I couldn't skip out on work for the premier today, but it was certainly worth the wait. I love that this is not a "typical" bonsai; it is all it's own! Building a tree to look like it has never been touched by human hand is probably the hardest bonsai to achieve, and this is looking the part - pruning stubs not withstanding! 💚🌲
New fan and bonsai enthusiast here. Just wanted to say that I enjoy your videos, and I've learned a lot about bonsai from you. Thank you, Mr. Saunders.
This tree is always making cameos when you walk through the Bonsai Zone. I dig the pot and seeing the tree coming along. That stinks that it’s cracking!! Nothing a little JB Weld can’t fix though, especially with Saunders ingenuity. I appreciate you, Nigel, and all you so freely share.
I love this composition but I really cannot believe you are enjoying the snow again! It is bright and sunny here in Grantham so I am gong to have a go at one of my pot bound junipers today.
Yes, I see what you're getting at with challenging bonsai conventions. And Scots pines do get like that in adverse conditions. The pot, I dunno. I thought it was stoneware, but plastic detracts from the composition. So think I.
That tree sure is growing to suit that pot! The pot almost looks like it's made of a wasp nest! Hopefully you can repair it using glue or plastic weld. Perhaps the pot creator has repair secrets?
@@TheBonsaiZone I'm sorry the pot cracked!! I don't know why, but my second set of pots seem to have this cracking problem. However the pot is made of a galvanized steel frame, which makes it highly unlikely that the piece will fall apart. The simplest would probably be for me to come in person to repair the pot with an epoxy clay ;)
Wow Amazing to see it is still snowing in Canada! Here in the Netherlands spring is in full bloom! But i can never cheer to early though. Weather can change fast Here. Great video Nigel! Do you also have Some tips on 5 needle pines? I have pinus cambra. With green candles on them, but i have no clue how to prune them.
Thanks, generally you pinch the candles to the top of your finger when grasping the base of the candle. Also thin the new candles so every branch divides from one to two.
Certainly a different style from the rest of your collection, how old is this tree? I only remember you showing us planting it into the pot it is currently in but not really too much beforehands, it must be a decent age as the trunk has some thickness to it and it can produce pollen cones.

Awesome, thank you Michael! Cool hair too!
@@TheBonsaiZone Of course! And thank you! You also have cool hair!
finding this channel is probably one of the best things in your life :D

The tree looks very healthy :). I'm sorry the pot cracked!! I don't know why, but my second set of pots seem to have this cracking problem.
No problem, it's very slight!
Beautiful harmony between specimen and pot.
I like the pot and is certainly suits the style your going for with that tree. Nice one Nigel
Agree Nigel, unusual but pleasing to look at 😊
Natural is good!!
Oh my gosh! More snow? Wow!
Yes, winter doesn't want to end here!!
@@TheBonsaiZone Yes, I see that! It's crazy!
I'd say a sculpture, the same as the pot. Well done. Love your videos.

I’m hoping my hardy trees can come out of the tent and stay out finally starting this weekend. Fingers crossed this is the last snow! 👍🥶☀️
Fingers crossed 🤞
I see some more negative temperatures in the long range forecast, winter doesn't want to end!
that is such a cool tree! looks like it is clinging to a cliff side.
The pruned tree looks great Nigel. hopefully the pot gets glued back together ok, now to the KW meeting!
Thanks Xin, someone suggested epoxy, that would blend in nicely!!!
@@TheBonsaiZone That does sound like a good idea!
The pot is just so cool….
I agree, I would have put a link to his website, but it seems to not be there anymore.
I like the tree. As if it was from the mountains like a mini yamadori.
always a fun spring isnt it
I got my snow tires changed to summer tires today, maybe that's why it snowed!!
Love the scots pine in this pot, it's really grown from when you first planted it in that pot. Great video Nigel
Kesan natural pada pot nya sangat kuat , tidak nampak guratan tangan/ metal seperti kebanyakan pot relief buatan👍
That looks amazing!! Thank you for sharing.
You are so welcome!

A piece of wire for this front branch to wire it to the right side to follow the pot downwards would improve this tree for years :)
I live you bonsai
Really nice Scott's pine Nigel I am surprised at your weather is it normal to have snow in April in Canada.

Thanks Marysol!! Someone suggested epoxy, it would be the right colour!

so much new growth this early, did you have it in greenhouse?

That one leg of the pot looks like a crocodile 🐊 head. Would be sad if that breaks off. Definitely unusual but pleasing
I agree that the pot is kinda wild so why not let the tree match that! 😄
I would remove all branches leaving just the trunk, because to me those branches look too chaotic
That would kill this Conifer
@@gabewashburn5756 Ok, then I would take off one branch every year and hope for new shoots
👍👌👌🍎

There is a mess in that comment section of grammar questions.
I was tricking them into thinking they left the video early and missed a bonus question!
