You just saved tons of people from headaches, broke parts, and god knows whatever else will happen when trying to figure out what you have done. Thank you!!
1:58 into your video is what I wasn't aware of. I've been screwing with a similar under seat plug for over a week. Once you showed how the bottom of that connector comes apart, I was finally able to get the wire out of the plug. Thank you very much.
jason, just stumbled across your video, thanks so much for info, didn't have to deal with crappy background music,or 30min vid with a bunch of nonsense, thanks brother, happy riding
You are the only one out of thousands of videos that actually explained and showed this. I Did It!!!! I could give you a big smooch right now. Thank you thank you sir! 😘👏👏🙌🤘
Well you saved my husband a ton of headaches and myself cause it’s my bike he is working on. He would rather be doing anything else than putting on my new handlebars. Thank you very much
Thankyou for your video explaining how to remove those wires. Like yourself I couldn't find any video how to do this and have spent 2 days scratching my head on how it comes apart. Thankyou again.
Thanks for this video Jason. I have 14” ape hangers and an extension kit for my sportster 1200 on the way to me so I will definitely be using your method here!
Holy crap man! I spent like 4 hours trying to figure out how that works I had my tank off handle bars off everything and I could not figure out how those wires pop off and I couldn’t find anything on that. Until I finally found your vid! I’m going to try again and replace my handle bars!
I want to try and extend the wires on my new Rebel 1100 for the same reason; higher bars. Your video will help me a lot if I run into the same type of connections. Thanks a bunch.
@jason byers -- You are my freakin` HERO! I have been dealing with faulty wiring on my 08 FXSTC. This video is a troubleshooting masterpiece. THANK YOU for sharing your knowledge with the rest of the two wheeled world. Amen, brother.
Holy shit bro bless your soul. These connectors had me STRESSED trying to swap my T bars. Thank you so much brother I appreciate it more than you know! 🍻
This was so helpful. I thought they wanted me to stick the extension in the plug it’s self. I was so confused as to why they would do that because it was so bulky. Never crossed my mind to take it apart lol
Legend mate. Im doing the exact same thing and i thought there is no way no one will have a video on youtube. I was wrong. Thank you mate saves me cutting wires 😂
I am so glad that I found your video I’ve been trying to get my wires out of these similar plugs in your video for probably an hour now did not find anything telling me about that white piece inside being a locking mechanism. Lol I watched your video watched it again as I did it on my plug wire came right out. I just wanted to tell you thank you so much for making the video because who knows how long it would’ve taken me to figure that out. Lol definitely gonna share this knowledge with other people
SHIT! I got so frustrated I took my harness to harley. They wouldnt show or tell me how to do it but were more than happy to charge me $70.00 to do it. That was 2 days ago before I found your video. Now im trying to get my harness though my new 12" meat hook apes.
There is a tool for removal of the wire connector pins from Molex connectors but they are rather expensive. I use a #1 paper clip in the small hole just above the connector pin. Then you will hear a click and the pin will come right out. Nice video. Thanks.
It's in the repair manual. There is actually special tool called "molex pin release tool" that you stick in that little hole on top of the pin hole in the front. But tiny screwdriver works too, or paper clip.
And off course I’ve found your video right at the moment I bolted and screwed my fucking Dyna back together after fiddling with this Deutsch connector for two evenings in a row. Lol! Thanks buddy. Gonna try it again soon and finally change my handlebars.
So putting the cables back on to it, do they just snap in? And do they have to be in the same order you took them out? I’m replacing my bars on my sportster cause someone hit it in a parking lot and it’s my first time ever doing bars with internal wiring.
Sorry for the late reply! Yes, be sure to take pictures of where the wires are...they need to be put back in the same order. Test it BEFORE you tie everything back up and screw the cover plates on. It's a hassle when you get two wires in the wrong spot! And yes, the wire heads snap back into the plastic piece inside the harness. Hope this helps, man!
Dude. THANK YOU! Swapping bars on a 95 Dyna.. Same height and sweep, but going from Beach to Drag bars. (Wires Through the bars). Not rocket science, ...but brain surgery. Lol.. I swear, ...They almost engineer this stuff to drive one batshit. Anyway Cheers! Thanks again and Stay well out there!
Excellent, but you don't need to disassemble the back of the connector, just lift the latch and insert a thin paper clip into the corresponding hole, and that's it, the wire is free. We have an extension brand in Brazil called Pandilla Cables, their kits include a tool and an instruction manual.
You just saved tons of people from headaches, broke parts, and god knows whatever else will happen when trying to figure out what you have done. Thank you!!
You are an American hero buddy! Out here doing the Lord’s work!

I'm HONORED that you commented!!! My friends and I swear by your safety vids. Thank you, sir!

Thanks for this video Jason. I have 14” ape hangers and an extension kit for my sportster 1200 on the way to me so I will definitely be using your method here!
