Navia uses a claymore and her signature weapon is a battleaxe, also the chase actually didn't start at night, it started in the sewer slums beneath the city which is why it was so dark
Her demo was cinematic to hell and back, orgasmic beauty and elegance unlike any other. My mouth couldn't close from how many times the scene switches, smooth transitions and on-beat moments this demo just shined in! It was a great action-packed 2 minutes of pure joy for me.
Navia is basically a mob boss. Quests out of her area are _filled_ with references to the Godfather, and there's a scene in Neuvillete's quest where she brings in a group of suspects by… basically inviting them to coffee and they are all sitting there, stiff, deadpan "oh yes, I have always wanted to be. invited. to. coffee [with the Don]. What an opportunity. "
What I really loved about this demo is the movement of the game models - they're very life like. It's as if they're from motion detection or something then translated to the models. And despite all of the fantasy elements, the most fictional part of all of these is running like that in those heels. Lmao.
That is exactly how they do this. Extensive motion capture drives all the character and NPC animations. Each has a library ofbanimations corresponding to everything a character can do. Often times options and the game can select which to use to add more variation. It is a technique that was created and pioneered by WETA Digital back in 1998 for The Lord of the Rings films. Its film/tv/game industry standard now.
A: in her demo, during those flashing lights moments, I'm pretty sure she's in her own reality. Still in battle thought she's imaging paparazzi taking photos during some big event. B: she wields a gun brella, a gun and umbrella/parasol. She's literally a Gothic geo wielding princess peach
What you said about her masking and that she's living in a daydream is very interesting to me since it would make sense with her. It would also fit the theme of Fontaine perfectly. Even so, she is a strong character, not just of strength, but of mind as well.
you’re one of the only reacters that i like to watch, especially in this community. i love how much you pay attention to details! thank you for giving us great content
The first thing I thought when I finished watching Navia's character demo was: I can't wait to see what Philip has to say about this one! I actually notice cinematic language now because of if this channel. Thanks for the awesome breakdown! 😁
Wriothesley and Navia's demos have the kind of chaos I enjoyed: telling a story. Navia's demo is one of my top 5 favorites, and I'm really excited to see how they do Chlorinde's demo. Can't wait to add both to my team.
The new event in Fontaine is a film festival. One of the mini games is about choosing the right shot compositions for a film. It would be cool to see you do that! 😁
It is not a 'night to day' chase. The first shots are in the sewers of Fontaine, at their 'main city base' which is underground, thus the darkness. There is a nice cut from chasing down in the sewers to chasing on the streets that you missed/didn't comment on where we switch to daylight. I don't think there's enough clues to really tell how long this chase really took, but considering the harbor is PRETTY far from Fontaine, and the last scenes look to be on the islands to the north-east of Fontaine... yeah it prolly did span at least half a day lol.
She is actually transitioning between two weapons. The main one you see is her gun umbrella. Kind of self explanatory. In game you get to pick a claymore for her as well, but her signature claymore is a large axe you saw in the demo. This kind of redefines the claymore category as it used to be large swords, but now it is just...large heavy mele weapons. Finally her burst is a cannon barrage called in on the enemy. I think the transition used in the demo is actually in game transition for the skill.
she's been a very inportant character in the Fontaine main story(especially part 1) wich made me wonder why they were so late with releasing her as a playable character. Designwise she's a masterpiece, but then again thats what Hoyoverse is good at in all of their games. Btw, i don't know if u noticed with Genshin characters, but they all have the color of their element weaved into their design, in Navia's case, she's Geo(earth) wich explains the gold/amber color pallet while Linnette who shows up briefly is Anemo(wind) with its Teal color. Technically she's Claymore user but like other Hoyoverse games Genshin is moving away from the idea of making the weapon as dominant as the characters by making them part of their design instead of whatever u have equipped on them.
It has to do with the story. Things happened in 4.2 that had to happen to develop her character before she could/was ready to join our party (and so we can get her chara story quest). While we've met her since early on, since there was still an important life aspect that had to happen, we couldn't invite her to the party till after 4.2 story. (Being vague here cuz spoilers XD)
Recently found your channel and it's really fun to watch you break these down, I don't know anything about what it takes to make a film. Do you have any original work I can see?
HoYo never fails. They go HARD on everything. And it shows. Still one of my favorite character trailers ever. The flamenco style music. The spy/criminal noir flavor.
well, actually she is the leader of a mafia basically her entire story is shown in the game's main story, she is one of Fontaine's most important characters
My dude, you need to watch 3 cinematics : Awaken, The Call (both from League of Legends) and the Deus Ex:Human Revolution E3 trailer. That last one won awards, man.
Masking is a wonderful word for it. She's basically a mob boss, her group the "spina de rosa" provides protection for certain high end businesses (as well as does its own business); when she's introduced in the story it's as an "outsider" with "insider" connections, she asks the traveler if they think a trial should be a big show, which we don't agree with, and she agrees. the Spina de Rosa is clearly around because her father (and herself) don't believe in the "justice" of Fontaine, hence they operate outside of the norms of society... (btw: spina di rosula is corsican for "thorn of the rose") now is the spina a criminal organisation? not entirely... imagine the most "positive" version of the mob you can, and you're close enough. think vigilantes... maybe some mercenary protection.
I weren't impressed with the trailer originally, but after this analysis I come to like it much more. Her weapon is a "Gunbrella", which I guess is self-explanatory (she is technially a claymore user, and the axe counts as a claymore, but you generally shoot people with the gunbrella as it is main source of damage).
@philipharts Can't wait for you to get to see the Zenless Zone Zero stuff. Genshin is kind of held back by (imo) their usage of the Unity game engine, you can tell that it limits what they can do with the animations and stuff. But ZZZ is on a whole nother level, the amount of detail they put into the character animations is amazing. It feels like if someone took Persona's emphasis on stylistic bombast and mixed in some Hoyo sauce
Watching this guy try and hype up the most boring trailer for the worst game is a feat in itself. I respect his commitment to trying to feign interest.

You should react to some of the Sumeru archon quest cutscenes, especially the last one!

Navia is my all-time favorite, im so glad she's also a community favorite
I loved her demo and thos breakdown of the camera shots etc

Anime genshin 🧐

Navia canonically likes to bake and serve macaroons. Yeah, she's making the best of her life situation.

This means the world and that is my mission with this channel, for everyone to appreciate art even more!!! Thank you!
Evil'doer beware...
Mondstadt has Diluc
Liyue has Yelan
Inazuma has Ayato
Sumeru has Cyno
Fontaine has Navia
Ah yes my favorite character
Ship
If you move them around, it spells M.I.L.F.S.

What!!! That’s amazing! Is it a limited time?
@@PhilipHartsYes, limited time. About two weeks remaining now. Executed nicely but of course it's Genshin difficulty level.
Navia really gets a lot of mileage out of that umbrella XD
She uses her Gun/ Umbrella then her main weapon is an really big Axe, and her Burst/ Ultimate is her cannons, very fun to watch lol
1:21 Charlotte cameo
Thank you for sharing your perspective on this awesome trailer!
I do love how navias demo has a story but still leaves room for creativity when it comes to setting and other things in the demo

@@MyStarseedColoring ok that makes sense. thanks for explaining!

My first 5 star got PEAK
If Navia and VILL-V teamed up, we'd all be in trouble.
Her Umbrella
IS A GUN
it's a GUNBRELLA
Gunbrella+halberd
RWBY be like ...

You mention a lot of Princess Peach but not the one in Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope where she has an unbrella...
WITH A BUILT IN SHOTGUN ON TOP
11:05 that's what we call a gunbrella 😎
Masking is a wonderful word for it. Good reaction :D Your description says the wrong thing tho
Yes this trailer is so good ❤❤.
I'm gonna need your reaction to Ruan mei trailer
I weren't impressed with the trailer originally, but after this analysis I come to like it much more. When’s your next Genshin stream can’t wait.
Gunbella is amazing lol
And the cut from the sewers to the streets
Have you watched Genshin Orchestral Concert 2023 in Shanghai?that's 10 of 10!

My only nitpick isn't even with her, but her henchmen; a bit too hapless like the Keystone cops.
Finally Taylor Swift Demo Review
You Should React to Yoimiya and Charlotte, they have good music
👍
Hello, I love you content
12:30 Melus and Silver would have done so much better, smh
Stop complaining and let her live her life
