    I got one of these last year on Amazon for $40 US Decent lil knock off. I upgraded the wheels and tires and added brass wheel weights.

    Got myself 2 for $70 on walmart online 2 years ago, best thing i did was put on a kyosho jimny body on one of them, direct fit and way cheaper than the original mini z jimny lol, i will eventually get the new mini z denfender body for the other one too.

    Cheap RC 's specially decent performing models is helping the industry grow more. It's helps newbies "test the waters"as they say and can eventually be hooked to the hobby and willingly spend extra cash for the legit models when they get serious.

    Woah, gotta say, I'm impressed with the steering servo on that knockoff. It's usually the weak spot on Kyosho 4x4's.

    Clones / copies / inspired by, these are part of life everyday across every industry. You only have to go into a supermarket and for every big, successful brand product there will be a cheeky alternative from the supermarket. Its quite simply normal behaviour, any successful product will have wannabes who are cashing in on success. I don't see any harm in clones as long as there is no patent / copyright infringement and its no a fake. As long as people are very clear its a cheaper knock off then that's ok and you can make your own choice. I think that if people are copying your product it can actually add to the prestige of owning the original..

    I have 2 of these, the green one & white one,branded as Red Spider, which I bought a couple of years ago, change the shocks, fit the Kyosho light kit & away you go, I think they are brilliant little trucks, I have been looking for more but unable to find any👍

    I'm with you I absolutely love the mini z by kyosho but the price is higher than I can go. As for clones I absolutely 💯 percent think they should be available. Simply because not everyone can afford them high dollar cars, so it's not fair really to exclude the less fortunate out of a hobby, it's like fishing get a kid hooked while they are young...and they will love it for life, and eventually one just may get that higher dollar car..it's about the hobby to hell with the ones who disagree...obviously it's NOT ABOUT THE HOBBY TO THEM!!!!!!

    My current adult venture into rc started out with the scx24, and whilst it looks very different now (see profile pic) I still use it. I bought a relatively cheap, 3d printed, set of obstacles. I see both sides of the clone issue, manufacturers lose money and thus are less able to develop new products, however clones help expand the hobby. Especially when they turn out to be pretty good. I do think that the aaa battery is very backwards on a £200+ toy, but at under £100 it's a little more acceptable but there's now a few at this kind of price that outperform their more expensive stable mates. Low speed modulation is often lacking out of the box.

    I think when this first hit amazon it was like 65usd. I’m with you man.. I can’t justify buying a mini z. Over priced all the way around.

    I don’t mind a cheap clone. I think it helps serve as a gateway for people into the hobby. They might be willing to Chuck a few bucks at a cheaper version to try and learn with, then grow from there. Minimal risk, high reward for the hobby as a whole. I also understand the issue from the manufacturer and development side, but as a consumer that’s not my problem. 😂

    This lost me when you mentioned triple A batteries, It could be the best rc car in the world, but I have absolutely no interest in using AAA batteries to operate it. FMS has things in this price range that are infinitely superior

    Ya kyosho is expensive but its worth every penny mini z are so smooth and responsive and kyosho pay for licensing where that bumps the price up

  • @RinkaiKouen
    @RinkaiKouen 5 месяцев назад

    I had one, and it was like 85% as good as the Kyosho, which is not bad at all.
    However, nothing compares to the JJRC 1/18 for the money right now imho.

    It only takes from the brand if people were going to buy the branded in the first place,which in the main they aren't as so expensive.Just my thoughts.

    I’d buy this clone (a similar is available but uses bettery pack-different brand (austar ax-8560 around $50-$60) anytime compare to kyosho, upgrades are available and it will be a lot better and still cheaper than kyosho. Or, just buy a hobbyplus crp18 kratos/furitek fury wagon brushless, FMS…Never will I waste my money on an overpriced hard to find and expensive parts kyosho mini 😁

    I have seen these compared to an actual Mini Z, and the performance is pretty darn close. I'd say it's a good buy if you don't want to spend over $200

  • @roblowrie1969

    Personally, I couldn't justify spending £200 on a Mini Z, but would consider £100, as long as there was part support! It's all well and good buying something like this, and I'm drawing from personal experience with an HBX Devastator, that when you buy it, and break it, you can actually get parts at all, they're not stupidity expensive (Arrma Gorgon(and that's not even a clone!!!!)), and it wouldn't take months to get parts (6 months in the case of the Devastator when it arrived with a damaged driveshaft!!). This copy isn't taking my money out of Kyoshos pocket, as I wouldn't but it! But, if it we're cheaper (and I'm not saying £100, as that's not going to happen (quality of parts, quality control, etc), but there must be a point where, if enough people bought this over the Mini Z, how many more Mini Z's could Kyoshos have sold, if everyone was thinking like me?
    An interesting theoretical financial question?!! Or does it make no difference?
    Or is the bigger picture here, China's apparent lack of giving a hoot about interlectual property and copyright?
    Are we waiting for that new RC Channel, Behind RC, presented by Rikkey?
    PS- Looks to be a pretty good little truck for the not so much money. 👍🏻

    • @beyondRC
      @beyondRC  5 месяцев назад +2

      Some great points made there mate. The Arrma stuff is a joke at the moment and the Gorgon is the perfect example £40 for a slipper clutch?? I remember when the body set was £99 then the prices dropped. So many are buying replacement full trucks just for the spares as the prices are not friendly at all. Great trucks let down by their greed. I think the mini-z fans are a niche part of the market and they run them on tracks etc so for them they will pay the premium but for most I don’t think anyone is paying £200 for a teenie little Rc that runs on aaa batteries. Hahaha new channel idea 😜

      The knife market is insane with copies . They could at tleast just leave the names off. Spyderco and Benchmade stolen copies . Some of them are built decent too but the steel is usually d2 , 8cr , or 440c ( not a bad steel tbh) . It doesn’t seem right but the price is , lol .
