It's a little bit funny, and completely fitting, that a lot of people will learn how to play Hanafuda from a Nintendo Switch game -- after all, Hanafuda was the first game Nintendo ever made.
Hanafuda isn't a game, it's just Japanese playing cards. The game is Koi-Koi.
@@kruks Strictly speaking, 'Hanafuda' can refer to both the cards themselves ('flower cards', and all that) and the games one can play with those cards -- Hanafuda Koi-Koi isn't the only game that can be played, although it's probably the most well-known outside of Japan.

@@Waddley39 I'd wager a lot of people haven't, at least outside of Japan -- even though you can still buy Hanafuda decks from Nintendo, the printed instructions don't come with a translation, so you'll still need to find someplace else to learn how to play if you can't read kanji. (Pity they weren't printed in katakana -- _that_ I _can_ read.)

Felt more like DS to me, the DS had bucket loads of these tabletop bundle games bc of the touch screen
This game is actually a sequel to the DS version of Clubhouse Games, which had 42 games compared to this version’s 51.

This is the kind of game I wished it was released now especially with the circumstances nowadays.
I've rewatched this trailer so many times now. The original DS game was my absolute jam, and it was amazing to play with others.

YES!! I loved Club House Games on the DS and ironically enough I was just playing it the other day! This looks awesome! There's actual physics in billiards now! Please have 8 Ball pool and not just 9 ball!
I’m so excited for this one!!! I had the DS game and it taught me Hanafuda/Koi-Koi. For sure picking it up!
This is honestly the best thing they announced in the direct mini, new game wise. I just wish it wasn't that pricy. Looks like so much fun and I think a lot of people could use a game like this especially right now
it's $40 which makes it less than a dollar per game, not really that pricy

"Four-in-a-row" is an actual game name that describes games like Connect Four, so it's more like using a broader term because the more popular name is copyrighted.

The even more baffling thing about this is that the name indicates this is actually a followup title (sequel?) to a forgotten DS game that came out over a decade ago.
What a weird way to try and bring in the hyper-casual audience. You'd think they'd want to try and tie it to Wii Sports or Wii Play somehow given that those games have way more brand recognition.
I guess its worth considering that the Switch is more portable and accessible to co-op play now than the DS.
I also think its a pretty neat way to have a bunch of traditional board and card games in one big package to play with family and/or friends.

I've been waiting for a followup to 42 all time classics since playing the first one, this was the most unexpected announcement and I lost it when I saw it, best announcement out of the whole direct for me, and while I get where you're coming from, they wouldn't want to label a game "wii..." in the same way they didn't name 1 2 switch "wii party 2: head 2 head" or something along those lines because it isn't on the wii.

Also arms has an option to be played without motion controls.

I held onto my original Clubhouse Games DS game. Multiplayer was the BEST on that thing to this day. So happy its getting a sequel!

I played this demo and I'm liking it more than I ever expected to.
I really hope they have more unlockable games or add extra games. I remember playing Bullshit/I doubt it, balance, and the soda shake game in class a lot with classmates. The soda shake game would be perfect for the switch's HD rumble.
My family is over the moon about club house games. We would always play the ds game on long car rides, and we would use the chat room to mess with eachother during our turns in pig or after king of the hill. Those are my fondest memories of childhood and seeing it's now on the switch I'm getting nostalgic all over again.
