"Sew and hope"...? That cracked me up!! Donna, that's what us amateurs do!! Your method is "Sew and know"!! Thank you for sharing this pattern and your humor!!
I would have loved to see this made where the pickets matched the fabric used in the adjoining block to create crosses extending into the border. Very pretty pattern!
Thank you for the wonderful tutorials💝🦋This quilt is so pretty! But, it looks a bit difficult. Hopefully, if I follow your instructions, less difficult. And I will have sewn a gorgeous quilt! Has anyone sewn this yet?
Love the colors you chose. I'll never be able to make all the quilts I have on my list if I keep adding to it, lol Thanks for the video Donna, and also Thanks to your Son for his excellent camera work. 🎥
I agree! I wish Donna could explain how to sew all the quilts we all want to make lol!! I've NEVER seen anyone who explains the making of a quilt like her. We appreciate you Donna!! And your son as well. Never seen any quilting videos with the expertise that he has! One talented family!
Oh, my! I love the outcome, knew that Donna would do her usual impeccable job and got the willies with the cutting of the blocks with the varying sizes. That’s just how my brain reacts to these sorts of things. For me, making the eventual triangles would be so daunting that it wouldn’t be worth it. Could I? Yep. But it just wouldn’t be any kind of fun. But I truly enjoyed watching Donna work her way through this pattern. Her precise cutting skills and sense of organization were especially important with this pattern. And her comments at the end were on point and interesting. Another very satisfying video from Team Jordan! Thank you.
Matt is an absolute artist in the way that he puts colours together in combinations that would never have occurred to me. And you are the perfect tutor, Donna. Shout out, too, to your son behind the camera!
You always make the most beautiful quilts. This got me to thinking that a picket fence (without a gate) may end the problems I have been having with a new neighbor. I have happy memories of a white washed picket fence. Thank you for this video.
Love you Jordan Fabrics! PLEASE listen to this video and you'll find it so difficult to hear Donna's dialogue. Can you fix this problem for your many fans? It happens quite often. Thanks for all you do to help the QUILTER'S around the globe!
I don’t know why I am always surprised how beautiful her color choices are. Sometimes I think what is she thinking and bam her quilts are stupendous! A true genius at colors and patterns. Thanks again Donna and Matt
Hi Donna, I'm in the middle of making this quilt. I am so grateful for your tutorial as I find the instructions to be slightly confusing! This tutorial is making it so much easier for me! Thank you so much!!
Ooooh I LOVE IT! I’ve watched tons of tutorials and it just occurred to me this morning that I could NEVER, EVER do a video….most of the time when I’m piecing a quilt I’m either in my pajamas or just some comfy clothes (which means BRALESS) my hair looks crazy, and no makeup! You always look nice and put together, way to go Donna Jordan!
I can see how much fun you and Matt have working your business and sharing a passion. God Bless you both! My late husband used to cut for me... He was a sign maker and absolutely precise... It was wonderful hahaha unless we were hanging pictures!!! Great memories. When I saw this pattern I immediately thought... 'a field of sunflowers!!' Love it. Thank you for sharing!!!
Robin Pickens is a great designer of patterns as well as her color theory fabrics. I'm not a fan of 1/8th anything , however, the points match up so beautifully, it is a must to do proper cutting as any designer in any pattern has done the math for us. WTG Robin and TY Donna.
I also don't like cutting odd measurements, but that part of making the quilt only took a small amount of time. I put a piece of masking tape on my clear plastic ruler to help me find the size more quickly.
Hi Donna, I always love the quilt patterns that you choose for your tutorials and the fact that you like picking fabrics that are very different than the ones on the pattern cover. In this way you are effectively layering our learning experience with many different kinds of insights, techniques, and best practises. I am glad you compared your finished quilt with those of the same design and photographed on the pattern's cover. In this lesson, there were more different kinds of blocks used in the quilt but because of the process followed even I, as a beginner, am not intimated by this prospect. Also, I really appreciate the lesson on color demonstrated when comparing the finished looks between the two quilts, in terms of intensity of contrast between the background fabrics used and the picket block fabrics. Ultimately, I think everyone would agree both versions are beautiful and the individual preference chosen will depend upon which factors in the color coordination and the overall finished look appeal most to the person for whom the quilt is made. So many choices and possibilities makes the entire creative process so fun and rewarding. Thank you so much! Sincerely, Anita
Oh Happy morning to all of us!! Beautiful colors and pattern. Love everything about this pattern. Thank you for all your tutorials and explanations to learn. I’m always Inspired by all your tutorials. When I get stuck , I come back to your tutorials.
I got a jolt when you did that first cut across the patchwork (measuring from the 4.5" line on the ruler) -- I never saw that coming! But the block finally made perfect sense to me, so I'm very pleased to have learned a new piecing/trimming technique! Wonderful design, and not a jelly roll in sight! 😊 Thank you so much for sharing your expertise! This is one of the most visually pleasing quilts I've watched you make! 😺💕🐾
Oh Donna, I almost ALWAYS use "SEW AND HOPE!" it made me laugh. I use the "Pray and try not to swear," method too. I'm a fairly new quilter, and absolutely LOVE YOUR EXPLANATION & DEMONSTRATION techniques. You are so organized and very easily understood. I wish all my quilting adventures were done by you. YOU are Amazing! And I love that you always include Matt, and his excellent cutting ✂️. If I had a better cutter, ( me) my life would be easier. I'm working on it. Thank you again, for sharing this with us. Bless you and yours.💖🍀🙏🤗
Hands down one of my favorite quilts. Love the pattern and the colors are my style. Stunning piece of work. I was unsure of the darker thread but thank goodness I left it up to you. LOL Love how the quilting shows a little in the patchwork and beautifully in the pickets. Thank you Donna and crew for another stellular video.
"Sew and hope"...? That cracked me up!! Donna, that's what us amateurs do!! Your method is "Sew and know"!! Thank you for sharing this pattern and your humor!!
Used this pattern, without the picket border, to make a quilt for my Aussie son-in-law, using Aboriginal patterned fabrics.
Hi Donna! Ok, I had to laugh when you said you use "the sew & hope method"!!!! Don't we all at some point?? 🤣🤣
Beautiful quilt and so different.

Hi Donna, your tutorials are wonderful! At first glance, when I looked at this quilt I saw sunflowers. It would be wonderful in Autumn colors!
I was initially worried about your color choices. But I really like the result! Very nice!!!
I wasn't sure about the waste in fabric, but when it was all put together, that quilt turned out beautifully.
Love your video tutorials.i take the quilt to chemotherapy that you sent 3 years ago. Thank you.
I'm doing chemotherapy right now, I take a minky cat blanket so I'm cozy, hospitals are so cold.
