    If Sirui reads comments and sees this, I really hope they stick to it. A few more years of development and they will have some awesome budget cinema lenses, which are very needed!

    Great review. Can't wait for your yongnuo 11 f1.8 review.

    I do admit, I liked the style those lenses create in video recording. I'd never buy them as photography lenses, though. A big plus of them you didn't mention, however, they are a bit smaller and a lot lighter than their Viltrox equivalent. Sniper at 380g and 92mm vs. Viltrox 670g and 101mm.

    For the first lenses series,
    Sirui should start with F1.8 because it's easier to design and cheaper to sell. Now it get compared with top brands like Sigma and Viltrox because Sirui is not exactly cheap. I prefer a sharper F1.4 or F1.8 over this.

    Wow. What a shame. I really like the style of the lens, but when older Sigma's are so much better for cheaper, no thanks.

    The review I was waiting for. Love my Sigma 16mm on my ZV-E10. Was hoping to snag the Sirui for my Nikon Z30 to save $200 on the Z Mount Sigma 16, but that would be doing a disservice after seeing this. Hoping Yongnuo does a Z Mount 16mm F1.8 for Z Mount with how impressive the E mount version is under $300.

    Great review. There’s been a lot of paid ads with this set. I was suspicious. Thanks for sharing your findings.

    I really wanted to love the 56mm lens for my Nikon, but it was just too soft wide open for me. I'm hoping they can get the sharpness right in another updated model.

    I was waiting for this test. The lenses themselves look absolutely amazing, but the image is far from perfect, I thought it would be a good competition for the Viltrox 75mm f1.2, but there is a BIG gap between them so the title of the video should be: Sirui Sniper 16mm + 75mm AF F1.2 Review - no, no ... and NO !

    Thanks for the interesting review! Sirui makes good value-for-money tripods, and have been doing so for years. Optics however is quite new for them, and it makes me wonder whether they design and manufacture these themselves, or whether they just use their brand name to bring generic lenses to the market to make a quick buck.
    These lenses usually have very limited resale value, and are not very good investments, unless a certain lens line gets traction for their quality. This is a bit different from Viltrox, for who lenses really seems their core business.
    I have a few Sirui tripods and heads, those I can recommend as they have served me well for years so far.

    Nice. Viltrox 75 1.2 looks great. 16mm sniper is hard to replace tho, no wide f1.2 with AF.
    20mm 0.95 may be more interesting then, sadly it's manual one, but considering there is nothing to lose quality wise, might as well take it.

      16mm sniper hard to replace😅 i prefer superb f1.4 lens over crap f/1.2 lens. sigma 16mm waaaay better than sirui 16mm

    • @explodingheavens
      @explodingheavens День назад

      @YasinOzylmaz well, if you want more bokeh, better low light performance... it's f1.2 vs f1.4
      I got 20€ lens performing good enough, also some with very weak corners, but no AF.
      This one is way sharper than those, it's not useless, only not the best.
      Depends on needs...

    I think the comparison isn’t necessary here, because it’s more like apples to oranges. That soft look is just about perfect for skin tones. And when it comes to bokeh in videos; a good story and the bokeh is only something that professionals are going to look at. The only time I’m thinking about it is here, on RUclips, looking at reviews. What I noticed was a good video without the digital sharpness.

    They should've kept the filter size at the same 67mm, which makes the set look more professional.

    The teardrop bokeh is something that occurs with Sony's Electronic Front Curtain Shutter using very high shutter speeds, it won't happen if you turn that off or use another camera, it's not the fault of the lens. Otherwise, sounds a bit rough. The Sigma already is much softer than the Fuji 18mm, so by that standard the Sirui must be terrible (for photography, video is probably fine) Thought this would be a nice option for a niche focal length, but given it's also even slightly bigger than the Sigma, there's really not a lot to gain here. Hopefully Viltrox comes out with a 16 or 18mm 1.2-1.4 that can rival the Fuji, also in terms of size.

    • @im.js.17
      @im.js.17 18 дней назад

      I mean they do have the 13 mm 1.4 which (I'm pretty sure?) no other manufacturer makes. I also saw that viltrox is supposedly making another 1.2 lens to go along with there 27 mm and 75 mm lenses, so hopefully we see what that lens is soon!

    • @drchtct
      @drchtct 18 дней назад

      @@im.js.17 13 and 16 or 18 is completely different, their 13 is great though. I guess if they do another 1.2 it has to be a 50 or 16/18, the 13, 27, 75 trio covers the rest pretty well

    • @JJARCHIE
      @JJARCHIE 17 дней назад

      Wait the sig16 is softer than the fuji ?

    • @drchtct
      @drchtct 17 дней назад

      @@JJARCHIE yes, it’s also older and a third of the price, still a good deal overall, Fuji is smaller and optically excellent but you pay a big price for that, wish Viltrox would build sth similar for half the price 😅

    APSC bokeh on wide lens is not very attractive :(

    • @Edwin--
      @Edwin-- 13 дней назад +1

      Bokeh on wide lenses is rarely attractive, too much detail remains for nice bokeh. Even on the 15mm f1.4 for APS-C or the 24mm f1.4 GM for full-frame it is a bit so-so. Going wider is usually worse, not better.

    • @drchtct
      @drchtct День назад

      Bokeh quality has nothing to do with APSC or Fullframe., this will look exactly like a 24mm 1.8 fullframe lens. The teardrop effect is because of his electronic first curtain shutter setting, camera fault, not lens.
