The Works changed all of their art supplies a few months ago & it seems the quality of every single one has decreased 😭 Its such a shame after relying on them for over a decade. Their A5 sketchbooks had always meant so much to me 🧡
I am a very amateur watercolor painter, but the same exact thing happened to me once. I thought I had grabbed a piece of Arches paper...I had NOT. Took me most of the painting to realize that I was not the worst painter in the world and had not forgotten everything I once knew...I just had grabbed paper I hate!
Glad you caught it in time and didn't scrap the project, it's so cute ❤ the difference was so big though, why would they change their formula in such a big way
You still did such an amazing job! I love how cute it is 🥰 The colors ended up so awesome, and I’m thankful you were able to figure out the paint issue!! 🙏🏻👏🏻 Hopefully it’ll help give you all your confidence back and you’ll have many more paintings to come! 🥳🥳
That’s such a shame to hear that your ol’ faithful paint has changed and not for the better. It would have been a disaster to discover that at the Van Gogh event, for sure! The painting turned out so cute in the end. Love this seasonal painting theme idea!❤
I’m glad you figured out the issue, it sucks when things change sometimes. But who knows maybe it’s an opportunity for something better to come into your life. Love your videos 🥰. Happy New Year!
Does anyone else like the video towards the beginning and then by the end you try to hit the like button again only to accidentally unlike the video? 😅 and have to like it a third time...or is that just me. ...I've abandoned a painting for this exact reason!! Needed too many layers. I never knew that a translucent white mixed in would affect the painting so much. So glad you made a video on this, maybe there's still hope for my painting.
its bene a long long time since i seen one of your videos i used to watch them like religiously XD i'm so happy your still making videos!! but i have to ask are you alright? it looks like you lost some weight since the last few years i've watched your videos and i'm worried a little bit. i know its none of my business and that it might come off as rude. but i just a bit concerned i hope your keeping healthy and i love all your content and i'm happy i decided to look you up again.! me and my ex husband used to watch your videos at home all the time because i am an artist myself. we found it really comforting and we loved hearing about your kitty and some of your struggles in life. over the years. i just thought you should know that i am one of your fans who truly cares about you and wishes you the best and healthiest life. although i missed out on a few years of your content i'm going to start catching up.
People have been telling her this for a while. Unfortunately people with anorexia usually dont listen until they almost die.. its heartbreaking but all we can do is hope she gets help before its too late.
When I was young I loved Toaster Scramblers but 1 day I took a bite and immediately spit it out I then analyzed the ingredients on the back of the old and new boxes and the ingredients were Indeed changed.
This is something I need to keep in mind as well, I end up putting in so much more effort and getting burnt out for a project that ends with a product I’m not even happy with 😭
I'm a graphic designer and I feel your pain! I use a lot of sticker paper for my job and I have my trusted brands but they seem to change the paper sometimes so that the print isn't as vibrant or I have to alter the settings on my printer for a better print or the colours look different. Often times no one else notices but I do
I accidentally stocked up on the old formula of the works white paint ages ago and had no idea about this! I’m on my last tube now so will have to find another brand to buy from!
I don't care if I'm first ... I'm here for bananajamana! I absolutely love your videos and the only RUclipsr I immediately click on when I see it. Have you done drawing painting tutorials in the past? Because I want to see more of those ! I'm fixing up my 3dsxl and getting back into at academy lessons for everyone. I missed out on the add Ons when they closed eShop. And would love to use yours instead ❤
QUESTION: why dont you use a larger brush for varnishing? Just curious if you had a reason or its just preference. Loved the piece, and I hate when they change things and dont write it on the product. Looking at you prismacolor pencils -_-
It feels like every brand of everything is changing formulas/ingredients without saying so in the hopes of higher profits figuring people won't notice, will notice but bother changing, or wont be able to afford trying other brands. That in top of increased pricing and many brands shrinkflation I have an ever growing list of things I wish Id gotten a surplous supply of a few years back.
You seem to be underweight and im worried you might be malnourished. I dont mean to pry, i just hope youre ok and that you dont continue to loose any weight. Please take good care of yourself and i wish you only the best❤️
Unfortunately many people have been mentioning this for a long time. People with anorexia just wont listen and Jamie is no different. They usually have to almost die to want to change. So heartbreaking. All we can do is hope she gets help before its too late.
The Michaels brand Craft Smart has also been changing some of their craft paint colors. The brown (like that’s the name of the color) and olive green are now soooooo transparent. Doesn’t matter how many coats you use, they will look splotchy. Too bad.
It's so disappointing when companies make big changes and don't think to tell their consumer base about it as if it wouldn't affect them 😭 Likely because they're cutting corners and were just hoping people wouldn't notice ..
have you ever tried natural paints? ive seen a lot of paints made from natural ingredients and also plastic free packaging , would love to try them myself but arent able to yet, and wondered if you had used other mediums ? 😄
So I'm taking this as my sign to finally invest in the pricier products instead of complaining about my "skills" all the time even when I know I'm right. Welp thanks 😂❤
I hate when companies change formulas to products you've used for years. If they want to "improve" it, then make a "new and improved" version but leave the original alone and let the consumer make the choice of what to use. I will literally stop using a brand completely if they change something I've liked and been using for years. I like consistency and I'm a creature of habit. Years ago, I mean years and years, I think late 90s there was a paint brand I loved and used. It was inexpensive. It was thick and typically covered what I needed in one pass. But then I think it was early 2000's they changed and the paint was thin and I think if I recall correctly, one small tube which I typically could use for maybe 5-6 paintings (obviously depending on what the subject was), but after the change, it took the whole tube to get the coverage I needed. (I was lucky enough to be painting a series, it was a landscape with trees. I had done 3 paintings with an "old" tube and the 4th painting took one whole tube.) I can't remember the brand and I don't live in that city anymore to go to that art supply shop to see if they still have it/if it would jog my memory and I no longer have the paintings (they were a gift. But back then [I've gotten lazy now a days] I used to write what paint brands I use and the exact colours and brushes, just in case any touch ups were ever needed. Luckily, they never were. But I think I might start recording that information on the back of my paintings again.] Anywho, despite your struggles, I'm glad you realized it wasn't you and your painting came out lovely. Have a creative, healthy and happy 2024.
I did custom and production painting with acrylics for a studio and every so often the paint would radically change texture and color. It was so frustrating! Cheap Chinese paint factory inconsistency.
You should complain the company by changing the formula is cheapening out on the ingredients and adding the gloss is making it harder on best results finishing artwork. The former formula was the best. They should stick with that.
a good artist don't overestimate their own skill, but knows them well enough to know when the tools are the problem, blame the tools, not the artist and sharpen your damn chisel, work smarter not harder, art is already a time consuming process, no need to add 9 layers of paint or a big hammer. Society telling us to blame ourselves, only applies to people just trying something out for the first time, because yeah, most beginners should rarely blame their tools, because they haven't developed the skill yet and societally it makes sense, they tried to push everyone down, because most people don't stick with anything, so they always beginners and "you're not better than me Rrreeeee.".
So so so many companies have decreased their quality..... I am SO MAD about it. Even if I have to pay a bit more I want the OPTION to buy the higher quality item
The Works changed all of their art supplies a few months ago & it seems the quality of every single one has decreased 😭 Its such a shame after relying on them for over a decade. Their A5 sketchbooks had always meant so much to me 🧡
OMG yes. I loved those A5 books too and I went there the other day and its all black, white or grey and oh so boring as well
It’s so disconcerting when a beloved product one has relied on for years suddenly changes.
Oh man I was looking in there for a sketch book and wondered why I couldnt find it!
I am a very amateur watercolor painter, but the same exact thing happened to me once. I thought I had grabbed a piece of Arches paper...I had NOT. WOW, I first subscribed to your channel when you had 2000 subs and I haven’t checked back on it in like 2 years. Glad to see how far you’ve come!!
I really like this format of videos from you. Best wishes for the new year everyone!
Glad you could figure that out! 💖 They should have advertised that it's a new formula!

What an adorable painting! What I would give to have one of me and my doggo! Wow!
So cute. Your art brings happiness. Glad you figured the issue out.
I’m glad you figured out the issue, it sucks when things change sometimes. But who knows maybe it’s an opportunity for something better to come into your life. Love your videos 🥰. Happy New Year!
The painting turned out so good! I love how big Kirito is :D
Your painting is adorable! I’m glad you figured out the real problem, although it’s too bad that they changed their formula.
Does anyone else like the video towards the beginning and then by the end you try to hit the like button again only to accidentally unlike the video? 😅 and have to like it a third time...or is that just me.

Ugh, it's so annoying when that happens! The painting turned out really cute, though. Hope you and Tom had a nice holiday! 💕
Happy New Year, Jamie!
Happy new year, sweet Jamie!
Bruh I’ve never been this early… I’ve been watching you for YEARS… Thank you for always being so positively amazing 😭💕💕💕
Usually, when a brand changes something, they'll label it very clearly "new and improved formula" or something... The fact that they didn't is diirty.
wow its amazing how much the quality of the paint affects the painting process 😮
ah so glad it turned out well for u!!
Haha great to know that sometimes it’s the supplies fault 🤗. I use that graduate white paint, it’s good - thanks for the video

Wow I love that painting ❤
It turned out so cute!
Maravilhosa e BORA, 2024!!!!
This is so valid, Its wonderful 😊😊
Yay Jamuary!
I would say that the end result shows you can still paint ;) Here's to a wonderful 2024 🥂

Finding the right materials is so hard 😭 lots of trial and error. Sorry your brands change on you too 💕
@@JamieJo Yes exactly! It all comes with experience. Thanks for the reply. Love your videos! 😊💕
8 layers my goodness! I would not have such patience to do 8 layers!
Is that a painting of you and Kirito? It’s cute. Would love to see the other seasons as you paint them.
In the video she said that yes, it’s her and her kitty :)))
@@agnieszkacz_ Must’ve missed that - silly me.
