The Longines HydroConquest collection welcomes rose and yellow PVD variations to complete this diver collection. Revisited in 2018, the models from this range assert the aesthetic and functional characteristics of diving watches. In its blue, grey, black and green versions, each timepiece asserts a streamlined design with a bezel featuring a ceramic insert in the same color as the dial.
We are also proud to have our partner Vontobel provide us with in-depth industry knowledge, featured in their latest "Swiss watch industry outlook". You can find it here: bit.ly/3mw6WEN
The green, black and blue variations are now available in two-tone steel and yellow PVD, while the grey, black and blue ones are available in steel and rose PVD versions. These sporty pieces are also available on a black, blue or green rubber strap. A great variety of hues and finishes is available for this collection, to suit the wrist of anyone seeking exploration, from the city to the underwater depths.
Taking inspiration from the world of water sports, HydroConquest watches are distinctive for their bold style, and they are designed to appeal to demanding athletes. Water-resistance to 300 meters, a unidirectional rotating bezel, a screw-down crown and case back, and a double security folding clasp with an integrated diving extension- piece are all features that accentuate the character of this collection.
With a grey, blue or black sunray dial or a matte green dial, each two-tone variation of the HydroConquest line is equipped with an exclusive self-winding movement (L888.5) featuring an anti-magnetic silicon balance-spring to guarantee high precision and a longer life span.

Longiness many watch snob wouldn't even wanna look at them but they don't know what they hv missed. They are one of the longest watch marker & they craft out many beautiful timepieces, they even hv their own in-hse at one point. Love they creation fir this 2-3yrs. Their finishing at this price point is seriously awesome. Great review again Alexander.
Thanks for sharing your passion with us! You are a real brand ambassador! 😉
Longines: If you want it all except rouining yourself.
So much history and quality pr dollar! And nowdays they are on the rampage! Love it
Longines undoubtedly builds the best watches in its segment. The dear competitors can at best watch and marvel. However, they can't do any better.
I love the grey and rose gold version. Really classy looking. The ceramic versions just look so much better and cleaner than the aluminium inserted, the numbers and markers a way neater and sharp.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us!
Very nice watches❤ Longines makes the best watch for the money by far!
I couldn’t agree more!
The green will certainly strike a few conversions..💚💚
I just love these watches! For the money, I don’t know how you beat it, one of my favorite watches
Longines offers value for the money, value that is hard to beat... Just compare what other brands offer for the same money or charge for what Longines offers... You will quickly know what to buy ....
Fantastic review, thank you!
Thank you, I am happy to read this!
I have the grey dial on bracelet with the ceramic bezel. You did a fantastic job of the review of this stunning watch. Now subscribed to your channel. It is truly a luxury watch at a very good price.
Welcome to Watchadvisor! Thanks for your kind feedback! Congratulations… May your HydroConquest always show you HAPPY seconds, minutes and hours …
I’m lucky enough to have a limited USA edition hydroconquest in PVD black. It is my everyday watch. I love it so much I’m considering a new two-tone. Longines is my favorite for many reasons. Great video as always!
Thanks for sharing ... May your limited USA edition always show you HAPPY seconds, minutes and hours!
The grey ceramic bezel looks surprisingly stunning (I'm not usually a fan of ceramic or grey)
That color is cool, does also look great without the rose PVD ...
I agree...
@@enlightenedidiot9552 Would be the ideal color for a future titanium version…
Hi Alex love the channel love the content you bring and very informative
We love your comment! Thanks for sharing!
I personally picked up the grey ceramic non two tone version after watching a few videos and reading a few articles on the reference. I have to say I’m impressed with the value this watch has and how striking they are in real life. Longines did a great job redesigning the dial layout, the sunray dials are amazing. Also, the watch is impressively thin for a 300m watch, on par with the previous generation cal 2500 Seamasters.
Thanks for sharing your personal impressions with us. Love it! That's IMHO the most useful feedback ...
@@WatchAdvisor You're very welcome, Alex. Great video, by the way! It's also great to see Longines have some fun with the different colours they offer in this model. It would be incredible to see a deep red version in stainless steel, similar to the Rado Captain Cook in red.
Matthias Breschan was the Rado-CEO before… I don’t think he is going to copy 1:1 what he did at Rado before…
The whole collection looks amazing Alexander and price is OK with a proved and reliable movement.
It is not only the calibre, it is the entire watch... the quality simply is astonishing... and the price incredible ...
Lomgines Mako? Nice watch. Good video. Thank you.
Our pleasure!
The white date wheel..matches and flows with the color used..Green date wheel might be good but without seeing it..
owner of the previous hydroconquest dual tone automatic the watch was spectacular...
i can not understand why i sold it, and here i am couple of months later looking to buy the new version of it!!!!
Did you decide yet which new one you will buy? Let me know if you have questions...
I think Longines design a unique diving piece not being an homage to any brands except the bracelet. So I will choose a rubber with a signature grey dial in two tone! (because of rose gold color, it emerge the grey tone to a whole another level!
I think white date window is perfect since It give balance of white tone from other number.
Thanks for sharing! Good choice 😉 ...
If you look at watches in that price segment, I do not know any other brand that offers as much. For some of the Longines around 2'000 to 3'000, other brands would easily ask for the double and offer less.
There is NO other brand in that segment offering more design & style & quality! Just compare any you want and you will see...
Yesterday I became my grey bicolor version. Very very beautiful. 😊👍
Congratulations! Bravo! May your HydroConquest always show you HAPPY seconds, minutes and hours ...
@@WatchAdvisor Thank You very much 🙏I am sure it will. 😊
The grey one with rubber strap it’s very nice looking
Would also be my choice 😉
Green and gold for me.
Ich freue mich das zu lesen! Der direkte Kontakt vor Ort ist mit nichts zu vergleichen ... Liebe Grüße von Wien nach Berlin ...
Longines is my favorite watch brand, but current Hydroconquest always put me off. The clasp is the biggest disappointment here, feeling cheap, and why they cannot add additional color variants (blue, grey...) for the boutique version ceramic dial (currently only green)? Hoping for the improvement
The watch is sold for only 1680 Euro ... there are no miracles ... but the clasp is not that bad... it is simple and not that sophisticated ...
@@WatchAdvisor Indeed it is good value, but we are seeing a much better clasp in Mido and Hamilton. Here it is very much out of the place, considering a good built dial and bracelet. Having said that, the boutique edition has a nice clasp on the rubber strap, just wish they can come out with blue ceramic dial. Credit to them anyhow, their Heritage and Spirit line is gorgeous though
I have the blue ceramic version (non two tone) and the hydroconquest face whilst quirky does look to me better on the wrist than many other divers I own. Finishing around the case back is disappointing with lots of sharp edges, particularly around the crown guards. Clasp operation another let down at this price point. The yellow two tone with blue face is next on my shopping list. No problem with the white date as to my eyes it helps to balance the overall look. The biggest problem to my eyes is the crown being matt which spoils the look . Still less flawed to me than the two tone alternatives.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us!
I have the version with the same black/green/gold colour way as the Zulu Time and love it. My only criticism would be the clasp which is quite hard to open. I have a Whale Shark Aquis which has a much better option at this price point.
Thanks for sharing! The clasp can be adjusted … it will open smoother then…
Hi. Just subscribed to your channel and was impressed by your review on the Longines HC which I’m considering. Would like to know your wrist size. Lug to lug of 50mm is a concern for me on this model. Thanks
By the way, My wrist size is 6.5 inches to 6.7 inches (on a warm day😅)
My wrist size is 17 cm… Welcome to WatchAdvisor! Thanks for sharing our passion!
Not my kind of watch but i guess for that price point you can't ask for much. On the other hand the Spirit line and the Avigation BigEye models are very very good. I could see my self wearing the black dial 3 hand Spirit model. Love those applied stars on the dial.
Tastes are different! 😉
@@WatchAdvisor indeed.
A great review as I’ve got my eye on the green version. Can you interchange between the bracelet and the rubber strap?
Yes, you can!
@@WatchAdvisor Fabulous thank you!
Longines are producing some really attractive watches these days, The quality has come right up and the designs are mostly spot on. A great review Alexander. As for the date colour I feel it might work as long as they kept the border. Personally a no date version would look better. For the price and the quality these pieces are hard to beat. Two tone is not really my preference right now but if was going to choose it would be the black and rose gold option.
Longines very much believes in the date indication... it took years to persuade them to not us it for the vintage pieces...
@@WatchAdvisor I love the vintage pieces from Longines, uncomplicated and classic. The Legend Diver would be my preferred option from Longines ahead of the HydroConquest.
Great review. While I think the new colour varieties are very good (the grey, in particular), I think this Hydroconquest is getting long in the tooth and needs a re-design. They are very much the product of 'value' Longines - a fair price for a good quality product. But, the competition is pulling ahead in quality and design. These are squarely up against the Aquis and Black Bay. Both those competitors are pushing their prices ahead of Longines, but their design and case/bracelet/dial quality is superior. The HC is slightly awkward: arabic to hour marker proportion is odd, the date window is too small and white, while the crown guards are heavy-handed and hour-hand is bizarre. A redesign could still undercut Oris and Tudor, while offering equal or better quality and a better movement. The dive watch sector is too important for Longines to offer up an awkward product. This watch would be my priority to sort if I were the new CEO!
I agree with you that Longines could redesign the HydroConquest and present the version 2.0 … But, tastes are different… and many do like the HQ as it is… Concerning the quality I totally disagree with you. What Longines offers in terms of calibres is far ahead of what Oris and Tudor are offering. Simply not comparable! Especially Oris using technical outdated calibres that are clearly inferior to those from Longines. In some details the competitors are better, but also more expensive… Considering the price of 1680 Euro of this diver there are certain limits what you can do… Longines focuses on movements and the all over case quality … the bracelet/strap could be better, yes…
Wow! Very nice video!!!
Will you be able to show us the latest BM Riviera?
Don't think so! No active contact too the brand in the moment ... Had incredible good relations to the last two CEOs - Alain Zimmermann and Geoffroy Lefebvre - but not to the actual one ... don't even know his name ...
@@WatchAdvisor thanks for your reply! No problem, we, customers, can live without... 😁😁 Again, very beautiful video, its the first time I like the Hydroconquest... 😁😁 What do you think about plated "gold" watches? I mean, how many years can stand a plated Longines before see the plated part loose the gold tone?
@@gianpakasa It is a PVD coating... should last for a while... that's at least what I saw over the years...
Gray on rubber for me.
Probably the best choice ...
It is a beautiful watch, I just wish the gold parts were solid or at least capped. Sure it would be another $1000 or $2000 more, but I would definitely buy.
PVD will degrade in all but the most delicate use.
I agree! Capped would be fine... The watch would be a bit more expensive, but would also raise the appreciation of the watch as a total ...
Pvd holds better than gold plating
The HC is certainly has high quality at this price point. However, I concur with the numerous comments regarding the oversize numerals which is putting me off buying one. Although it would be simple to redesign the numerals, it would impact on marketing and resale values of existing designs etc. It's a pity as it could have been such a perfect watch at the price.
Longines is listening to its clients and this “issue” is known… so expect design changes to come in the next generation of the HC …
Thanks for the reply. On second thoughts maybe this watch would look better without any dial numerals as we have enough numerals on the bezel. There must be some photo tool on the internet to allow someone to experiment with modifying dials?
I didn't really notice or it didn't bother me but now that I have read your comment the oversize numerals is actually very off putting.
There is something to be said for a diver/water resistant watch you are not afraid to use. I use a 25 year old Seamaster for kayaking. Why not a new watch that you aren't too precious with?
You can use these Hydrconquest in real life... the watches can take that!
With the tapered bracelet it has a rolexesque look now. Any idea what's the price afte discount on the ZrO2 dial variant?
The watches are sold for 1680 Euro including VAT here in Austria…
@@WatchAdvisor thanks, its half of what I paid for my seamaster 300. This quality at that price is a steal. I think swatch group is pushing longines to be the new omega in terms of quality and intents to push omega to the next tier.
@@jakal1591 That’s exactly what it is! Longines has reached the quality level of Omega before starting to get its watches Master Chronometer certified … Longines is the killer of all the competitors in its segment… if you seriously compare you must buy the Longines…
would the Tissot Seastar 1000 see through back fit, could I buy it and change it out, thanks
No, won’t work! Cases might look similar, but aren’t so one could exchange the case back…
I just dont get it. Longines makes this watch in Quartz and charges exactly 1000 more for the automatic and closes the back. The idea of buying an Automatic for me, is to see through the movement. They dropped the ball here. I bought the quartz one instead
@@tyronnezx the case back is extremely beautiful though and it's the best diver movement and history wise for the price 😁😎👍
They should make them capped instead of pvd or plated even if charging more. Pvd two tone doesn't make sense. Great video though!
As the workmanship of L888.5 is very beautiful, we just don't understand why Longines NOT issue the see-through (Back) version for the Hydroconquest watches.
In 2019, under the same Swatch Group, Tissot Seastar 1000 have already issued the see-through version watches with 300M water resisitant and the price is only HALF of the Hydroconquest .
Tastes are different ... not everyone wants a see-through case-back ...
@@WatchAdvisor Exactly so. I do not want a diver with a see-through case back.
Super Video Alex, vielen Dank!
@@WatchAdvisor alles klar, danke dir!
Gold plating is never the way to go! It's not "honest".
It is not gold plating! It is PVD coating ...
One of these or a tag Heuer formula 1 chronograph?
LONGINES! No doubt!
Longines all the way, tag’s quality has gone down.
@@zamborghini89 So true! All the new models are equipped with technical outdated Sellita calibres 🤦🏻♂️
Is the bezel also a PVD coating?
tudor vs longines luxury ?
What exactly is your question? I don’t get the point…
A NO date version would be lovely, balance the face, rolex explorer is a perfect example, why so many put a date on everything even dress watches spoils the symmetry
I agree! the date often "destroys" good design ...
Then you might like a watch such as the Squale 30 ATMOS B&G GMT Ceramica. It has perfect symmetry (same style, no date window).
The ceramic bezel is HARD to rotate comparable to other watches, in addition, under the normal/stable situation, there is a little "SPACE" or "GAP" in the ceramic bezel, you can feel it when you touch and slightly move the bezel.
Thanks for sharing!
Try some gt85, wd40 or other lubricant.
Why do you need bezel rotation?
Longines, Albert Einstein watch, if they knew.
They know, of course!
The Rubber Strap version is IMPOSSIBLE to adjust its length to suit your wrist during normal daily usage (if you have NO tools), in addition, even you have tools, there is limited room for you to adjust.
Thanks for sharing!
Don't like coating. should be gold. anyway, I like rose gold more than gold.
Whats the name of the track at 11.15?
All our music comes and is licensed from www.premiumbeat.com
@@WatchAdvisor the track has a name? to find it on the site?
the luminova on that one is really bad especially for a diver!
This is an “old” watch! All new Longines do feature a much better SL meanwhile…
@@WatchAdvisor the new green variant doesn’t have the gold bezel though
Yeah if your going to keep the Date window please put a magnifying glass like Rolex! Us older guys can't see those little tiny numbers or else take it out! No sense having it if you can't see it!
Longines can’t copy the cyclops of Rolex though… a bigger date indication would be an alternative…
Now this is something that you like: A billige Blechverlängerung🤣
1680 Euro - Wow. Expensive. Lol.
Why do you think it is expensive? Can you specify please?
I disagree. For what you get, I'd say it's a very honestly priced watch. Longines really didn't cut corners anywhere. The crown mechanism alone is quite impressive in its heft and strength.
Fair Price for a quality Watch 😊
wish it was real gold, not PVD or plated……or at least gold-filled..(though this is a bit outdated)
Yep! Would be an attractive option…
PVD sucks! Should have offered it with 14k Gold.
Gold would be much more expensive though…
