Dr. Georgia Ede: Fix Your Diet by Fixing Your Mind

  • You know there's something wrong with the state of medicine when doctors don't even consider "recovery" a possibility. That's the state of modern psychiatry.
    Dr. Georgia Ede believed it was true and accepted it as reality. That is, she believed it until she was faced with her own health problems. Her recovery from those health issues challenged that belief. She experienced the connection between diet and mental health personally.
    That experience inspired her to introduce the same food-based method to her patients. When they got the same positive results she got, she knew she was onto something.
    Psychiastist Dr. Georgia Ede leads us through her transition from conventional psychiatric methods to a pioneer in the field of nutritional psychiatry.

    Is it crazy that I tear up when I listen to Georgia Ede. This amazing Drs advice is the advice that I needed all along. Over 30 years of mental health issues all gone. All my doctors including Psychiatrists all said it wasn’t my vegan diet. I ate a very clean, no processed foods vegan diet. I was so skinny and malnourished I think they were just happy I was not overweight.

    • @GeorgiaEdeMD
      @GeorgiaEdeMD 8 месяцев назад +6

      It sounds like you are feeling better these days since changing your diet, and if that's the case, congratulations! What changes did you make and how did you figure out what the problem was and discover a new way of eating?

    • @jonelleolds-ruppel1159
      @jonelleolds-ruppel1159 8 месяцев назад +2

      @@GeorgiaEdeMD I’m feeling like a new person. I was vegan for health reasons so when an energy healer, yes I was searching for answers from unusual places, asked me what I was eating she said that my diet was very high oxalate and if I gradually lower I may start feeling better mentally and physically. She also explained how I was misled about fat and meat. I was willing to try anything! No one told me it could be what I was eating and very importantly what I wasn’t eating. She had gone down the same road as me. It still was a long road to feeling better but after more research I knew I had to give it a try and stay the course 😊. My doctor wasn’t happy about me weaning off psych meds and even told me she will be waiting for me to come back.

    Hey, I’m Jeff! I’m 39. I quit drinking alcohol on Jan 20th 2024(drinking since about 20yrs old). I also started eating ground beef/steaks, eggs, bacon, butter, salt. I have organic hotdogs on hand for snacking. I do drink black coffee. I also drink Silk brand unsweetened Coconut milk mixed with whey protein isolate to go with meals. I’ve always been an avid gym goer lifting weights. Push/Pull/Legs split. Sprinkle in some calisthenics sessions. Fell off cardio for a good while. Was having consistently impaired workouts due to drinking too much vodka and chasing it with whole bottles of sugary fruit juice 😵 My moods and mental health have not been the greatest over many years. I’ve often felt spaced out/disassociated (I describe it as “looking through someone else’s eyes”/low motivation (did Neuro-Feedback for short time (cost prohibitive) that showed flatline levels of brainwaves associated with motivation)
    Anyways..! I hope I get some of the benefits I’ve read about on RUclips from eating a carnivore diet. If I do, I’m prob going to start making at least a few videos to spread the word!

    LOVE Dr. Ede!
    I had 2 strokes (and an MI) on 3/3/2022 when they were putting stents in. I had Broca's aphasia and weakness on my entire right side.
    A ketogenic diet (and speech therapy, Lumosity games, Duo Lingo-Spanish, etc.) helped me recover so fast I was able to go back to work exactly 2 months after my CVAs (luckily I could work from home since I wasn't allowed to drive.. ).
    I do still have some issues reading... my eyes don't track well. I bought Dr. Ede's book (in case I ever meet her, so I can get it autographed), but I also got the audio book.

I'm doing a lot of traveling this year...regardless, I am so happy for you and thank you for your interest in the book:)

      coz we got domesticated, AFTER we lost our way around ice age time, when generationally we had to survive on mostly or even exclsuively meat; most of our ancestors in europe and parts of asia, and america.
      that happened through comfort eating of grains and potatoes and beans, and dairy!
      also, eating a lot of meat, or exclusively meat, you can't use your brain very well. you miss stuff. can't use logic very well. not much between the ears.

    After experiencing the best year of my life with keto carnivore losing weight (48 lbs/now at ideal weight) with all issues resolved, I am trying - in vain - to help my adult children with their own children's issues: i.e., 6 year old granddaughter with out of the blue epilepsy (eats lots of sugary based foods), and a 17 year old grandson with extreme eczema on upper torso and arms (eats the poster junk foods). For the life of me I cannot get them to listen to any of my advice. Feeling so helpless, especially watching my grandkids suffer.😢🤦🏼‍♀️

      The protruding belly, apple shape, and “muffin tops,” esp, are indicative of insulin resistance. It’s not quite this simple, I realize, as estrogen dominance and high cortisol are very common, too, but insulin resistance is increasing as is evidenced by skyrocketing rates of T2D.
