prevent the elastic from twisting inside of the casing. Then you don't need to stitch along the top of the waistband.
As a visual learner and not being great at math the visual for measuring helped so much I have to make a two tier one is it the same the first their would end at mid thigh
I LOVE IT 😍😍 I got heaps of fabric I could use. I might even unpack my serger out of it's box and get the courage to actually use it (only had it for 4 years lol). You explained everything very clearly so that I think I might be able to tackle this project myself 😊. Glad to see you are staying safe. Maz, South Australia.
Awesome! I am glad that this video has inspired you. I love my serger. It makes the insides of my clothes look professional and not home made which is something I try to avoid.
@Patricia Ashley I will say a prayer now for your daughter and family. Hope your skirt worked ok. Pattern instructions aren't always enough. Also I have a harder time understanding without everything in my hand to see and try. It's nice to have someone to show you or answer a question.
Most modern machines have a reverse button but if you don't have one just turn your project around so that it sews down the seam in the opposite way. Then turn it back around and sew down the seam as normal. That is the only way I know how to reverse stitch without a reverse stitch button.
I am sure you could but you would need to calculate how much your foot gathers. That is why I don't use my gathering foot like that. I'd rather do it by hand so I have my gathers looking like I want. But use it if you are comfortable in doing so.
I know what you are talking about, but I don't have a video for that. I just run two parallel basting stitches, then pull both threads. I find that I can gather better that way. Especially for larger projects. But that is just me.
Excellent video and easy to fit sizes and heights. I can place the top tier seams at the sides and do something with the extra fabric. I don't think seams will be so noticeable in the gathered tiers. I saw your channel today and watched 2 videos SO FAR. Thanks.
I am so happy that you are finding my video's and are enjoying them. I am still working on video's but it won't be so often as I am in school. But keep watching there are more in the pipeline.
Thank you so much for sharing all your wonderful gifts and talents and patience!!!😊
Thank you so much for your lovely comment.

Great video

@@MrsGsSewingSpace Are you able to show a tutorial on how to draft a simple pattern and sew a loose fitting top which can be worn with this skirt pls?
I will have to look into some simple patterns but I will add your suggestion to my list.

very pretty and you did great explaining. just wondering how tall you are to see if I can make this with your length measurements. I am 5'7.
I am 5'5".
Your just fantastic
Thank you so much!
Thanks for the video but how do you back stitch it your sewing machine doesn't back stitch? Thanks again

yes to leggings
Is there a way to use a gathering foot to sew tiers together?

I am so nervous !! I have only made square skirts !!
No worries, take your time. And there is enough ease in this skirt that you could mess up a bit and it will still look good.
I think I could almost do that.
You can absolutely do this. It is quite easy. Just take it a step at a time. Don't rush.
How do I do the stitch that you need to pull the ruffles?
I know what you are talking about, but I don't have a video for that. I just run two parallel basting stitches, then pull both threads. I find that I can gather better that way. Especially for larger projects. But that is just me.
