    Thing is, had he actually figured out how to blow up the wall...he was playing on Easy Mode, which is one of the most messed up things in this game. Shortly after this part, if you're on Easy, the game STOPS and says since you're on easy you aren't allowed to play anymore, and if you want to play the whole game, start THE WHOLE THING OVER on Normal. And this is about the halfway point. Now, I would have loved to see the nerd rage if he saw THAT.

      @AriaDiMezzo 9 лет назад +3

      +IvoryInDaHouse No, it doesn't... Final Fantasy VI has the best SNES soundtrack. I'd say it's the best video game soundtrack at all. Castlevania IV has a few good pieces--Stage 3-2 consistently gets overlooked. But no other SNES game has the variety, technical brilliance, and beauty as the music of FF6. Even two decades later, Celes' Song is likely to bring tears to my eyes as I recall Cid's death and her suicide attempt. No other game has ever come close to the music of FF6, and definitely not Castlevania. It's good, but "best" doesn't belong in the same sentence as Castlevania IV. Contra III's is pretty solid, too, and I agree it's better than Castlevania IV's, but... still nowhere near the best.
      Of course, we're discussing opinion, so that's just mine.

    The title title screen intro scared the fucking shit out of me as a kid. Evil, cryptic music with ominous bass jazz.
    Oh no! It doesn't stop there! It get's fucking creepier as you the lightning flashes, the bats shadows fly, and it flashes to darkness to reveal a fucking gave with evil skies in the back, with even more ominous, nightmare fuel music in the back.
    The best Castlevania game of all time. Dark, creepy atmosphere. Brilliant soundtrack, solid mechanics.

      The one title screen that freaked the hell out of me when I was a kid was the start-up screen in Castlevania: Circle of the Moon for the Gameboy Advance which still creeps me out today. Like, holy fuck, the music is so haunting that it forced me to be unable to play it at night and it that was just the fucking start-up menu where you make your save file and the game hasn't even started! If you've never heard of it, look it up because it's pretty chilling

    2:44 The ability to flick the whip is actually extremely useful in a lot of ways - the limp whip can deal damage, so you can simply move it around and have it hit things all over the place.
    It can even block Death's sickles if you hold it up in the air.

    To everyone who thinks that nerd couldn't blow up the wall on easy mode.
    That is not the case. There are 2 walls to blow up. One is near one of the items needed to make the explosive. Behind this wall is a switch/orb/thing that removes the white rune from the larger wall. After destroying this wall u can destroy the other. Behind it is another switch/orb/thing. Destroying this awakes the monster. If your on easy mode after KILLING the monster the game will tell u to play normal mode. BTW to use the items is left c arrow, like using switches.

    Castlevania 64 wasn't really that bad. My sisters and i had fun playing the game. Well, its because we played every game on the console at the time. The nitro part was tedious but once you figured it out you had it made. My pet peeve of this game were the platform stages. i liked the beginning and the maze in the garden getting chased by chainsaw Frankenstein. It sort of gave me the Resident Evil 2 feel when Tyrant would scare you shitless by breaking through a wall when its silent as fuck.

  • @lynchlychfeld

    Dear god I spent so much fucking time on the Castlevania N64 games. The only difference between the two versions is there was content cut from the first one that was jammed back in with lackluster enthusiasm to cash in on the franchise again. I beat both of them with all three characters. Not because I was deeply in love with the games. But because I bought them and I was going to fuck beat them. The Nitro level is the most obnoxious thing in the fucking world.

    Rondo of Blood on the PC Engine CD is really an incredible game and you would love it. The controls are much smoother than on the SNES version, it has actual good cutscenes and the sickest music of the entire series. It also had autosaves (in 1993!) and just great atmosphere. Like you I also prefer the linear Castlevanias over the mazey ones like SotN, and Rondo is definitely the best of those, or at least equally good as IV. Dracula X on the SNES really is a bad port.

    Legacy of Darkness was one of my favorite games. I would play it for days on end, I did not have a memory card so every time I turned off the console I had to restart from the beginning haha. I can see why James disliked it in comparison to how I saw it, he had a larger variety of games and has older consoles to compare it too. But for me, I had not played many games, and Legacy of Darkness was so cool, the music was okay, he says that it sucks but, it was more about ambience, music played its role in cutscenes. I loved how I could slay skeletons, then turn into a man beast n' pwn everything, I liked the Cornell's story, the song at 10:10 is an example of one of the songs that is memorable from the game, its not too savvy but its not bad either.
    I honestly feel like James over exaggerated with the N64 games flaws, the camera sometimes gave me problems like how he showed, but that was probably the only time I ever had those problems, the nitro was a pain to figure out what needed to be done with it, I don't remember having the problem he had at 11:10 ever. I can't believe he started over though, at least he shows alot of dedication towards his attempts at beating the game.

I don't know if its the colors or artwork, but I found it hard to make out what I was looking at. He seems like a heap of garbage. His armor is a big mess of gray and brown.
    Pause it at around 2:43 and compare to 5:42 (Dracula X game). In Dracula X, you can clearly discern his belt from his cloak from his arms. Whereas in CS 4, most of his torso looks like indiscernible armor lumps.
