To be honest I wouldn’t say my “best” seasons were the ones I scored and assisted the most, for me performance goes a lot deeper than statistics. I’ve had seasons where I scored and assisted many, but my overall play felt lacking, and I’ve had seasons where my overall play has been strong, but not necessarily the top goalscorer etc 👍
You can incorporate scanning into any drill. Having said that, the purpose of scanning is to collect information. When training alone, typically there isn’t information to gather (unless you’re using coloured or numbered prompts). Scanning in solo sessions is more just for good habit forming, but you still have to process information in matches 👍
Michael, I stole a great drill from Liverpool. A. A o. o *. *. *. * B. B *. * Ao. B. B. oA *. * *. * Ao. B B. oA *. * B. B *. *. *. * o. o A. A This great drill has players in 8 pairs (A&B A with a ball) facing each other on opposite sides of the cones.😅 On a signal each pair begin passing the ball one touch between the cones, using alternate feet. WHO can be the first to 50 touches (25 each foot)? Then A’s use two touches to pass the ball OUTSIDE the cones to B’s. B’s one touch return THROUGH the cones back to A’s 30 secs then swap roles and repeat. Then A&B’s back to one touch through the cones then on a signal the next time the ‘inner’ player receives the ball, they control the ball away from their partner and speed dribble the ball to the opposite outside pair of cones while the outer players walk to become the new inner player on that side and the drill continues. There are a lot of other magical drills that fit in with this set up. Hope you like it. 👍

I’ll walk into a game or training session with confidence, but sometimes I’ll make a lot of mistakes and I won’t feel sharp. The first few mistakes I’m pretty good at shaking off but when I make many mistakes in a row it really kills my confidence to the point where I don’t really want the ball anymore because I know I’m going to lose it. No matter how hard I try to get the idea out of my head it still affects me a lot. Also, do you know any ways to improve the skill of finding the spaces to receive the ball as a CDM. When I play, I sometimes find that the space I’m in is either occupied by someone else or has been closed up.

Technical ability is the most important area of the game. You’re ability to control, pass, dribble and shoot is all technical ability. The better your technique, the more influence you have on the game.
