Thank you very much for the video, I heavily fertilized my pines this year and have a lot of back budding up to 5 buds per tip, can I also do bud pinching during the plucking?

So what about the back buds I have had on a 40 year old trunk. Nothing is impossible but telling people it won't happen on branches older than 3 years is just incorrect. It is based entirely on how the candles are pruned.

It depends on the species, when you get some bark you will never get buds there, I noticed you can get back budding on Scott’s and mugo but not every other year like Japanese black pine. After 5-7 years you start to get bark on branches and when there is bark it’s almost impossible to get buds, unless you do a very heavy bending (4 years ago a bended a Yamadori trunk with wedge cut technique and now I’m gettin one bud near the callus on the outer part of the bend, lucky?

@@alessandromassimo5717 precisely! There are techniques which you can use to backbud very old trees. It takes a long time to the grow the branches but it is doable
