This remix is better imo. The part from beginning to around 0:40 is the best part. The faint choir of male vocals sounding almost gregorian just straight up gives me goosebumps. And the transition or "drop" at around 0:35 ish is just legendary. Double up on goosebumps.

I don't know the secret, dozens of Villains have come and gone, hundreds of heroes have come and gone, all the quests and the expansions, yet something about Arthas makes him different than all of them. What is it? I don't know..
He was the hero at one point. He wasn't just a villain, but a character. We watched as Frostmourne corrupted him, and the lore surrounding him felt meaningful.
I feel and ask myself the same thing. And i think that it is more than about a game. I think that blizzard nailed some powerfull human archetype. Just like harry potter or luke skywalker arthas was destined for good. He is the choosen one from the Conrad's monomyth. Just like gilgamesh, potter, luke skywalker , frodo or ciri and many others. He is destined for great things. But when the trial comes he chooses power instead of good of his values. Tragic thing is that he chooses power and pays it seems little price, with the intention to do greater good. But after that there is no greater good. Only power. And his story is so moving i think because he is a warning for all of us. Fallen hero. Another similar one is Anakin skywalker/ darth vader. Yup ... i can listen now:)
Because we were with him in Warcraft 3, we saw what happened to his people from his viewpoint, we knew that Stratholme was necessary, we saw how Uther and Jaina abandoned him. We were there when he took Frostmourne, we saw him fall and then become the Lich King. We knew that his soul was already gone, taken by Frostmourne, we were there through it all, and at the end, at the very end, when Arthas regains his soul after Frostmourne is broken and the spirits released, we see how broken he was, and the true price that he paid for the power to protect his people, his weary soul was finally free. That's why I believe Arthas is such a beloved character, never a true Hero, never a true Villain, just a kid who wanted to save his people no matter the cost, and the cost was too great to justify anything.
Imagine if they made a film series focused on Arthas and retained this as his main character theme, altho of course conducted by a different movie-soundtrack guy like the one who did the first WarCraft movie.
Bigballslol is right, when a game is turned into a movie or series, It MOSTLY turns into trash. like mortal combat, Doom etc. Even though I personally liked the Warcraft movie, I can understand why people didn't like it. Most of the lore was changed, the characters wasn't how they should be etc. Maybe if we let the Warcraft series stay as games, and let Arthas, the very magic and memories we have of them be what they are till this day. no lore changes, no story changes, just Warcraft. btw the guy who composed the music for the Warcraft movie is Ramin Djawadi (game of thrones, Pacific rim)

It hurts my ears listening to this piece now six years later. The bitrate is so incredibly low... at least for the first minute. I'll probably remake it sometime during the next six months. Please also give me ideas for doing something similar with other game soundtracks. I've thought about perhaps mixing a few calm Mass effect soundtracks together or at least removing the reaper sounds in "leaving earth".

Would have loved an arthas redemption arc😢

Doesn't matter, nothing past Wrath of the Litch King is Canon, since Blizzard lost the ability to write good stories. All a bunch of shit fanfiction to squeeze money from addicts.
