Oh Donna, I almost ALWAYS use "SEW AND HOPE!" it made me laugh. I use the "Pray and try not to swear," method too.
I'm a fairly new quilter, and absolutely LOVE YOUR EXPLANATION & DEMONSTRATION techniques. You are so organized and very easily understood. I wish all my quilting adventures were done by you. YOU are Amazing! And I love that you always include Matt, and his excellent cutting ✂️. If I had a better cutter, ( me) my life would be easier. I'm working on it.
Thank you again, for sharing this with us. Bless you and yours.💖🍀🙏🤗

Hi Donna, I always love the quilt patterns that you choose for your tutorials and the fact that you like picking fabrics that are very different than the ones on the pattern cover. In this way you are effectively layering our learning experience with many different kinds of insights, techniques, and best practises. I am glad you compared your finished quilt with those of the same design and photographed on the pattern's cover. In this lesson, there were more different kinds of blocks used in the quilt but because of the process followed even I, as a beginner, am not intimated by this prospect. Also, I really appreciate the lesson on color demonstrated when comparing the finished looks between the two quilts, in terms of intensity of contrast between the background fabrics used and the picket block fabrics. Ultimately, I think everyone would agree both versions are beautiful and the individual preference chosen will depend upon which factors in the color coordination and the overall finished look appeal most to the person for whom the quilt is made. So many choices and possibilities makes the entire creative process so fun and rewarding. Thank you so much! Sincerely, Anita

Oh, my! I love the outcome, knew that Donna would do her usual impeccable job and got the willies with the cutting of the blocks with the varying sizes. That’s just how my brain reacts to these sorts of things. For me, making the eventual triangles would be so daunting that it wouldn’t be worth it. Could I? Yep. But it just wouldn’t be any kind of fun.
But I truly enjoyed watching Donna work her way through this pattern. Her precise cutting skills and sense of organization were especially important with this pattern. And her comments at the end were on point and interesting.
Another very satisfying video from Team Jordan! Thank you.

I love Robin Pickens patterns. I am going to make (hopefully) the Bird Talk quilt for my mom's birthday in October. This one is also very pretty but I can't stand the waste. I'm left wondering if it wouldn't be better to make a full square to start with. The corners that are cut off would then still be usable and would probably even make an interesting scrap project...?

If you sew seams parallel to and 1/2” away from the seams on the corner squares (1st step), then cut between the two seams, you will end up with small half square triangles for a future project (or in the borders or back of this quilt) rather than just triangle scraps.
