Kyosho Turbo Optima way back in the 1980s! Son has a Maverick Strada short-track truck. Now getting into crawling with Panda Hobby Tetra XT2 and FTX Outback Mini X Fury.
My dad got one back in late 80's and had me hooked that I wanted one for my birthday, used to go over to tescos on a sunday back in the day when they was closed and tear up the carpark, those were the days, recently my dad has passed and am wanted to get back into RC again It was a tamiya 4x4 buggy that we both had.
My first RC was a Kyosho tomahawk. All metal chassis and a brushed motor. It was so old and even had a brushed speed control. Now I'm an old man and I can afford all the RC that I want . I have planes boats cars trucks crawlers I love it all , long live the RC world . When it comes to RC , you either get it , or you don't ! 😊
I had the Kyosho Big Boss. I still have an old RC10T. Just grabbed an HBX 16890A to run with my 5 year old and we're loving it. The lipo batteries are so good!
My 1st RC is going to be an Arrma Senton Boost 4x2 with a Hobywing EZ Run 4000kv combo, blx upgrade, 2 5200mah 2S 80C batteries and a Dumbo radio. Is currently on shipping and i can't wait to use it. Probably im going to run the truck brushed for a while to gain confidence and then make the brushless upgrade.
My very first r/c was a Tamiya Grasshopper. I've had so many R/Cs back in the day from the Lunchbox, Clodbuster, Ultima, and Lazer. I used to race about 30 years ago with a Tamiya King Cab. The last cars I owned before having them stolen was and Ofna Jammin buggy and a Losi Matt Francis edition XXX-T. I currently only have a Losi JrxT on a shelf as decoration and for memories of the past.
I have always wanted a quick rc when I was younger. Now all grown up married my wife asked “ what do you want for Christmas?” This video helped me out so much, thank you for breaking it down.
My first RC was a tank that my dad bought me, this was about 30 years ago, used to have a light up gun turret and cannon with sound effects, tracks etc. Was pretty awesome, was perfect for all those plastic toy soldiers we used to get. Now I just got back into it and purchased a SG116 Max and a SG216 Max to start out again but with something cheap and hopefully reliable.
I got a RC10T Sport in 1995. With mechanical speed control, 540 motor, Duratrax 1500mah battery, Hobbico 5amp charger. It was a kit; I'm 15 with no local hobby shop, no Google search/RUclips video to help. That RC took about a month to fully complete. I remember my grandpa buying 1st upgrades from tower hobbies-- ball bearings, 14turn modified motor, Tekin 410 esc and 1700mah battery. That 1st fresh pack with upgrades installed.......😃 the dirt roost & dust ☺ loved RCs ever since!
Same, I use to watch this rc tv show back in the day an I was buying the rc driver mags (still have every issue I ever bought...100s lol) an kept saying I wanted one one day dad came home with a nitro tmax the first gen with the .15 an been hooked ever since was 13 st the time an now 35. With 14 cars an trucks 2 boats an a heli. An absolutely love it still even tho I havent driven one in a year cuz my apartment is to small right now to house them so I only have my honcho here for now.
I got into rc cars about 8 to 10 years ago. My step dad got me a revo for my first car. I broke the suspension the first day lmao. Unfortunately our house we were living in burned down. And i hadn't had a car since till this Christmas. My dad bought me a slash 4x4 and i can't love it enough.
Thank u for your effort and many valuable info in your videos 😊me and my 7 y old daughter just purchased our first rc-car the Arrma granite grom mega 4wd. We love it 😊
MY first RC was the 14401 beacause i watched you video and decided. So thank you man great video for people like me who struggle to work out what to buy when i was looking. Keep up the good work. Thanks
My first RC car was a Kyosho Optima, back when they were launched, my current fleet of cars are, Kyosho Optima Mid 2023, Kyosho Turbo Optima 2023, 2x Schumacher CAT XLS Masami re-run release, 2022, 2x CAT L1R, Schumacher Atom, Serpent 977 Anniversary Edition. Also have 3x TREX 450 Helicoptera and a TREX 600 Helicopter. Always have loved RC cars, planes, boats and helicopters, got in to it in the mid 80's
My grandson got a toy grade RC this past Christmas and it didn't take long for this grandpa to get hooked. So far we have 2 Haiboxing 1/18 monster trucks and just got 2 Arrma Granite Megas. We also got about 2 feet of snow here in the northeast USA. Can't wait for Spring. Thank you for posting so much info useful to us newbies. Also as an American it's fun to learn U.K. English as a second language, LOL Subscribed and look forward to all your videos. Stay safe!
Hey Rick! Its very addicting once you get hooked there's no going back! Not a problem and i plan on doing more videos very similar to this one and even in more detail. Haha that's great we say things a little different over here LOL! Stay safe!
I had a Traxxas Rustler as my first RC from 2009. I had been driving it around the front yard of my old home in Maryland, until it's been put into storage. I never saw it again.
My first RC car I got was actually on my birthday several years ago. Probably 15 years now, it was a on road RC car which I still have but it hasn't being ran for a while. Now though I get RC vehicles myself.
i got my first rc car on christmas and it was a traxxas (latrax) teton and it’s the most fun, i’ve had to upgrade to aluminum control arms because i snapped them with my brother
I just got into the hobby a few months ago. I bought a cheep Tank and a cheap boat, around £10 from the market. The Tank is fun but the boat too slow😂 JUst cheap toys really but if im enjoying the hobby even at this low level I will love the better more expensive vehicles. Great video, very helpful. Cheers😊
My first rc i cared about was a zipzap from radioshack here in the states. I am looking to get back into this as an adult and i am focusing in on the sg 1604. Great channel very informative thanks.
My First RC was a Tamiya Escort RS Cosworth in the Repsol Livery, it was a Christmas Present from my Parents although my dad ended up using it more than me lol.
Hi Beyond RC ...I got into RC cars when I bought a FTX Outlaw from a friend for £50 Iused to be a mechanic and tincker with motorcycles i was amazed with the egineering of an RC car and the exact same mechanics needed to repair them I really enjoy driving the RC cars and its the same with repairing them. based on my enjoyment and having more time in my life I purchased a FTX DR8 which is Awesome ran is on 3s then 4s and 6s is Evil but great fun. well into it now i have gone down the rabbit hole theres no turning back.
i think another thing to consider would be "what type of rc" there are quite alot of different rc types, wether it be buggies, drift cars, touring cars, truggies, etc
Assure from stuff when I was a kid, my first hobby grade care was a 1/16 Traxxas Slash. Now I have a Rustler VXL 4x4 and Bandit converted to a Rustler 2wd brushless conversion. Want to go bigger for ground clearance!
@@beyondRC been thinking of that, would like to see a comparison with the Rustler I know I get the clearance, but I'm think size would still be similar.
My first car was a tamiya hornet my 2nd was a RC10 and then the 3rd was a 10L and yes I still have all 3, now that I have more time iam getting back in to RC’S Thank you for the videos this will help me get caught up to modern times ha ha.
My 1st rc was a grasshopper back in the day I loved that thing , I sold it recently and I'm regretting it. I owned many tamiya cars over the years and after a long break from rc, I've been getting back into the hobby I still love tamiya but they seem to be behind the times and expensive compared with other brands.
No way! Get another one ASAP haha. I also think tamiyas are behind the times now but there are a selected few who still prefer that more classic or vintage looking RC which is why they are still a great option.
My dude, I feel exactly the same way. My first car was a Grasshopper back when I was in grade school in Korea. Now old and in the 'States, I desperately want Tamiya's Cartoon Grasshopper. Have you seen this thing? Maybe it will fill the Grasshopper-shaped hole in your heart? www.amainhobbies.com/tamiya-wr02cb-comical-grasshopper-1-10-offroad-2wd-buggy-kit-tam58662/p797297 And the original www.amainhobbies.com/tamiya-grasshopper-1-10-offroad-2wd-buggy-kit-tam58346/p124654
I just bought my first rc car 3 days ago.i got alot to learn idk what kind it is or anything about it but I always wanted one so I'm going to figure it out
My first true RCs were a Tamiya midnight pumpkin and a Tamiya buggy. I was 7 or 8. In my 20s in ran nitro monsters, 1/8 buggy's and truggys, 1/10 rally, and 1/5 buggy's. Left the hobby for some years, and now I'm back on it with brushless. Nitros are great and a lot of fun, but you need some time to perfect nitro tuning. Brushless, the best power on a rc, and almost plug and play.
That is an amazing RC history right there! I think brushless is the way forward these days. I loved nitro and petrol but the maintenance involved and care required sometimes took the fun out of it for me. These days i know my brushless RC will be sat there ready to go with a freshly charged pack or two and it is literally power on and go no tuning to worry about or carb settings. The only way to go these days in my opinion :)
@@beyondRC but nitro was extremely rewarding. Hitting the track, and you having a better tuned engine for that day than your friends... bragging rights earned. Once I bought an engine from a german tuner, .28 9+2 ports, 52k rpm, 4.5hp. That thing was a beast, and 5°c difference in ambient temperature, you needed to change the glow plug and tune. Had that thing mounted on a savage X with 3 speed gearbox, and I could keep up with buggys on the track. Miss those days.
Always thought 1/10 RTR electric buggy/rally car is best to start with. 1/10 is a nice size and you can run a buggy anywhere. I went through a period of having nothing but touring cars great fun didn't have anywhere to use them then lost interest for a few years. Now have a mix still got nowhere to run touring cars but I got a golf course for buggy bashing.
a 1/10 RTR is definitely a good way to go in regards to size and being able to run it anywhere. I have never really got into the touring car stuff as you are limited to car parks or track. With off road RC you can go anywhere.
I was looking for something to share with a friend who is interested after seeing my cars. I am sharing this with him - it's a great overview of RC cars and will help any newcomers to get headed in the best direction
Just bought the Power Craze safari racer from Walmart, can’t lie for $30 it is absolutely awesome! Now I believe I’m going for more advanced. Also my first rc was a 1:6 scale planet toys Nissan Titan Truck! I still have it to this day, just need a receiver.
I got my first RC car back in 2007. It was a 1/10 scale plaque Ford at 3:50. They had a sale going on on them, so I took advantage of the opportunity to get $100 truck for $50. I ended up giving it to my oldest nephew. It was an electric ready to run, and I think it had a brushed motor. And it had a nickel metal hydride battery. And, like you said, it came with everything I needed, but the battery was absolute junk. It didn’t last very long. My second one was a boat. Amazon has a two-for-one special for an RC Tesla cyber truck and a cyber quad as part of a two bundle package. I think I want a brushless model, because I heard they’re quieter, more powerful, and they last longer. Am I right? 15:15
Some of us older folks remember this one. Among the knight rider era, a toy car came out that u could preprogram a route by lifting the hood where u would have a calculator type layout with turn signals symbols added. It was fun then.. if anyone remember the name, please post it ..
Going to watch, hoping that you cover my #1 when expanding my family of RC quads, planes, or cars - I really hope it's in your list, as not many cover it... _watching_ Ok, great points, BRC, but I would like to add one for someone with similar concerns to my own. I have over 50 Lithium batteries, the vast majority of which are 1300-1500mah 4S packs for my racing quads (3 min flights!). I have 3S and 4S Li-Ion and Li-Po packs in 1500, 2200, 4000, and 5200mah for planes, as well. Specific 2S LiPos for UMX Planes, and 2S Li-Ions for my FPV goggles. What does that tell you? Nothing, I'm afraid, so I'll explain: Logistics. If I were in the market for any RC right now, I'd ask myself: "Self, would that use a battery you already own?". If the answer is "No", you then have to weigh the benefit of having an all-new battery type in your fleet, rather than using what you already have. Itching for a new Micro Crawler? Did you know that UMX Planes use 2S 380mah LiPos? How about a brushless 1/14 - 1/10 basher? My FPV goggles love 2S Li-Ions, too. How about LG HG2 3000mah, or Molicel 4000mah 21700's? Going a tad faster with that touring car? Here, use one of my 130C 1550mah LiPos I use on my freestyle drones. 3S, 4S, or 6S, your choice. Big Crawlers use big batteries. Sometimes even split packs, just like my boat. 5000mah 3S hard pack pairs. And the zillion 1S sticks for Tiny Whoops also work for your FPV sleds. Or a brushed UMX planes. Or a micro heli. For me, one of the biggest decisions for my next build/purchase is definitely battery infrastructure. But then consider having a multi-protocol module for your radio, that saves the hassle of needing AA's in 30 different radios, when you can instead have one great radio with model memory that you take with you. FlySky Nirvana and FrSky Taranis are my only two radios, both have Jumper JP4in1 modules, and I use them for tanks, cars, quads, helis, planes, and robots. A pair of good 2-way AC/DC chargers, and balance boards that work with all your batteries, and BAM. Use a different style of connector for groups - my 4S batteries are XT60, 3S are Deans, 2S are XT30, 1S are JST. This method also allows me to save a TON of money for radios, batteries, and chargers I'll never use, when I can keep it simple by purchasing kits. This also has the added benefit of being able to more precisely pick parts for each build, and tailor the RC to my liking, and infrastructure.
12 years ago I got a new bright reaper rc car still have it the rear axle broke so I am take the internals and adding the to my rock runner because that one's front motor stripped out so with me luck
For a beginner, EVEN IF your RTR Vehicle of choice comes with a Nickel Medal battery and charger, I'd HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU BUY A LIPO BATTERY AND CHARGER AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE when you buy the vehicle. You WILL want a LIPO and decent charger, I GUARANTEE it.
i've been into RC as a child, ever since i saw my friend's dad's gas powered rc bolt down my street. now i'm old enough to buy myself these awesome toys. my first RC is th hbx 16889 brushed, 2nd is a arrma granite 4x4 mega. and i'm loving both, trying to break it all ready so i can fix and upgrade.
I loved RC as a child but we didn't have a lot of money and in those days majority were really expensive. But I do remember one of my friends having the Tamiya Lunchbox and the Hornet. I had been gifted mainly toy grade which was The A Team van and a Knight Rider K.I.T car over the years. Finally got back into RC a few years ago buying Fpv quads and planes. My first RC car since getting back into hobby was wltoys 14001. I'm now proper addicted in all aspects of the hobby and brought a few but mainly budget.
Love that man. I also had toy grade stuff whilst others had the tamiyas and higher end stuff but still enjoyed every aspect of it. You don't have to spend a fortune to enjoy RC. The 144001 is the perfect example of that 😁👍
@@beyondRC Yeah back when I was a kid it was so expensive to get into if you wanted something good. How things have moved forward its made it far easier and some of these budget are really good especially the 14001 and after watching your review and a few others I purchased the 124019 or whatever its called. I think both are amazing and to get 30mph out of a brushed motor is incredible and yeah your right you don't have to spend a fortune to have fun. Myself and my nephews had a blast we all had a budget rc and was bashing into each other. I do think places like Banggood, Aliexpress have really helped, you have to wait a little longer, not everything is really good on there but there are some awesome little gems. I never try to stick to one thing as you know the RC hobby is massive so I like to try all aspects. I have mainly budget but did treat myself to Redcat Gen8 Axe. I did buy a dji mavic Air2 also just because I have always been interested in photography and to be able to get aerial pictures and video is awesome. I am proper addicted to Rc now thanks to you and few others on RUclips haha.
Great video mate and great advice, but I think you missed one point and that is where to buy your 1st rc, I would advise people new to rc to buy from local hobby shop and not buy from an overseas seller or any website if they can. The help and advice you can get from the shop you bought your rc from is very valuable.
Hey Brad! Excellent point and its one I did consider putting in there. I purchased my first proper nitro rc from my LHS and as you say the knowledge and experience of speaking to the shop staff was incredible. I certainly wouldn't have got very far without their advice. This is of course the best option but sadly not an option for many who may not have access to one or live in remote areas. Thats why I didn't include it I didn't want people to think they can't get into RC unless the visit a shop. I think the Internet, youtube and forums are a great resource these days and doesn't make LHS useless but you can certainly learn a lot from other users online now and enough to get by when it comes to the first RC purchase especially if its electric as they are the easier option over nitro and petrol. Excellent point and something for people to think about. If you have a local hobby shop be sure to pay them a visit as their advice will be invaluable 👍
Sadly in the UK though hobby shops are becoming a rarity. I had 3 local to me a few years back, now I have none so it's vids like Ricky's etc I make my purchase choices.
@@philhumber1534 yeah fair point mate,I suppose im lucky to have a good hobby shop on my doorstep. And your right Ricky will definitely steer you in right direction.
@@bradmenday3843 Totally, the likes of Ricky and Phil over at TomleyRC are my goto channels as they cover a wider variety than say Kev Talbot. All are great at what they do but Kev is more for established RC folk than new starters and the likes of Arrma,Traxxas etc are not my direction. My lads autistic but loves the intricacy of RC Cars, with the weather he has got much more into the mechanics. We have been going through all the parts, what they do what there called and I buy stuff that he can have no worry if they break, and often cost just a few £ to repair. Our little fleet is growing as come summer I'm trying to get an after school activity going for kids like him.
@@philhumber1534 I agree Phil ,I also watch tomley and the RC sailors check them out if you haven't already and they're all family friendly so you can watch them with your son and it's great when you can share a hobby with your boy ,mines four and he loves helping me, I'm the same we have a growing fleet of RC cars and none of them are top of the range ,just budget bashers. Good luck with the activities are we talking RC based.
I went to my local hobby shop bc my friend was going bc of the new rc car section they had and there I saw it the traxxas slash 2wd I got the unassembled kit it was like 220 instead of 200 for the RTR for some reason and ive had it for a couple months now
I've been watching your channel for 3-4 years now and somehow I was no longer subscribed.. I leave notifications off so not until going thru these older videos did i realize it.. sorry man! Resubbed now though!
My wife got me a Holyton 9205e for Christmas after I told her I wanted a toy for christmas as a joke. Little did we know that cheap rc car she got from amazon for my chrsitmas present would start a whole new venture for me and hahaha. I just got a new Losi 22s sct and I'm loving this RC hobbie
I got 3 RCs ordered, 2 nitros and one electric, plus a sky remote. All for under $250, found a site with name brand stuff for way cheap new. So, if I don't like the RCs, I'm out under $60 for 1:5 to 1:8 models.
I dont feel i get much from this as a newbie shopping. It become clear quickly that Lithium polymer is regarded as better than lithium and 3S over 2S. But why? What degree better? Worth paying 50% more...? But i do appreciate that you named some points that i want described. Good effort.
how much detail can you really go into without making it over complicated? Lithium polymer is better than lithium-ion/nimh batteries due to their chemistry. 3s is 11.1v and 2s 7.4v the increase in voltage will mean more speed/power!
I was looking for a rc excavator actually and i wanted to know how can I tell if it is strong or maybe what chan destroy it and what can not if someone can tell me plis write it down this comment
@@beyondRC aye , I watched your video on it 👍how about making a video where you put on upgrades from Amazon/ banggood ie oil shocks , alloy shock mounts, arms ect good videos by the way, hope you settle into your new home ok and get the garage set up as a studio 👍
My first r/c was a Tamiya tao1 and another one in nitro when I was 16, I left the hobby for a wile and now I am 36 and came around the hobby again,( Tech gap) I get a bit confused when they say li-ion or lipo battery, are they the same ??
Similar but not the same. Lipos are considered safer, more flexible but also more expensive to produce and manufacture. Li ion are cheaper and have a higher energy density over lipos.
Exactly... The title tells you EXACTLY what the video is going to be about . And it is exactly that... So I don't understand why ANYONE would down vote it. 🙄. I swear, some people are not smart.
On the question of which scale to go for…are some preferable to others from the perspective of availability of parts? Don’t want to pick a car and then when it comes time to replace/upgrade something I find out parts are hard to come by because it’s not a common size
My first RC car was a nitro but I didn't enjoy it fully cos of tuning. Now I'd like to buy an electric one and I love the Typhon; my question to you is: Will I get the 6s or the Mega brushed and build it up as I like? Thanks for putting that great content up.
Thats the problem with nitro they are very appealing but the tuning is a massive pain especially for people new to the hobby. Electric RC is the way to go these days! If you get the mega brushed it will be fine to convert to a 3s system at a later date. The 6S is just an animal! No worries man!
I wanna get an RC and feel like a kid again, however I didn't understand 70% of the terms used in this video do you have any video explaining what all these things are ?
I always had superstore rc cars as a kid, bought a very wrecked(guy drove into a parking block at full speed) nitro t-maxx 10ish years ago. Rebuilt the whole truck with factory replacement parts. Ran it around for a while, then sold it. Looking to get back into the hobby some of my kids(I have 5) enjoy the superstore rcs, the way the electrics are priced on amazon/banggood anymore I have been really considering it!
Hi I have started Rc recently and I have the carnage with the upgraded battery and finding I'm needing to buy the cogs regularly like every time I use it.
My first was a Tamiya Tnx Pro, nitro monster truck. Was supposed to be a present but the shop wouldn't sell it her without me being there for a "lesson" 🤣
Amazing Phil. My first Nitro was a Thunder Tiger SSK and im looking around for one to have a play about with as its one of my most favorite and memorable RC's! My hobby store also gave me a lesson on how to start and look after it otherwise it wouldn't have last 5 mins! LOL
Similar to me, the Tamiya had an electric starter but he had to show me how to run it in,how to tune etc. Mine came with the upgraded shocks that were a pain for a noob like me, better heatsink and the same competition engine that had just won the world's. Sadly a brush with the law and a pathetic park "warden" who must have been asleep and I woke(it was a Sunday afternoon) caused my wife to put her foot down. I was literally on my own in an area that fits around 14 football pitches,a cricket pitch and plenty of space and he "banned" me in case I hit someone !!. Tried to claim someone was injured recently, pretended to call his boss but then got all threatened and called the Po Po 🤬. It put me off for a long time as Electrics were way out my budget and really just racers.
Hay bro I am looking to get my first RC it need it to be Ready to run. NowI have a challenge for you I have a low budget my limit is £100 so any hot tips?
Thank you so much for this great video! Can you please recommend me what monster truck rc to buy under $75 a tall jeep that goes great on grass fields? Thank you!
Hello I was wondering if you could give me some advice please which remote control truck will last longer I do like battery ones but Im getting they don't last long get petrol so I that's why I'm asking thank u
Nice and informative video but I think you fell short on the NiMH information LiPO's should never be fully discharged, you will kill them, as soon as the power starts to fade change it out immediately, and for storage they should be charged around 50% for long term storage (1 month+) Full discharged before charging an NiMH? all of my NiMH battery brands (7 of them) all say something similar to this (It is significantly better for NimH batteries NOT to discharge them fully before recharging them or Don’t regularly discharge your batteries completely in an attempt to make them last longer. A complete discharge can actually shorten their lifespan) I'll side with a manufacturer here
Had a Hyper 7 1/8 buggy about 19 years ago, with a .28 Hobao engine and loved it, I also had an onroad 1/10 kyosho I think it was an FW-01 or something like that, it had variable speed and went quite fast, nothing compared to todays RC cars.
Hi there! I'm trying to get into the hobby I'd like to go with an electric rc ready to go. I want a on road and off road with speed at least 35mph. My budget it's around 200 bucks. Any recommendations? Thank you
I just picked up an Eachine EAT04 for $120 at Banggood. Brushless and RTR, it's the same as a Feiyue FY03, only, umm, blacker? Kidding aside, just received it today and am beside myself with the value for money on this purchase. She's a real looker and performer, and my next FPV platform. www.banggood.com/Eachine-EAT04-1-or-12-2_4G-4WD-RC-Car-Metal-Body-Shell-Desert-Off-road-Truck-7_4V-1500mAH-RTR-Toy-Black-p-1611391.html
Are there some full kits to build yourself out there? I want to build my own first RC, but chosing parts isn't something I am comfortable to do. Any suggestions welcome!
Can I say from my own experience recently. I have use rc crawlers loads and deside to go big and get a Brushless ftx carnage...... Er first time out nearly distroyed it. Too big and too fast. I suggest go small go cheep have a blast 😊. Watch some jump videos first😅
You could always save even if it's VERY slow a dollar a day is still something and at the end of the year you could get a pretty good rc for that 365 $

My very first hobby grade RC car is a Tamiya hornet, proud of it for having everything ready to go! good video!
As someone who is buying his first RC - this was a huge help, thanks. :)
No problem :)
Thank u for your effort and many valuable info in your videos 😊me and my 7 y old daughter just purchased our first rc-car the Arrma granite grom mega 4wd. We love it 😊
Very welcome 🥰
My first rc was the Tamiya Monster Beetle back in the 90's. I still have it :)
MY first RC was the 14401 beacause i watched you video and decided. So thank you man great video for people like me who struggle to work out what to buy when i was looking. Keep up the good work. Thanks
No problem this is exactly why i decided to make this video and i hope it helps others to! Thanks 👍😎
it broke the first day. multiple parts.
Been thinking about getting into the hobby. This video was a great help. Thank you!
Glad I could help!
Stay safe!
@@beyondRC I think the saying is, The UK and USA are 2 countries separated by a common language. : )
@@rickrogers2649 Absolutely :)
Thank you - wish I'd seen this before I bought my RB10, but at least I'm enjoying it already.
i got my first rc car on christmas and it was a traxxas (latrax) teton and it’s the most fun, i’ve had to upgrade to aluminum control arms because i snapped them with my brother
I am thinking of getting a small, simple little rc car that works in moreso smaller spaces. Just to get in the hobby. This video helps a lot. Thanks.
Go for it!
@@beyondRC Well, thanks for the encouraging and hopeful words. Hope to see more videos from you soon.
get the baron it's great!
Assure from stuff when I was a kid, my first hobby grade care was a 1/16 Traxxas Slash. Now I have a Rustler VXL 4x4 and Bandit converted to a Rustler 2wd brushless conversion. Want to go bigger for ground clearance!
What about a mini maxx 🤔👍
@@beyondRC been thinking of that, would like to see a comparison with the Rustler I know I get the clearance, but I'm think size would still be similar.
My first car was a tamiya hornet my 2nd was a RC10 and then the 3rd was a 10L and yes I still have all 3, now that I have more time iam getting back in to RC’S
Thank you for the videos this will help me get caught up to modern times ha ha.

@@nelsonmarques1334 great times 👍😃
Always thought 1/10 RTR electric buggy/rally car is best to start with. 1/10 is a nice size and you can run a buggy anywhere. I went through a period of having nothing but touring cars great fun didn't have anywhere to use them then lost interest for a few years. Now have a mix still got nowhere to run touring cars but I got a golf course for buggy bashing.
a 1/10 RTR is definitely a good way to go in regards to size and being able to run it anywhere. I have never really got into the touring car stuff as you are limited to car parks or track. With off road RC you can go anywhere.
I want to buy a car 😔
I was looking for something to share with a friend who is interested after seeing my cars. I am sharing this with him - it's a great overview of RC cars and will help any newcomers to get headed in the best direction
Glad it was helpful!
My first RC was a wltoys 144001. Still rocking that speedy boy and am now waiting for my Wpl C24 to arrive
Amazing first RC and one i recommend all the time. its a great price and very versatile

Hei my first Rc kit Tamiya Striker 2wd
Love that Car
Best gift ever, for a little Boys And bigger Man/Boys.Thanks for nice video about Nice stuff.
_watching_
Ok, great points, BRC, but I would like to add one for someone with similar concerns to my own.
This is the best beginner video out there great job thanks for the help
You are very welcome 😎👍
12 years ago I got a new bright reaper rc car still have it the rear axle broke so I am take the internals and adding the to my rock runner because that one's front motor stripped out so with me luck
For a beginner, EVEN IF your RTR Vehicle of choice comes with a Nickel Medal battery and charger, I'd HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU BUY A LIPO BATTERY AND CHARGER AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE when you buy the vehicle.
You WILL want a LIPO and decent charger, I GUARANTEE it.
i've been into RC as a child, ever since i saw my friend's dad's gas powered rc bolt down my street. now i'm old enough to buy myself these awesome toys. my first RC is th hbx 16889 brushed, 2nd is a arrma granite 4x4 mega. and i'm loving both, trying to break it all ready so i can fix and upgrade.
i love the 16889 it is one of the most durable RC's i have used for such a small monster! Good luck breaking them LOL
My 1st RC car was a Tamiya March BMW, 380 motor 6volt NiCad battery ex demo. Had to buy a radio transmission licence. Would have been around 1979.
My first to build is a 1989 Schumacher Cat XLS.....still got it, still driving it
I loved RC as a child but we didn't have a lot of money and in those days majority were really expensive.

@@bradmenday3843 Totally, the likes of Ricky and Phil over at TomleyRC are my goto channels as they cover a wider variety than say Kev Talbot.
Its a great hobby but gets expensive very quick!
My first rc was a redcat blackout sc
I love it some much

Will I get the 6s or the Mega brushed and build it up as I like?

Thats the problem with nitro they are very appealing but the tuning is a massive pain especially for people new to the hobby. Electric RC is the way to go these days! If you get the mega brushed it will be fine to convert to a 3s system at a later date. The 6S is just an animal! No worries man!

Im going to buy a tamiya mo6 alfa romeo sprint does anyone have any recommendations on what esc and lipo to use?

I am going to buy my first RC car and it is going to be SG 1603 I think I get it right
Aye that car was named after me lol
Nice and informative video but I think you fell short on the NiMH information
LiPO's should never be fully discharged, you will kill them, as soon as the power starts to fade change it out immediately, and for storage they should be charged around 50% for long term storage (1 month+)
Full discharged before charging an NiMH? all of my NiMH battery brands (7 of them) all say something similar to this (It is significantly better for NimH batteries NOT to discharge them fully before recharging them or Don’t regularly discharge your batteries completely in an attempt to make them last longer.

You could always save even if it's VERY slow a dollar a day is still something and at the end of the year you could get a pretty good rc for that 365 $
