Can't believe I have to say this but some of you people are so fucking annoying so might as well clear some things up.
1. "UHHHHH WHERE'S GENERATIONS 3DS?!" already made a video talking about all of the dimps ports. The reason why I didn't include the Unleashed and Generations port is because those games weren't exclusive in the first place.
2. "You forgot Sonic Chronicles and Sonic Battle" Yeah I did, and that's my bad.
3. "How DARE YOU say SONIC ADVANCE IS BAD!!! DISLIKED!"

I still think Sega would’ve lost to Nintendo, even if they were still making consoles look at the Saturn turned out.
SEGA of America killed their hardware, no one else.
First they killed fans trust with the 32X.
Then when that flopped they botched the Saturn launch and moved it forward, prompting stores to refuse to sell it.
Then Bernie Stolar gave his infamous "The Saturn is not our future" speech and killed interedt in it full stop.
THEN they gave Bleem! development kits for the Dreamcast to make it compatible with PlayStation (which was never going to happen) and piracy turned the Dreamcast into a chalk outline and bankrupted SEGA.

Making another comment so more people see this: Sonic Advance was ported to N-Gage and even had 2 Android ports. This is forgotten by many.
(We all pretend the N-Gage doesn't exist, that is why we forget)
The Sonic Rush Trilogy (yes I’m counting Colors DS) are some of my favorite 2D Sonic games. Everything from the gameplay to the music is great. Makes me wish they continued making Rush games.
And I do like Sonic Lost World at the end of the day. (Even the 3DS version.) Although I am not going to defend the game’s lack of originality and it giving us the Deadly Six. I hate those goons with a passion. (At least they’re somewhat redeemed in the comics.)
I’d honestly say that sonic rush is debatable a quadruoligy or saga since gens 3ds & maybe even unleashed wii can be in the same set of games as they are all boost sonic games made by dimps.
Some additional points I would like to add in favor of Black Knight, specifically its gameplay.
I feel like most people who play this try to play it like it's Secret Rings 2. Slow, clunky, lots of jumping, etc. But in reality, that couldn't be further from the case. Caliburn actually makes a huge difference in how you go through the game, and it's a huge improvement.
The way I see most people play is that they either avoid enemies altogether or just swing on the ground, which is not reliable a lot of the time because you run into the enemies you're trying to kill. And that is a valid critique of the game. But when you use homing attack and shake the wiimote, you will perform a combo move that instantly slashes through most, if not all, groups of enemies. And this move carries you forward through all the enemies so long as they're in tight enough clusters. If you master this, which the game incentivizes you to do, then suddenly everything has a much faster pace. You're not just swinging and hoping for the best, it's more methodical and planned out. You're actively trying to defeat as many enemies as you can in one go to keep up your combo and your momentum. And in some of the later levels, it can get incredibly intricate and super satisfying to pull off. And there are other moves that help with this as well, like the lunge attack, which is more reliable than attacking on the ground, and keeps your momentum. And the soul surge, which allows you to more directly strike if you don't trust the combo.
It's not an amazing gameplay loop, and the game doesn't do a great job explaining this to you, but I do believe it has a lot of underappreciated depth. And there is stuff I didn't mention, like the different styles, items, and other playable characters. This isn't specifically directed at you, by the way. Just a brief summary for those who don't know or who dismissed this game too quickly.
This game is my favorite in the series, and it means a lot to me (as you can probably tell). It just had so much passion put into it and it shows in things like the story, the voice acting, the ost, and the presentation. Really, the only thing IMO that keeps it from being amazing is it's controls, and some bizarre design choices about progression.
IDK, just some thoughts of a random Sonic fan.
I wouldn't have expected to see "methodical" be used as a word for this. It is just spamming one move to letting it rip, making the vast majority of Sonic's extended moveset mostly useless outside of bossfights.

The reason Sonic Colors is a Wii exclusive is because it started development as the Wii version of Sonic Generations, but it changed into Sonic Colors somewhere along the way.
And yes, I am aware that Colors came out a whole-ass year before Generations, making this fact a bit insane, but that's SEGA for you.
@@julianx2rlYeah, that is why Planet Wisp 2D is the most slapdash and unpolished level in the game. They could recycle the 3D stage from the actual game(Minus some upconversion in detail), but they basically had to just sneeze a Classic Sonic-level into the project last minute.
Black knight is fun as hell idc what anyone says, story was great, combat was great, and the fake out ending is top 3 endings in any sonic game
If it wasn't for Nintendo, I never would have gotten to play Sonic Rush or the Adventure games: truly the early 2000s was the Golden age of Sonic (for me and my siblings at least)👑

Secret Rings actually sold very well which was why they did another storybook game and made Colours exclusive to the Wii

Idk what you’re smoking but the sonic advance trilogy was better than the rush games by a long shot. Level design wasn’t bad at all all the levels I felt were unique in the advance trilogy and each zone had its own theme, boss fights were fun, and the sound tracks were outstanding! but to each their own. I played the trilogy countless times as a kid and I enjoy them even now that I’m older.
This is something that I feel SEGA has been doing for years. I really wish that they added some more Sonic Games to the Nintendo. The another reason is that some Consoles I don’t have so I can’t check out Some Sonic Games if there not on the Nintendo. While always Great video SF Productions)
One thing to note about sonic colors, it was originally gonna be a seperate version of sonic generations for both the wii & ds respectively.
Bonus fact: there’s also a lost psp port of generations. That seems like it’s based on the 3DS version.
I think going multiplatform was a mixed bag for Sonic.
First non-SEGA port: Sonic Adventure DX
First non-SEGA game: Sonic Heroes
First buggy port: Sonic Adventure DX
First buggy game: Sonic Heroes
(Adventure on Dreamcast is no more buggy than Mario 64 and others of the time, and most games had the "early 3D jank" too). But DX has more bugs than Bug's Life the game.
(An irrelevant ramble: I know I just said mario 64 is buggy too, that's because it is. The reason people hate the DS version which is better in every way from framerate(30 > 20) poly count, etc. Is because they patched the backwards long jump glitch which explaoits a collision detection glitch to launch up slopes at high speeds in speedrunning.)
My theory is that SEGA stopped caring for Sonic Team when they lost their need to push hardware.
Hence the difference in love and polish for Sonic, and ANY other franchise they make/own, like Persona, Yakuza, etc.
I've heard that Sonic Colors was made because they couldn't port Sonic Generations to the Wii. That's why it was exclusive to Nintendo consoles.

I really enjoyed lost world, secret rings and the black knight yet I never beaten any of them black knight and lost world was because of the bosses and secret rings was because I couldn’t figure out how to progress. Please let me know if I should finish the games I mentioned.

The reason that colors is exclusive to the Nintendo Wii is because it was originally going to be a port of generations for said platform, but due to hardware limitations, Sega decided to make it into a completely new game.

Advance 1 wasn't exclusive to Nintendo, many forget that. Lost World was ported to PC, but it's a pretty mediocre port.

Then years after i bought the game on steam and, wow, the game is so underrated the game is so fun with satisfying gameplay i can't expressed on how polished the game actually is and the level designs is on another level seriously is one if not the best sonic game out there i think generations is better but after generations is got to be lost world

Sonic boom fire and ice is genuinely a good game. I’m not just saying it’s the best sonic boom game. While it is the best of the boom games it’s also just a good game in general

Fun fact if you see sonic model in lost world it's really similar like sonic forces that because lost world done first that's why everyone see sonic model in forces look weird they just take sonic model from lost world and put in forces and that's why everyone hate sonic forces model
Awesome video. I liked the gc ports of the adventure games especially sa2b. I always liked how detailed and playing as Amy in the multiplayer mode.

I wish Sega could try their hand again with a gaming console... With the situation with consoles nowadays... Sega would be rolling in dough (cash) from the fact that these modern systems have been lacking things that Sega probably (most likely) wouldn't leave out.

It seems, I'm a Nintendo lover, because my both favourites (+ one serie as an honorable mention) were Nintendo exclusives.
So for more traditional 2D gameplay my favorite game serie is Sonic Advance, I just love Advance levels structure and variety of playable characters. And also nostalgia, of course, it was one of my first platformers.
And about 3D titles... Apologies, but Lost World takes the lead here. From what I've played in Sonic franchise it's just the best. First of all, gameplay mechanics (not only parkour ones but also chargeable lock-on, infinite spin-dash, normal working double jump, etc), which (once you learn how to use them) allow you to complete levels not by just pressing boost/jump button but experimenting. Also some levels (mostly Act 1) structure hits (my favorite of those being Desert Zone Act 1, which is a perfect level to learn how to use spin-dash). Music (gorgeous as usual, soviet comedy.mp4) and Zavok (if u hate him u gay), all that makes Lost World a perfect game for me.
Also, as a big fan of Sonic Boom series and also a one of a few persons who have Wii U, I'm still looking forward to buy Rise of Lyric (because, you know, "we can use those ramps as ramps") and try it. Maybe one day some fans will reincarnate this game and make unofficial sequel (but looking at fanbase that now mostly hates whole "meta-era" period, yeah...)
Less than a decade after 06, SEGA sucker-punched anyone who thought the worst was over. 2014 is the year tails knuckles and amy get to share the spotlight with sonic after years of being pushed aside? nah, sega bent the knee to nintendo and gutted the project. all new designs, knuckles and amy get reconceptualized from scratch, wasted on a sitcom where eggman is a grumpy neighbor and the biggest challenge they face is getting nacho cheese out of the carpet.
I love rise. Of lyric not the worst for me its like open world and i always back to it because I watched sonic boom show a lot and there that city and same city there but sometimes I found bug or glitch + I don't care about fps that much sometimes I play multiple player because I was having good time I loved it because it feels like open world and i love open world for me
As a giy who mainly grew up and painstakingly completed both Sonic colors and Lost World 3ds
What i thibk you really shouldve mentioned that Colors relied WAY too much on the 2d aspect
And while Sonic Loat World 3DS is functional. A lot of the gane suffers from bloated enemy health(especially the turtle tank or the purple worms) bad gyro controls woth its special stages
And how the levels often go for way too long when q good chunk of it (mainly the 2d levels) were could get cut or seprated and the game wpuldve been better

Lost world gets more flak than I feel it deserves, yeah the zeti are very shamelessly copying Bowser and the koopalings but apart from that the level design is pretty good and works pretty well in tandem with the parkour mechanics, (the 3ds version is very much ass though good god who thought having up to 40 minute long levels was a good idea, also I was one of the very few people to actually do the harder versions of the levels for the 3ds version and I genuinely don't know why I did that)

Having games on the Nintendo DS and 3DS is almost a death sentence for being able to play them in the future. Due to the touchscreen gameplay often being heavily tied to the game itself requiring revamping some mechanics to make the game playable on modern platforms including PC. So, this makes remastering amd/or porting to modern platforms very uninviting to companies.
Yes, Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are "remakes" of Diamond and Pearl Pokémon games; however, those are BS examples and you know it!
Nintendo. Why on Earth do you think people keep pirating your games? You make it impossible or expensive to do so legitimately.
It is like getting a very nice couch. However, after 1 year, the people you bought it from break into your place and take all the cushions from the couch. You are unable to replace them because said people have a patent on the specific cushions required for the couch and refuse to let anyone make or sell them. That is Nintendo with their game consoles more or less.

2:18 Wrong doc, you mentioned/implied two sentences ago it shouldn't have lost exclusivity later to be mentioned from this point forward, advance 1 was ported to android a decade later.(Bad port before fans fixed it, but still ported.)

I still hear more positive things about Advance 1 than negative(Like, Sonic 1 and 2 are 10 times more split at this point than this game I feel and people are constantly blowing up the "What be Sonic 4 to u?"-discussions with this game) and the memes associated with "weird and sometimes frustrating dimps design" associated with 2 and 3 are moreso applied to Rush and Rush Adventure in the fanbase...and those are still considered in the top half of games.

3:21 Mostly because people don't like its pacing and because Sega itself barely cares about these games anymore. For more than a decade, Blaze has been mostly a piece of 06-fanservice, only giving lip service to her role in Rush like once Runners, once in TSR and that one short time Sanic was yeeted to her dimension in the comics.
3:52 You can say that again. I recall saying in the comments of another video over here that the game maps incredibly well to a controller? Yeah, the game only explicitly uses motion for like 1 or 2 things(one of them being the occasional catapult), everything else has no issue being replaced...and is better replaced.
That is why I actually have faith in a potential remaster. Fix the short laundry list of what's broke to finish the controls and put in the most basic QoL of displaying what missions are mandatory and you have an entirely functional game. It's genuinely a waste and a shame, this should have been delayed by a year.(Though the same can be said for the project it split off of, so really, it's a giant Sega-funny)

There are major imperfections but one has to consider that playing with a controller is more a proof of concept because you aren't supposed to, and as someone who through the majority of the game at least twice, the concept works. It is not something one couldn't refine, it legitimately would not even take too much of an overhaul unlike say...P-06 where the original game was so unfinished in how the majority of characters play that the creator had to make 30 things up or pull some things from games made after.
That is why people say this, getting the then-unfamiliar motion technology to work was a cr*pshow and a waste of effort and they would have had an easier time optimizing for controller. If anything, I'd argue the motion integration ended up being so poor that they should have just cut it and demanded you play with controller, which would have given them more relative time to get it to work correctly.

8:30 I can personally feel a more close relation to Unwiished. The only major thing that screams "Unleashed!" over it for me is the continuous boost. Now, is the game looking less scuffed for shifting the point of comparison? *wheeze* Nope, if anything it makes it more silly because it means they already did boost better on the Wii. It just makes it more clear from a development standpoint where they went wrong with "addressing the critisism about there not being enough plattforming"(but even then, there are other silly things like one level that starts with what amounts to a 1 minute cutscene).

Respectfully, I disliked this video for 2 reasons:
1) ya didnt talk bout the advance series much which deserves a lot more recognition despite your dislike to the trilogy, which i heavily disagree, i throughly enjoyed them: advance 1 being good nuff, advance 2 improving gameplay more (tho 100% game was not that fun), and advance 3 being my fav, i believe, improved on both ends.
2) you forgot about Sonic Generations for the 3DS, which is mediocre at best, but deserves to be talked about since its diffrent compared to the console/superior version and uh, ya know, NINTENDO EXCLUSIVE, which is a false advertisement sorta thing...
All respect tho.

It's a diffrent experience, in terms of gameplay and extras; theres diffrent levels and bosses from previous games EXCLUSIVE to the 3DS, so it deserves to be recognized. @@SurfyManx
